I woke up in the morning and, after cleaning myself up. I went to the dining hall. I could still not believe that this body was of a 2 year old kid. I looked about as old as an average 5 year old. It looked like the children of this world grew up faster.
I went ahead and sat at the table. My mother chuckled a little seeing me struggling to get on the chair. It was because I didn't allow anyone to lift me up and make me sit on the chair. I was in the body of a 2 year old, but my mind was of a 21 year old, and it felt embarrassing to be lifted like that.
I finally got seated and started eating my breakfast. After finishing, I was about to get up when I heard the voice of my father, "Ethan, do you want to learn the way of sword?"
As soon as he spoke, my mother glared at him, "Are you crazy? He is still my little boy. He is still in his baby years, and you want him to start training. I don't want him to be a brute like you. Don't you agree, my Ethan?"
She had a small tear roll down her eye. I was in awe of her acting skills and gave her a secret thumbs-up.
I still had many ways to get stronger, but thinking about my father's offer, I accepted, "Yes, Father."
"Are you sure, my little Ethan, will you really be okay?" my mother asked with concern.
"I am sure, mother. I will become very strong and protect you."
My mother looked at me worryingly, like I was going away forever. Did I act a little too much? Was she not expecting that answer from me? But if that was the case, then my father wouldn't have asked me that question.
While I thought that, mother suddenly came forward and hugged me.
"I am sorry, Ethan. I couldn't give you the childhood you needed. It would have been better if you were born without the need to bear responsibility at such a young age. If the times were peaceful, you could have been happier."
I felt a little heavy in my heart when I heard those words. I could also see from the memories that the original Ethan was also very mature for his age and acted like a grown up kid instead. Maybe it was the environment that he grew up in that caused him to grow up faster.
After changing into training attire, me and father went towards the training grounds.
"Listen Ethan, what I will teach you is our family's ancestral sword technique. But before that, you must train your stamina and basics. Starting now, you will start training under the knights until I feel that you are ready to accept my teachings."
Just as he finished speaking, the knights started gathering for their regular training.
A knight wearing a white chest plate and armor came forward and saluted, "Good Morning, Sir!"
"Good Morning to you too, Roland. Ethan meet Roland Blackwood. He is the Commander of our family knights."
"Hello, Sir Ronald."
"Roland, this is Ethan. As you may already know him, I will keep it short. Starting tomorrow, he will train his stamina and basics with the knights. I am leaving his basic training up to you."
Roland replied, "You can count on me, sir. I will make sure that the young lord remains unrivaled among his peers and surpasses the limits of power."
After saying Thanks to Ronald, me and father left the training grounds.
As I walked with my father back to our manor, I couldn't help but feel a mix of emotions. On one hand, I was excited to start my training and become stronger, but on the other hand, I couldn't help but feel a little overwhelmed at the thought of what was to come.
My father noticed my hesitation and placed a reassuring hand on my shoulder. "Don't worry, Ethan. I know it won't be easy, but with hard work and dedication, you can become one of the strongest in the land."
I nodded, trying to hide my doubts. I knew it wouldn't be easy, but I was determined to see it through.
As we entered our quarters, I could see my mother waiting for us with a worried expression. "Is everything alright, my love?" she asked, looking at both me and my father.
"Yes, everything is fine. Ethan has agreed to start his training tomorrow," my father replied, giving me a pat on the back.
My mother looked at me with a mixture of pride and concern. "You're growing up so fast, my little Ethan. I just hope you don't forget to enjoy your childhood amidst all the training and responsibilities."
I smiled at her, hoping to ease her worries. "Don't worry, mother. I'll still find time to play and have fun."
After spending some time with my parents and little sister, I went to my room to rest and prepare for the next day. As I laid down on the bed, I couldn't help but think about the challenges that lay ahead.
