Chapter 1 - Chapter 1 - I Transmigrated As The Demon King, Then Changed Jobs to Become a Deliveryman.

Connor rubbed his throbbing temples and stepped out of the room. Before him lay an underground palace, where several attendants were preparing a banquet. At the head of the table sat an elderly man exuding a powerful aura, making it difficult to meet his gaze.

As soon as the old man caught sight of Connor emerging from the door, he hurried over in his direction.

Danger.

Connor's instincts went on high alert, but his body refused to move as he watched the other person rapidly approach. The individual was concealing an immense power; a dark golden aura extending for several yards behind him rose towards the ceiling undoubtedly marking him as an unparalleled expert.

In just three steps, he was before Connor with tears streaming down his face as he knelt before him. "Nexus Citadel steward Serence and all its citizens kneel before Your Majesty's return."

"What is this...?"

"Your Majesty closed himself off here one hundred years ago to achieve supreme power. Today you have emerged from seclusion having completed your final promotion resulting in a qualitative leap in your realm. Under your leadership, Nexus Citadel will conquer and subdue the entire world by crushing Lin Gang and Long Feng."

Upon seeing Connor remain silent, Serence took a crystal ball flashing with bright light from one of his attendants and presented it to him with both hands raised up.

"This appraisal crystal ball is prepared for Your Majesty. Putting your hand on it will enable you to see what has been achieved after promotion."

Serence prostrated himself on both knees while all other attendants followed suit without daring to raise their heads. Silence filled the air so that even if a pin dropped one could hear it clearly.

Clearing his throat nervously: "We do not dare speculate about Your Majesty's capacity as we are only loyal subjects. However, once you promote yourself into another level you will see your new profession name appears above this crystal ball – please take note of it."

Connor reached out with trembling fingers.

The brilliant light shone upon the crystal ball revealing His Majesty's new post-promotion job:

[Deliveryman].

...

As another sharp pain pierced his temple, memories from two lives fully merged within Connor.

Originally from Earth, he was a transmigrator and had worked as a deliveryman before crossing over. For him, delivery was not just a profession but a way of life. As the saying goes, one's body or soul is always on the road - delivery allowed him to experience all sorts of people and things in life. Despite being young with an inheritance worth billions waiting for him at home, he refused to give up this job.

It was impossible.

Thus, during one of his deliveries, he came across a questionnaire that suddenly popped up on his phone asking: "If you were to be reborn in another world, what kind of occupation would you choose?" Without much thought, he chose the option "The same job as in this life."

His soul then arrived on this eternal continent imbued with strong Japanese fantasy elements - like all stories where light and darkness struggle against each other- heroes fighting against demon kings.

One hundred and eight heroes blessed by the goddess of light were chosen by the Eternal Continent to eliminate one hundred and eight demon kings who inherited the power of the original witch.

The original owner of this body happened to be one of these demon kings: Nexus Overlord.

The underground city he ruled was called Nexus Citadel with thirteen layers in-depth; twelve named after the twelve zodiac signs while the final layer belonged to Nexus Overlord himself: The Demon King Palace.

Despite holding unparalleled power within his grasp, Nexus Overlord's days were far from easy. He had to face challenges from both sides--deal with hero raids below while competing with fellow demon kings above. Although it was clearly stated in "The Dungeon Convention" that every new generation of demon king would have a 100-year grace period as novice protection- they still needed to quickly improve their strength if they wished to secure their position in this ever-changing land.

Thus, he created Serence as his steward who served as keeper for Capricorn palace on level twelve managing internal affairs while Nexu Overlord himself closed himself off for cultivation hoping to become the first promoted Demon King among them.

Now it seemed success had come too easily.

All skills held by Connor as Nexus Overlord vanished without a trace only replaced by Deliveryman's occupational talent: [Delivery].

At the bottom lay fine print:

[Deliver packages and gain experience points which will unlock new skills upon leveling up.]

...

Looking around at the waiting courtiers with bowed heads, Connor flipped the crystal ball over and it shattered on the ground with a loud crash. Serence, who had closed his eyes, was unaware of what had happened but felt joy that his king now wielded greater power. He conjured up a bright ghost flame at his fingertips and cried out loudly: "Congratulations to Your Majesty!" All kneeling subjects behind him also emitted different colored flames and proclaimed in unison: "Congratulations to Your Majesty!"

Connor patted Serence's shoulder, gesturing for him to stand.

"Close the city gates and block all messages. Don't let anyone know about my successful job transfer."

"As you command."

Before he could finish speaking, a strong gust of wind pushed open the door to the Demon King Palace. A silver-haired beauty with long legs and a slim waist flew down from the entrance and landed directly on top of Connor.

"Nexus Overlord, have you successfully transferred your job?!"

"Serence, what is going on here?"

"Lilith, come down quickly! You can't offend His Majesty like this!"

"Why would His Majesty feel offended by me? Look, his hands are still lingering on my thighs." Lilith giggled as she spoke.

Connor coughed twice before putting his hands down. The feeling of her thighs awakened memories within him- Lilith was one of the sky dragons he rescued during a mission 100 years ago. She now pledged allegiance to Nexus Citadel as their subject responsible for exploration while also serving as the keeper for Pisces palace located on level one.

With Serence managing internal affairs and Lilith managing external affairs and guarding level one alongside Nexus Overlord himself protecting level thirteen- this was currently Nexus Citadel's only defense strategy.

"Who told you?"

"Do I need anyone else to tell me? It was noon when thunder rumbled across the clear blue sky; shadows filled with black magic surged out from Nexus Citadel covering everything for half an hour before gradually dissipating- clearly indicating that a powerful being had emerged!"

"But can we keep this news under wraps?"

Lilith chuckled: "Who doesn't know about it across this land? Nexus Overlord has been practicing diligently for hundred years seeking breakthroughs in job transfer- now he has succeeded surpassing all demon kings' existence! In future days surely all other demon kings will come bearing gifts to visit him!"

"They will all come?"

Serence added: "Not only demon kings but all heroes throughout this world will apply themselves towards attacking Nexus Citadel. Yet with your strength defeating these mere heroes is nothing difficult right?"

"Hahaha."

"Hahaha."

Serence and Lilith exchanged glances then laughed devilishly together.
