Sarah, alias Shadow, stood in front of the glass case containing the Project: Phoenix serum. She had no intention of destroying it or letting it fall into the wrong hands, but she couldn't just leave it there either. After a moment of contemplation, she reached for the serum and carefully picked up one of the vials.
As she held it up to the light, she couldn't help but wonder what it would be like to have the full strength and power of a super-soldier. She shook the thought from her mind and tucked the vial into her pocket. It was better if no one knew about this.
As she turned to leave the room, she heard footsteps approaching. She quickly hid behind a nearby shelf, peering through the cracks to see who it was. To her surprise, it was Alex, alias Sentinel.
"What are you doing here?" Sarah asked, stepping out from her hiding place.
"I could ask you the same thing," Alex replied, eyeing the serum in her pocket. "What are you planning to do with that?"
Sarah hesitated for a moment before responding. "I don't know yet. I just didn't want it to fall into the wrong hands."
Alex nodded, still eyeing her suspiciously. "Well, we need to destroy it. It's too dangerous to leave it lying around."
Sarah's heart sank. She couldn't let Alex destroy the serum, not when she had already taken one vial. "I don't know if that's such a good idea," she said, trying to hide the panic in her voice.
"What do you mean?" Alex asked, narrowing his eyes.
Sarah took a deep breath, trying to think of a way out of this. "I mean...what if we could use it for good? What if we could create an army of super-soldiers to fight crime and protect the city?"
Alex considered her words for a moment before shaking his head. "It's too risky. We don't know what the side effects could be. It's better to just destroy it."
Sarah's mind raced. She had to stop him. "Wait," she said, stepping closer to him. "Let's think about this. Maybe we could just take one vial each and see what happens. We could test it on ourselves, make sure it's safe, and then decide what to do with the rest."
Alex looked at her skeptically. "That's a terrible idea. We can't just experiment on ourselves like that."
Sarah knew she was running out of time. "Please, Alex. Think about it. We could finally have the power to protect our city, to be the heroes we've always wanted to be."
Alex sighed, rubbing his forehead. "Fine. We'll each take one vial, but we have to promise to be careful."
Sarah breathed a sigh of relief. "Thank you, Alex. I knew you'd see reason."
As they each took a vial and left the room, Sarah's mind was racing. She couldn't believe she had just convinced Sentinel to take the serum. But now she had to be even more careful, to make sure no one found out that she had taken one too. The stakes were higher than ever, and she knew that she was playing a dangerous game.
