Sully knew that he had to keep his family safe, no matter what. He couldn't risk getting them involved in the dangerous game of memory trading, and he had to make sure that they were protected at all times.
As he walked into his home, he could see the worry on his wife's face. "Sully, what's going on?" she asked, concern etched in her voice.
"I have to go away for a while," Sully said, his voice heavy with regret. "But I want you and the kids to be safe."
His wife's eyes widened in surprise. "What? Go away? For how long?"
"I don't know," Sully admitted. "But it's important. There are some dangerous people out there, and I need to make sure that they don't come after us."
His wife looked at him, her eyes filled with fear. "What kind of people? What are you involved in, Sully?"
Sully hesitated for a moment before telling her about his encounter with the memory trader, and the dangerous game he had gotten caught up in. He explained how he had stumbled upon this power, and how he hoped to use it to bring down the memory trading ring.
"I can't let you or the kids get hurt," Sully said firmly. "That's why I have a friend who will be looking after you while I'm gone. He's a police officer, and he'll make sure that you're safe."
His wife nodded slowly, her eyes filled with tears. "I trust you, Sully," she said softly. "But please, be careful. I don't want to lose you."
Sully hugged his wife tightly, feeling the weight of the world on his shoulders. He knew that he had a lot of work to do, and he wasn't sure what kind of danger he would face. But he was determined to do whatever it takes to protect his family, and to bring down the memory trading ring once and for all.
Sully met with the police officer, Detective Reynolds, in his office. The room was dimly lit, with files and papers scattered around the desk.
"Thanks for coming, Sully," Reynolds said, gesturing for him to take a seat. "I wanted to talk to you about the rumors that have been going around the city."
Sully nodded, his heart pounding in his chest. He knew exactly what Reynolds was referring to: the illegal memory trading that had been going on in the shadows of the city.
"I've been doing some digging," Reynolds continued. "And I think I have a lead on who might be behind all of this. But I need your help."
Sully leaned forward, his interest piqued. "What do you need me to do?"
"I need you to keep your eyes and ears open," Reynolds said. "See if you can find out anything about who's involved in this. And if you do, let me know. I'll take it from there."
Sully nodded, feeling a sense of relief wash over him. He was glad to be working with someone who was on the right side of the law, someone who could help him take down the memory trading ring.
"I'll do what I can," Sully said, determined to put an end to this once and for all.
Reynolds gave him a stern look. "And be careful, Sully. These people aren't to be taken lightly. They're dangerous, and they won't hesitate to hurt you or your family."
Sully nodded, feeling a chill run down his spine. He knew the risks, but he also knew that he couldn't back down. He had a power that he had barely begun to explore, and he had to use it for the greater good.
As he left the police station and made his way back to his car, he felt a sense of determination wash over him. He was going to bring down the memory trading ring, no matter what it takes.
Sully froze as a man in black appeared at his car window. He had a hood pulled over his head, hiding his face in the shadows.
"Where do you think you're going, memory boy?" the man said, his voice low and menacing.
Sully's heart raced as he realized that this man was likely one of the memory traders. He had to stay calm, he couldn't let them know that he was working with the police.
"I'm just heading home," Sully said, trying to keep his voice steady.
The man laughed. "Don't lie to me, memory boy. We know who you are, and we know what you're up to."
Sully's mind raced as he tried to think of a way out of this. He had to get away, he had to protect his family and himself.
Without warning, the man reached through the window and grabbed Sully by the collar, pulling him out of the car.
Sully struggled, but the man was too strong. He felt the cold metal of a knife pressed against his throat.
"Listen to me, memory boy," the man hissed. "If you don't stay out of our business, we'll make sure that you and your family regret it."
Sully's mind raced as he tried to think of a way out of this. He knew that he couldn't take on these people alone, but he also knew that he had to do something.
"Okay, okay," Sully said, his voice trembling. "I'll stay out of your way."
The man laughed and released him, disappearing into the shadows.
Sully slumped against his car, his heart racing. He knew that he couldn't let this scare him off, but he also knew that he had to be careful. These people were dangerous, and he didn't want to put his family in harm's way.
Taking a deep breath, he got back into his car and drove home, determined to come up with a plan to take down the memory traders once and for all.
