It was a strange but familiar feeling, we'd been using it this whole time but never knew.
According to the giant sage, reinforcement was no more than using willpower to amplify one's ability. It, however, went even deeper than that. You see some high mental states such the stubborn mind of strong belief or delusion also reinforced concepts which wouldn't have otherwise existed. The likes of gods, monsters and other unnatural phenomena owed their existence to the shallow mindedness of the mediocre masses. In other words reinforcement was tricking the universe into creating something by convincing it that it was already there.
I was eager to learn and like a thirsty sponge I took every word of the sage to memory. My impatience was brimming and I was getting awful desperate. See, compared to the hellish routines we went through at the guild this training was childplay. It was, in fact, much more ridiculous than any training, besides the daily lectures we got most of the time we were meditating, making tea or running silly errands for the lazy giant. The memories of my previous battle drove me even crazier and hungrier for power. And each time we'd interrogate the giant his constant reply was ever calm, "Rest assured, I will make you ready. "
The routine had us to the end of the first month and continued until we had gone through about a week of the second month. I was certain that by now the guild had declared us dead and rightfully so. Judging by how weak we were, we wouldn't last a day outside with the enemies hunting us anyway. Oh right, they were just after me, my friends would be fine.
I gathered the crew and decided to hatch a plan, " Guys, this training is dumb so I'm going to sneak out at night and do my own. I know this is my burden so you don't have to suffer with me through this."
Ban: This guy wants to get stronger on his own, selfish bastard
Onit: Yeah he thinks we need his permission to train or something
Dean: Honestly, I'm offended taking instructions from a virgin
Onit: What you got to say about this Reka
Rekab: We're in this together Genie, too late to change that.
The beauty of the moment was truly touching, I was almost moved by the makeshift loyalty of my makeshift friends. Heart filled with hope, I made a short prayer that our deaths would be glorious and with that our real training began.
Vipunen spent a good deal of his day sleeping, he'd usually give us absurd tasks using a magic tablet, the design of all of which was for our absolute annoyance. Some quests, for example, consisted of collecting some special spice-making grass that grew on a cliff, digging the earth for some special kind of rock that could start a fire during the rain or getting fur from a special kind of glowing goat that lived on the highest mountain. It was always about special things with this giant. So part of our training became finishing the giant's petty requests before noon and taking the rest of the time to train. We pushed each other daily, harder, faster and stronger. Surely the second week became our longest yet as our muscles finally got to know fatigue, I mean what better motivation did we have than the cold hands of death itself.
The third week saw us go through the same routine and we had only a week left before the giant would let us go.
Vipunen pov
It had been a while before I had experience this kind of excitement. The last time I encountered mortals this interesting was the last I heard of the battle gods. It was only natural that their fates would be so volatile since it was the fear of the gods against the faith of the mortals. I took it upon myself to train this younglings so that they could reinforce they're own fates. I had to observe them and be certain of their hunger for power which had to be strong were they to survive the test of faith. As such I pretended to sleep and tested them daily, that Darth boy though, he insisted on training even more, how stubborn he was, just like his father.
