"No no no no this can't be happening, Malia, tell me this is a joke," he said. He searched the whole house but couldn't find her. He called her phone but it was switched off. His heart began to pound very fast, he came out of the house, locked the doors and set off for her house, he was in such a hurry that he didn't watch the road, he was almost run over by a car. The driver brought his head out through the window with clenched fists saying
"Watch where you're going, boy"
Kyle didn't mind the man as he crossed the road, he ran with all the strength he had to Malia's house but unfortunately, he met an empty house. He knocked on the doors furiously but there was no answer, he even went round the back of the house calling her name still he didn't get an answer. He went to their neighbors to inquire about their whereabouts but got the most shocking news of his life, he was told they've relocated to Arizona and they weren't coming back.
Kyle couldn't believe what he was hearing, he sat on the floor and began to cry, he screamed so hard and let out a painful wail, he was inconsolable.
The man tried to console Kyle but he couldn't be consoled, some people came over to see what was happening, and when the man told them what happened they sympathized with him and assisted him in getting home. Kyle locked himself in his room and refused to come out, he cried all through the day until his parents came home. His mother was the first to come home and when she entered the house, the whole was quiet.
"Kyle, Kyle" she called his name but there was no reply, she climbed the stairs and heard Kyle crying in his room.
"Kyle, Kyle what's wrong open the door," his mother said knocking on the door but he refused to open up.
"Kyle opens this door this instant," she said becoming a little bit tensed. "Kyle I'm not gonna repeat myself"
The locks clicked as Kyle opened the door, his mother came into his room to see his eyes were sore from crying.
"Kyle, what's wrong? Anyone hurt you?" She asked looking concerned.
" She's gone Mom, Malia's gone," he said as a trickle of tears rolled down his cheek.
"What do you mean she's gone? I don't understand" his mother said looking confused.
He pointed at the note she had left him, his mother read through it and saw the reason behind her son's heartbreak.
"I'm so sorry sweetheart, have you tried calling her?" His mother asked.
"I did, I even went to their house but they were all gone," Kyle said, it wasn't easy for him at the moment.
"I'm so sorry my son, everything will be alright," she said.
"She was here this morning, I never knew it'd be the last time I see her," Kyle said.
Malia couldn't contain her emotions as they moved back to Arizona, she was gonna miss Kyle, the memories they shared, and everything. Her mother tried to console her but she kept on crying, she had wanted to call Kyle but she let go of the thought.
Kyle wasn't himself for days, he wouldn't leave his room, wouldn't do anything or talk to anyone as a result of that he went into depression. Kyle was numb and didn't find it pleasing to him anymore, the only thing he said was Malia. His parents became worried as they didn't want anything bad to happen to their son. He had already been admitted at Brantford University and the new academic session was due to start in three months which bothered his parents so much. Kyle's mother who was a nurse was able to use her influence as a nurse to get the services of a therapist for her son.
The therapy seemed to work, day after day Kyle recovered slowly, he was able to speak clearly, he got out of his room more often now and his appetite slowly returned to normal. His parents were happy at the progress he's made on the road to recovery.
A month after therapy Kyle was back. He was the usual active boy everyone was happy to see, he had since forgotten about Malia and moved on with his life, he realized there was more to life than sitting and crying over spilled milk.
