Chapter 6 - Chapter 6 : the Rocky memory highest

Sully knew that time was running out. The memory traders had made it clear that they wouldn't hesitate to harm him and his family if he continued to interfere with their business. He needed to act quickly if he wanted to keep them safe.

He considered his options carefully. He could try to take down the memory traders himself, but he knew that was risky. He could also continue working with the police, but that would mean playing by their rules and possibly endangering his family.

Then, an idea struck him. What if he could gain enough power to take down the memory traders on his own? He knew that some of the most valuable memories were those from World War II, and if he could acquire them, he could gain a significant amount of power.

But how could he get his hands on those memories? He couldn't just go to a memory trader and ask for them. He would need to find someone willing to sell them on the black market.

Sully knew that this was a dangerous game to play, but he felt like he had no other choice. He would have to sell some of his own illegal memories to raise enough money to buy the World War II memories.

He set to work, carefully selecting memories that he knew would fetch a high price on the black market. He found a buyer, and after some negotiating, he was able to get a good price for them.

With the money in hand, Sully set out to find the World War II memories. It wasn't easy, but after several weeks of searching, he finally found a trader who was willing to sell them.

The memories were even more powerful than he had anticipated. As he delved into them, he could feel his body growing stronger, his mind more focused.

But he knew that he couldn't stop there. He would need to continue acquiring more and more powerful memories if he wanted to stand a chance against the memory traders.

Sully was torn. He knew that what he was doing was dangerous and could have serious consequences, but he couldn't help but feel like it was his only option. He had to protect his family, no matter what.

As he left the memory trader's shop, memories of World War II still fresh in his mind, he knew that he had crossed a line. He had become a memory trader himself, albeit a different kind. He could only hope that he wouldn't regret his decision.

Sully tried to maintain his composure and replied, "I've been going through some things lately, trying to figure out what I want in life."

The police officer looked at him skeptically but didn't press any further. "Anyway, I wanted to talk to you about those rumors that have been going around the city about illegal memories being traded."

Sully felt a pang of guilt in his chest but managed to keep his expression neutral. "What rumors?"

The police officer sighed. "Don't play dumb with me, Sully. You know exactly what I'm talking about. There's a black market for memories, and I have reason to believe that you're involved."

Sully's heart was racing, but he tried to stay calm. "I don't know anything about that."

The police officer narrowed his eyes. "I'm not stupid, Sully. You've been acting strange lately, and now you're denying any knowledge of the illegal memory trade. I thought we were friends, but if you're involved in this, I have no choice but to bring you in."

Sully's mind was racing, and he knew he had to act fast. He couldn't let the police officer find out about his involvement in the memory trade, or else his family would be in danger. "Wait, I can explain everything. Let's just talk about this calmly."

The police officer hesitated for a moment before nodding. "Okay, but you better start talking fast."

Sully took a deep breath and began to explain his involvement in the memory trade, leaving out the part about selling illegal memories without the police officer's knowledge. He told the police officer about his ability to absorb memories and how he had been using it to acquire more power to protect his family. He also mentioned his desire to obtain memories of World War II, hoping to use them to become even stronger.

The police officer listened intently, his expression softening as Sully spoke. "I understand why you did what you did, but you have to understand that what you're doing is dangerous. The illegal memory trade is a serious crime, and I can't just turn a blind eye to it."

Sully nodded, feeling relieved that the police officer seemed to understand his motives. "I know, and I'm sorry. I just want to do whatever it takes to protect my family."

The police officer put a hand on Sully's shoulder. "I get that, and I respect your devotion to your family. But you have to promise me that you'll stop trading in illegal memories. It's not worth risking everything you have."

Sully nodded, feeling grateful for the police officer's understanding. "I promise, I'll stop."

The police officer gave him a small smile before getting up to leave. "Good. And just so you know, I'm always here if you need me. Don't hesitate to reach out if you're ever in trouble."

Sully watched as the police officer walked away, feeling a sense of relief wash over him. He knew he had to be more careful from now on, but at least he had someone he could trust.

Sully's heart was pounding as he made his way through the crowded market, clutching the stolen memory crystals tightly in his pocket. He had never felt so exhilarated and terrified at the same time. He knew the risks he was taking, but the thought of the power that these memories could give him was too much to resist.

As he walked through the market, he noticed the traders eyeing him suspiciously, but he tried to act as casual as possible, blending in with the crowd. Suddenly, he felt a hand on his shoulder and he turned to see a group of men in black standing behind him.

"We know what you're up to, memory boy," one of them said, grabbing Sully's arm roughly.

Sully's heart sank. He had been caught. He knew he was in big trouble.

But then something strange happened. As the men held onto him, Sully felt a surge of power coursing through his body. He closed his eyes and focused, and suddenly he was able to see their memories.

He saw that these men were not just ordinary memory traders, but members of a secret organization that was trying to overthrow the government and establish their own rule. Sully knew that he couldn't let these dangerous memories fall into their hands.

With a sudden burst of strength, Sully broke free from the men and made a run for it, dodging through the crowd as fast as he could. He could hear the men shouting and cursing behind him, but he didn't dare look back.

Finally, Sully made it to his hiding place and collapsed onto the floor, panting and sweating. He knew that he had narrowly escaped a dangerous situation, but he also knew that he had gained something even more valuable: a new power that he had never even dreamed of.

As he lay there catching his breath, Sully realized that he was going to have to be much more careful from now on. The stakes were higher than ever, and he couldn't afford to make any mistakes.

But he also knew that he was up to the challenge. With his newfound power and his determination to protect his family, Sully was ready to take on whatever challenges lay ahead.
