Chapter 26 - Reunion

Shadow stood at the entrance of her old base, her heart pounding in her chest. It had been years since she had been here, but the memories flooded back as if it had only been yesterday. She took a deep breath and stepped inside.

The place had changed a lot since she left. It was no longer the dingy, rundown building she remembered. The walls had been painted a clean, white color, and the floors had been replaced with sleek, polished concrete. The computers and equipment had all been updated and modernized.

She made her way down the familiar corridors, her footsteps echoing off the walls. As she walked, she couldn't help but feel a sense of nostalgia. This place had been her home for years, and it had been where she had honed her skills as a tech genius and a warrior.

When she finally arrived at the room she was looking for, she hesitated for a moment before pushing the door open. Inside, she found her old team waiting for her.

"Shadow!" her former leader, Ace, exclaimed as he stood up from his seat. "It's good to see you again."

"Likewise, Ace," Shadow said, feeling a lump form in her throat.

The rest of the team, Viper, Cobra, and Hawk, greeted her warmly, and Shadow felt tears prick at the corners of her eyes. She had missed them all so much.

They spent the next few hours catching up on old times and reminiscing about their past missions. As the night wore on, Shadow found herself feeling more and more at home. She realized that she had never truly left this place behind.

As she prepared to leave, Ace pulled her aside. "Shadow, I know you left us for a reason, but if you ever want to come back, the team would be happy to have you."

Shadow was touched by the offer, but she knew that her place was no longer with them. "Thanks, Ace," she said, giving him a sad smile. "But I think I need to move on."

As she walked out of the building, Shadow felt a sense of closure. She knew that she would always have a place in her heart for her old team, but it was time to forge a new path for herself.
