Chapter 3 - Chapter 3 - The Might of Dragon Language Magic

This is not good, Lilith thought to herself.

Human potential comes from the blessing of the Goddess of Light, while demon king potential comes from the power of the original witch. The two cannot be reconciled.

If a demon king wanted to become human, they would have to use forbidden magic and pay the price of a hundred years of life to achieve perfect human transformation (i.e., transforming into human form). Otherwise, there was no way to deceive the appraisal crystal.

"Stop!" Lilith exclaimed.

"I'm very sorry, esteemed Mage Lord. What can I do for you?" The female clerk hurriedly let go of Connor's hand and bowed repeatedly.

"He doesn't need an appraisal. He's my...my..."

Seeing Connor's cold eyes, Lilith didn't dare continue speaking.

The King intended to hide their identity and infiltrate the human world. If their whereabouts were exposed, they could be silenced on the spot but it would certainly cause unnecessary trouble for future undercover work. Since she had volunteered to come along, she couldn't drag them down now.

Fortunately, Lilith was always quick on her feet and regained her composure immediately. "He is my...helper that I found on the side of the road to help carry our luggage."

The female clerk breathed a sigh of relief and smiled apologetically at them. "Since he's a companion of esteemed Mage Lord, there should be no problem."

"Who said there's no problem?" A sharp voice came from behind them.

A handsome young man wearing luxurious clothes with two followers trailing behind him walked over amidst cheers such as "Young master is great". Even the female clerk lowered her head in deference.

Without even looking at Connor once, he stood next to Lilith. "Of course, this beautiful mage has no problems; your talent is as admirable as your appearance." His gaze then shifted towards Connor. "But this worker needs to undergo proper assessment."

"But young master, our previous rules stated that every combat profession member can bring up to two companions when joining," The female clerk dutifully recited each clause by heart but was interrupted before she could finish speaking.

"As of today, that rule is nullified. Everyone must undergo assessment," said the young master decisively.

"Oh dear..."

"What 'oh dear.' This is for safety concerns! Lingang City serves as a hub for kingdom trades; if any demon king subordinates manage to sneak in here - can you take responsibility? Just do what I say!"

"Yes sir," replied the clerk obediently.

The young man softened his fierce gaze and put on a gentle smile as he introduced himself to Lilith. "I apologize for being rude, beautiful Mage Miss. Allow me to make a brief introduction. I am Aaron Gates, one of the inheritors of the triple courier companies - Double Dragon Logistics. From this day forward, I will be taking over as the logistics branch in Lingang City. I assume you're looking for work? If it's alright with you, I would be honored to recommend you."

But Lilith paid no attention to him at all.

Her mind was solely focused on the appraisal result.

From Connor's expression, she could tell that he had passed successfully.

However, it was too dangerous for a demon king to undergo a vocational assessment regardless of how stable their state of mind may be.

The crystal ball lit up with dazzling golden light once again. Everyone gathered around to see what type of profession was stronger than "Mage."

Lilith quickly cast her hand gesture and prepared herself for battle mode at any moment.

As everyone watched with bated breaths, the result slowly began to appear in the air - three large words: "Courier."

Lilith quickly realized what was going on.

Truly worthy of Nexus Overlord! To think that they could create such a perfect disguise!

With this identity as a courier, they could travel freely between various kingdom capitals.

So this is the power after successfully changing professions! She worried about revealing flaws but it was ridiculous; their master had already surpassed all demon kings and couldn't be judged by common sense.

She looked at Connor from afar with his confident smile and became too excited that her legs became weak and almost knelt down while shouting out loud for Nexus Overlord's greatness. She tightly pursed her lips and took deep breaths to suppress her emotions despite people pointing fingers and whispering around them.

"Commoner," Aaron Gates sneered as he looked at the result of the appraisal. "I mean, this attendant is just a commoner. If beautiful Mage Miss is willing to come work for our Double Dragon Logistics, we can provide as many servants like this as needed."

Lilith was about to lose her temper but Connor hugged her waist and pulled her close. "Since the appraisal is done now let's go inside," he said calmly.

"Alright," Lilith replied sweetly, thinking that Nexus Overlord said they have been given one dog's life so she should let this slide.

The young man put on a gentle smile and introduced himself to Lilith. "I apologize for being impolite, beautiful Mage Miss. Allow me to introduce myself briefly. My name is Aaron Gates, one of the inheritors of the Triple Courier Companies - Double Dragon Logistics. I will be taking over as the logistics branch in Lingang City from today onwards. I assume you are looking for work? If so, I would be honored to recommend you."

