Chapter 6 - Chapter 6

Malia didn't say anything again as she watched Kyle take off her shirt, he unhooked her bra from the back throwing it on the floor as he began to suck on her nipples again. Malia gave in this time as she unbuttoned her jeans. They ended up making love again for the second time before she left.

On the way, they talked about college opportunities.

"Which college do you wanna attend?" Malia asked Kyle,

"I wanna attend Brantford University," Kyle said dreamily,

"What about you, which college do you wanna attend?" He asked her.

"I haven't decided yet, still thinking about it," she said.

"If you say so," Kyle as they continued their walk.

They soon got to Malia's house but Kyle didn't follow till she got to the door, he just stopped at the driveway holding Malia's hands.

"Don't you wanna come in?" She asked.

"Nope, I better get going," he said.

"Alright," she said as she hugged him tight, "I had fun with you today, despite you being brutal," she said.

"Yeah me too," Kyle said.

Kyle let go of her and waved her till she had gone inside before he set out for home. When he got home he was surprised to see his mother's car parked outside.

"Hi Mom," he said as he got inside the house.

"Oh hey, their son, surprised to see home so early," the mother said as she carried with what she was doing in the kitchen.

"Yeah I mean, I was expecting you'd be back by nightfall," Kyle said as he helped himself to a bottle of orange juice in the refrigerator.

"There was a change of plan, my boss said I could go home since we didn't have many patients at the ER." She said as she continued chopping the onion.

"That's great, by the way, Malia came earlier today, the reason you didn't see meet me at home was that I escorted her home," Kyle said munching on a sandwich that he made for himself. The mother gave him a suspicious look as she continued chopping the onion.

"How's she doing, by the way, Hope she's well?" His mom asked.

"Yeah she is well," Kyle said laughing as he looked at his mother's face, he knew what she wanted to say but she didn't say it to avoid some trouble.

"That reminds me, did Emily come by today?" The mother asked changing the subject.

" Yeah she did, you needed to see the way she was happy when I showed her how to solve the math problems," Kyle said laughing.

"Aww! That's sweet, bless my soul" his mother said putting down the knife to hold her chest and looking at her son admiringly.

The mother soon finished slicing and chopping the vegetables and roots and started the cooking, Kyle helped out with too, and in a couple of minutes, dinner was ready. The food cooked was meant for four people, but Kyle gobbled it down. Kyle was such a heavy eater, sometimes his father teased him that he wasn't going to marry on time because he felt no girl cooks better than his mom.

Kyle and Malia graduated from high school the following summer, Malia had emerged as the best-graduating student while Kyle came in second, nevertheless, they were both happy because they would be going to college. Kyle enrolled at Brantford University like he said he would, Malia applied at Brantford too but something terrible happened.

Malia's father was involved in a ghastly motor accident and was rushed to the hospital, the damage done to his brain was so bad that the doctor said he may not be able to make it. Malia's mother was distraught for days, she couldn't do anything, Malia herself cried her eyes out not knowing what to do. She began to think about her life, how was she going to go to college now that her father was lying at the hospital on the verge of no return. Mrs. Sue met with the doctor countless appealing to him to save her husband, but the doctor told her the surgery would cost $200,000 or else it would be too late.

Mr. Sue was in a coma for weeks, his health deteriorated and his condition got worse. Kyle got worried about Malia because she didn't visit as usual, she wasn't answering his calls or replying to his texts. Kyle went to visit Malia once but he only met her brothers at home,

"Hey Mali, Mike how are you guys doing? Been a while" Kyle said

"We are ok and you?" The twins replied in unison.

Kyle noticed that something wasn't right with them, he asked if everything was ok and they told him everything was fine.

"Ok, if Malia comes back tell her I came ok?" Kyle said as he turned to leave.

"Ok, we will," they said as they locked the door.

Kyle met Malia as he was about to leave their house, they stood staring at each other for a while before Kyle broke the silence.

"How are you? I just saw your brothers at the house they told me you were not in" Kyle said.

"Yeah, I went to get something," she said attempting to brush past Kyle and go into the house. Kyle grabbed her arm and told her not to go.

"Malia wait, we need to talk," Kyle said.

She turned to face him and he let her go, he could see her eyes were swollen from crying.

"Have you been crying Malia, what happened?" He asked looking concerned.

"No it's nothing really," she said wiping her eyes.

"No it's nothing, Malia, talk to me, I wanna know," Kyle said sounding worried.

Malia couldn't hold it anymore, she ran into his arms and cried on his chest.

"I can't take it anymore Kyle, I lost my cousin that was so dear to me" she lied, "news came last week that he died in a car accident, I felt so bad that's why I haven't been picking up your calls or replying your texts, I'm sorry," she said sobbing bitterly.

Kyle felt bad, he hugged her tight and comforted her too,

"I didn't know, I should've checked up on you earlier on… I'm sorry." Kyle said.

He followed her back into the house and made sure she was ok before he left. Kyle didn't know Malia's cousin wasn't dead, the cause of her grief was much bigger than the lie she had cooked up to divert Kyle's attention.
