February 18th , 3240
I vaguely remember when I was 8 … when I was free and able to do whatever I wanted to. Now, I'm trapped in a realm by another consciousness … Emperor. He tempted me with the granting of desires and I fell for it. He has taken control of my body and trapped me in his own mind. It was all because of my desire to be with another. It's nothing but an empty void during the beginning. A cold darkness that covered me. A total separation from reality … fate is truly something.
It's now the year 3240. I'm honestly surprised that I'm still sane in this cell. It's been 10 years since I had any outside contact. I've learned to befriend Emperor since he is the only one that I can talk to. He was honestly surprised that I would actually befriend him instead of resisting. And ever since I befriended him, he has improved my cell ... Well, it's not technically a cell since it can be expanded with the will of the person. It transformed from a black void to a spacious home room that has all of life's necessities. It even provides a computer to which I can view whatever emperor is looking at for almost everything he sees. In a sense, I can see whatever he sees. I would frequently write in order to pass time. It's actually a very fun and easy way to pass time. If I get a chance, I do want to publish a book... but in this case, I can only say one I will... one day I will.
It was a Monday when Emperor received news on his latest attempt at project Soul Synthesis. He had woken me up from my slumber to tell me about it.
"Alisa, wake up!" He shouted.
His voice rang throughout the dorm room from above.
"Mhm... I'm up. What's the matter?" I mumbled.
"New test results came in from Project Soul Synthesis!" He stated.
Project Soul Synthesis is a secret project under the public name of Virtual Training Program (VTP), where two souls are extracted from their bodies and two new souls from other universes are inserted into those original bodies. Through body modifying systems, the two new souls can have their original bodies from where they were transported from. This experiment is led by Dr. Haley and funded by the Steam Empire.
"How did it go? Was it another failure?" I asked.
"Not at all, It was a success! The two souls were successfully swapped!" He exclaimed.
"Yawn~ that's nice. Do you know any info about them?" I replied.
"Dr. Haley has sent me an update on them. Using a secret process that I only know, I found out their names."
"Well, tell me their names then."
"Clyde and Crystal."
"Cool, now don't disturb me anymore, I want to sleep."
"Sorry for waking you Alisa, I just wanted to tell you about it."
"Mhm... you can tell me more when your physical body sleeps... Zzz... Zzz.."
Later that day, he woke me up again.
"My physical body is officially asleep and I have gotten even more info on Crystal."
I got up from my bed and stretched.
"Tell me about it, now that we both have the time."
Suddenly there was a knock on the dorm room door. I walked over to the door and opened it.
"Hmm... should I expand this dorm room a bit, I think it could use a renovation or two."
It was Emperor, who had entered the realm in a human form. He was about 5 foot 10 with cornflower blue eyes and hair. His figure was a bit slender, but he had a relatively healthy and muscular physique.
"Hey now, what's with the human form all of a sudden!"
"Well, I've only been talking to you in a "higher up being" type thing. And since we have known each other for 9 years now, I thought It would have been appropriate for me to approach you in a human form."
"Tsk... you could have shown me your human form earlier... I mean, you just had to wait 9 freaking years. Look at you, you look amazing and yet you wait till now to show me this form of you."
"Sorry about that... also, do you mind if I show up in your dorm room for our nightly chats?"
"That is only if you show up in your human form instead of just being a voice in the sky" I said with a smirk on my face.
"Hmm... Deal."
"Come on in then."
The two of us sat across from each other in the living room on two sofas. The living room had windows, but there was nothing but darkness on the other side of the window. He had gotten himself a glass of water from the fridge while I had made myself hot chocolate.
"So continuing from this morning's conversation. Turns out Crystal is a great military leader. I predict that this was due to an extreme amount of time spent on video games, most likely VR or AR."
"Like the VR and AR systems in Pavilion or something else?"
"Sort of, but they run on weaker metal batteries instead of having a magic based battery."
"Well, they probably didn't have magic in their world."
"That's exactly the case."
"I see, what else..."
"Well, there are some questions that we are currently pondering on. Such as if Soul Rejection would happen, and how the body will react to the new soul in the upcoming days."
"Boring! Heck, you sound more like a researcher than a leader of an empire. Where's all the wars, diplomacy, and stuff like that?"
He took another sip of his water.
"Well, if you really want to know, then I'll tell you. All without skipping the details, even the gore."
I took a long sip of my hot chocolate.
"Now we are getting somewhere."
He sighed and took a drink of his water. He then looked outside the window, into the infinite darkness that was on the other side of it.
"Why are there windows if there is nothing beautiful to look at on the other side?"
"That's something you should ask yourself. It's your consciousness after all."
"True..."
Moments later, the dark void outside had turned unto vibrant grass fields, with trees scattered everywhere. The outside was no longer empty and depressed like a dead flower, rather it had bloomed into a warm atmosphere.
"Sweet, looks like my world won't be so empty anymore."
"Mhm... "
Emperor suddenly started to dematerialize.
"Dang, looks like my physical body is waking up, welp, I'll talk to you later. You can spend this time exploring the world outside."
"Got it."
