Christine sat upright on her bed, her eyes tightly shut as she tried to focus on her plan. However, as a creature with heightened senses, Christine finds it a bit difficult not to hear the noises, especially now that there is a loud noise that seems to be coming from fireworks, making it difficult for her to concentrate..
"Don't be distracted… Christine… focus!" she muttered under her breath, determined to stick to her task.
She thought she could do this easily. It's just flirting with food, ahem, a man. With her striking beauty, it shouldn't be difficult.
However, it turned out that the man she was flirting with showed no interest in her whatsoever, making her confused about what she should do..
Luckily, she got close to the Queen, who turned out to be William's mother, and now the plan was to make the Queen like her so much that she thought she was the best match for William.
"But… isn't that gonna take too long? Can't I do something quicker?" muttered Christine under her breath as she tilted her head.
She needed to get closer to William as soon as possible so that she could gather information about their war plans, but she couldn't just waltz up to him and demand answers.
"But, isn't there something else I should be worried about?" thought Christine then opened her eyes and stared at something that was on the table.
It is food.
Not that kind of food, but the food eaten by humans.
Earlier the maid who brought clothes for her came back to meet her and brought some food, luckily the woman left immediately when Christine told her that she didn't have to wait for her.
Christine completely forgot that humans needed to eat to survive, unlike vampires who don't need to eat for days.
If she was going to pass herself off as a human, she would have to eat too, or risk arousing suspicion.
Today she might get away with the tea when she was with the Queen because they were talking, or the food that the maid brought for her.
However, what about the day ahead?
"I can think about that later, now just focus on my plan... What should I do to get close to that human!" thought Christine in frustration.
If only Cassius… Ah, no! Stop hoping that the man will help her!
Christine then tried to rack her brain, thinking hard about the plan she was going to do.
It seemed… she would still choose the plan to get closer to the Queen, since it was the plan that had the better chance at the moment.
*BOOM*
Then she will...
*Shuuuu BOOM*
"Ahh! Why is it so noisy?!" Christine exclaimed in frustration, unable to ignore the distracting sounds any longer.
In a fit of annoyance, she got out of bed and walked over to the window, hoping to catch a glimpse of the display.
"If I knew it would be this noisy and make me can't focus at all, I should have followed the Queen and got closer to her," muttered Christine who was feeling a bit irritated.
Christine had seen fireworks before, but she had never experienced such a constant bombardment of light and noise.
"But… it's really beautiful," Christine muttered looking up at the sky which was now beautiful with various colors because of the fireworks.
Unknowingly, Christine's lips immediately smiled. Not a fake smile as usual, but a genuine smile to see the beauty. For a moment, she forgot about her annoyance.
Suddenly, Christine's expression immediately changed as her hearing caught someone's voice.
Christine then tried to focus, so she could hear the voice clearly.
"Call His Majesty and Crown Prince. The Queen…"
Christine's forehead creased at the sound of the panicked voice so she couldn't hear it very clearly.
She could also hear voices of people who were surprised, then finally seemed to be crying.
Curiosity got the best of Christine, and she couldn't resist investigating the source of the commotion.
As she walked towards the sound, the crowd grew larger and louder.
Several women, including the two old women who accompanied the Queen earlier, were seen crying, while the men only showed sad faces.
Christine could see William there too, a man she had only met again after several hours.
"Hey, Wil-" Christine, who raised her hand to greet William, immediately lowered her hand again when she noticed the change in his facial expression. He looked cold and distant, and his voice was laced with anger when he spoke.
"Where is it?" William demanded, causing the people who had been crying to fall silent.
Christine flinched slightly at that. She knew that William wasn't a very friendly man, but she didn't expect the man to act so cold.
"Didn't you hear what I was saying? Where is the damn vampire who killed Her Majesty!" William's words caused a stir in the crowd.
"What?!"
The previously quiet atmosphere immediately turned to hear the surprised woman's voice.
"The Queen has died?! Hey! Let me pass!" Christine said, unable to contain her surprise. She pushed her way through the crowd until she was at the forefront.
As soon as Christine was finally at the forefront, she could see the old woman who had smiled at her this afternoon, was now lying on the ground with her eyes closed. The bite marks that were very familiar to Christine were also visible on the woman's neck.
"D*mn it!" Christine cursed under her breath.
The Queen is the only chance for her plan and now she was dead.
As Christine tried to compose herself, she realized there was a sudden silence and everyone started staring at her.
"I mean, The Queen is such a good woman. She treated me well when we first met. Why did she have to die? The Queen promised me to show this kingdom and I'm so looking forward to it! D*mn it" Christine said then started pretending to cry.
It wasn't difficult for her because she used to pretend to cry in front of her parents. Well… Christine admitted that she wasn't exactly a good kid.
Everyone was silent when they heard what Christine said, some of them even started to wonder who the woman who was sitting on the floor near the Queen's body was.
While William was also surprised to see Christine crying over the Queen like that. Since when did Christine and his mother get close?
However, William pushed his thoughts aside and asked about the vampire who killed his mother. The urgency in his voice made it clear that he was determined to find the killer and bring them to justice.

Today, Maeteron's kingdom is in mourning.
The queen that they love and cherish, has died killed by a vampire.
People were crying at the funeral, including Christine who was wearing an all-black dress with long sleeves, looking like a sad and lost soul.
The woman also attended the Queen's funeral, even though she was stopped because she was an outsider, but luckily the Queen's two ladies-in-waiting testified that she was quite close to the Queen.
Even though they didn't like her that much, after seeing how she cried yesterday, they couldn't help but allow her to see the Queen's final moments.
After the long funeral ceremony was over, Christine walked back to her room with a sluggish body, her face was also pale and her eyes were puffy, making those who saw her feel a little sorry for the woman because of her appearance.
Once in her room, Christine looked around, even the next room she had never been in before to see if anyone could hear her.
After making sure no one heard her, Christine immediately wiped away the tears still clinging to her cheeks.
"Ahh… I cried too much," Christine said in a hoarse voice. Her expression looked slightly annoyed. "See? My voice is even hoarse!" muttered Christine under her breath.
She did regret the Queen's death, but to be honest she wasn't too sad about the human's death.
Well… they are for eating, right?
"Still, why did they have to eat the Queen? Can't they get another human?" Christine asked herself, feeling annoyed that her plan had been disrupted.
Now, what should she do?
