Chapter 3 - Chapter 3 : In too deep

The next day, Sully woke up early, unable to shake the feeling of anxiety that had plagued him since he got involved with the memory traders. He couldn't let his family be put in danger because of his foolish decisions.

He got dressed and headed to his office. As the CEO of a small tech company, he knew he had to focus on his work and not let his personal life interfere.

But as he sat at his desk, his mind kept wandering back to the memory traders. He had to find a way out of this mess, and fast.

Just then, his phone rang. It was an unknown number, but he picked it up anyway.

"Sully, it's me," a familiar voice said on the other end of the line.

It was the memory trader from the night before.

"I need you to meet me tonight. There's been a change of plans," the trader said, his voice urgent.

Sully hesitated, but he knew he had to find out what was going on. "Okay. Where do you want to meet?"

"Come to the alley behind the old warehouse on 5th street at midnight. And come alone."

Sully knew that it was a risky move, but he had no other choice. "Okay. I'll be there."

As he hung up the phone, Sully's mind raced with possibilities. What could the memory traders want now? And what could he do to get out of this mess?

He spent the rest of the day trying to focus on his work, but his mind kept wandering back to the meeting. He knew that he had to be careful and come up with a plan.

Finally, when the workday was over, Sully headed home. He tried to act normal around his family, but he could tell that his wife was still worried about the memory traders.

As the night wore on, Sully became increasingly anxious. He knew that he had to go to the meeting, but he also knew that it was dangerous.

Finally, at eleven-thirty, he slipped out of the house and got into his car. He drove to the old warehouse, parked his car, and walked to the alley.

As he approached, he could see the memory trader waiting for him. He was alone, but he looked nervous.

"What's going on?" Sully asked, his voice barely above a whisper.

"There's been a change of plans," the trader said, his voice shaking. "They found out about our plan. They're coming after us."

Sully's heart sank. He knew that this was bad news. "What are we going to do?"

The trader looked around, as if expecting to be attacked at any moment. "We have to move fast. We have to find the memory before they do."

Sully nodded, feeling a sense of dread wash over him. He knew that this was going to be dangerous. But he had no other choice. He had to help the memory traders find the memory and get out of this mess.

Together, they set off into the night, the fate of their lives and the future of their society hanging in the balance.

Sully and the memory trader walked through the deserted streets, their eyes scanning the darkness for any signs of danger. They moved quickly, trying to stay hidden from view.

But as they turned a corner, they were suddenly surrounded by a group of men in black suits. Sully's heart raced as he realized that they had been caught.

"What are you doing here?" one of the men demanded, his voice cold and threatening.

Sully recognized him immediately as one of the officers from the police station. He was one of Sully's old friends, but he couldn't remember his name.

Before he could respond, the memory trader stepped forward. "We're just looking for something. We think it might be around here."

The officer narrowed his eyes, looking suspicious. "What are you looking for?"

Sully spoke up, hoping to diffuse the situation. "It's nothing, just a personal matter. We'll be on our way."

But the officer wasn't satisfied. "I don't believe you. What's going on here?"

Sully's mind raced as he tried to come up with an excuse. He knew that he couldn't tell the officer about the memory traders. That would put everyone in danger.

Finally, he decided to tell the truth, or at least part of it. "We're looking for a memory. It's important to us."

The officer looked at Sully for a long moment, as if weighing his options. Finally, he spoke. "Okay. I won't ask any more questions. But you two need to be careful. This is dangerous territory."

Sully nodded, grateful for the officer's understanding. He knew that he had put himself and his family in danger by getting involved with the memory traders. But he couldn't turn back now.

As they walked away, Sully couldn't shake the feeling of unease. He knew that they were still in danger. But he also knew that he had to help the memory traders find the memory before it was too late.

The night was long and treacherous, but they finally found the memory. It was hidden in an old storage unit, covered in dust and cobwebs.

Sully and the memory trader retrieved the memory and made their way back to the alley, their hearts pounding with excitement and fear.

As they reached the end of the alley, they were suddenly surrounded by the men in black suits again. This time, there was no way out.

Sully's mind raced as he tried to come up with a plan. He knew that they were in deep trouble, and that there was no way out.

But then, something unexpected happened. The officer from before stepped forward, his gun drawn.

"What's going on here?" he demanded, his voice stern and authoritative.

Sully and the memory trader looked at each other, uncertain of what to do next.

Finally, Sully spoke up. "We were just looking for something. It's nothing important."

The officer looked at Sully for a long moment, as if trying to decide whether or not to believe him.

Finally, he spoke. "Okay. I'll let you go this time. But I suggest you stay out of trouble."

Sully nodded, grateful for the officer's intervention. He knew that he had narrowly avoided a dangerous situation, and that he had to be more careful in the future.

As they walked away, Sully couldn't shake the feeling of unease. He knew that they had narrowly avoided disaster, and that there was no telling what would happen next.

But one thing was certain: he had to find a way to get out of this mess before it was too late.

Sully's heart was pounding in his chest as they walked away from the scene. He couldn't believe how close they had come to being caught. It was time for him to get out of this dangerous game.

"Listen, I'm out of this," Sully said to the memory trader, his voice shaking slightly. "I can't do this anymore. I need to go back to my family."

But the memory trader just laughed. "You think you can just walk away from this? You're in too deep, Sully. There's no turning back now."

Sully's heart sank as the memory trader pulled out a knife and held it to his neck. "You're not going anywhere, Sully. Not until we're finished."

Sully's mind raced as he tried to think of a way out of this. He knew that he was in way over his head, but he also knew that he couldn't just give up.

As they stood there in the darkness, Sully felt a sense of dread wash over him. He knew that he had to find a way to escape the memory trader's grasp, but he had no idea how.

The memory trader stared at Sully for a long moment, his eyes cold and calculating. Sully could feel the sharp edge of the knife pressing against his skin, and he knew that he was running out of time.