However, Lilith paid no attention to him at all.

Her thoughts were solely focused on the appraisal result.

From Connor's expression, she could tell that he had passed successfully.

But still, it was too dangerous for a demon king to undergo vocational assessment regardless of how stable their state of mind may be.

The crystal ball lit up with dazzling golden light once again. Everyone crowded around to see what type of profession was stronger than "Mage."

"Alright," Lilith replied sweetly thinking that since Nexus Overlord spared them one life like a dog's life she should let this incident slide.

Lilith held Connor's hand and walked towards the hall, leaving Aaron seething with anger at his place. He felt completely ignored. Being arranged by his father to a second-tier city had already made him quite unhappy. He wanted to recruit a mage and prove his business ability, but the other party didn't even care about him.

What a joke! Even in the royal city, there are plenty of combat professionals fighting each other to get into Double Dragon Logistics. And this damn woman rejected me just because of this courier beside her?

"I can't believe it," someone outside whispered. "Is there really a mage who would give up an invitation from Double Dragon Logistics because of a commoner courier?"

How shameless!

Lilith couldn't take it anymore and was about to take action when hoarse crying sounds came from outside. It seemed that someone was begging Aaron for something.

After the attendant went out to investigate, he came back and reported that there was a ragged young girl holding her mother who had a severe heart attack, begging Double Dragon Logistics to send her mother to the hospital for treatment. But they didn't have any money, so she offered to do anything if Aaron could help them.

Unfortunately, these words landed right on Aaron's nerves.

"No money? Then let her go! We're doing business here, not charity," he said fiercely while glaring at Connor.

"Even work as an ox or horse? Some commoners aren't even worthy of being my ox or horse."

There were many ordinary life professionals present who were very uncomfortable with his attitude and didn't like seeing how he placed so little value on human life. But what could they do? Aaron was born into an influential family and had reached five-star swordsmanship level with incredible mastery of Flame Sword technique that he could easily qualify for promotion as hero anytime soon.

Who could stop him?

The attendant followed orders and went out to drive away the poor girl.

"Oh please, please help me save my mother," the girl cried bitterly.

"Get out of here! Today is my grand day as successor; don't ruin it for me. You over there—go fetch those fireworks from our royal clients' gift bag; you—call in the honor guard band ready some music." In this sad atmosphere, Aaron ordered everyone around like nothing happened while clapping his hands occasionally reminding others: "Why are you all frowning like that? Find something fun for yourselves instead! Don't stop what you're doing or your wages will be cut off immediately! You hear me?! Go back to work!"

Finally, he pointed directly at Connor's nose and said: "You too!"

Connor slapped away Aaron's right hand before stepping forward and stepping on Aaron's left foot without warning. The latter hadn't expected such recklessness from Connor; five-star fighting power wasn't enough time for him to react as he grunted in pain due to intense agony on his face.

Connor smiled and said, "Looking for something fun? I think I have found it, seeing your unhappy face."

"How dare you, commoner!" Aaron shouted before Lilith intervened.

"Get lost!" she exclaimed, incorporating Dragon Language magic into her words.

A powerful sound wave suddenly exploded in everyone's ears. Aaron was lifted several meters away by the strong gust of air. As he tried to stand up, he felt an intense pressure that made him unable to move a muscle and ended up wetting himself.

People who had a basic knowledge of magic bowed down: "Ancient Dragon's Whisper! This is Ancient Dragon's Whisper!"

"Dragon descendant mage!"

"Oh no, this might be a dragon, a real dragon!"

Connor let go of Lilith's hand as the latter transformed into a silver giant dragon that occupied the entire space of the hall. He picked up the little girl and carried her mother on his back. Then he patted her spine and said: "Let us go, Lilith. We are open for business now. The first delivery will be sent to the nearest hospital."

The silver giant dragon spread its wings and the metallic sheen of light swept over the entire Merchant Association building. It was dazzlingly beautiful before enveloping it in shadow.

"Are you ready?" Connor asked.

"Yes," came Lilith's reply.

With a whistling sound that pierced through the sky, they arrived at their destination in an instant.

The hospital staff said that luckily they managed to get there within the golden rescue time and saved the girl's mother's life. However, treatment costs needed to be paid within one month; but how they would pay for it was not their concern as they had already completed their job as couriers.

"Thank you so much," the girl said gratefully.

"It is nothing," replied Connor with a wave of his hand before noticing something heavy around his wrist - there was inexplicably an additional black bracelet on his arm.
