A strong gust of wind blew as the enshrined mirror continued to radiate light, the Gray-Eyed Girl's emotions caused the environment around them to respond. It soon ruined the peacefulness of the evening. The shrine maidens outside the main building started to fear what was happening around them, they did not know what caused such a fierce flurry. The suddenness of it startled them.
"What do you mean? I didn't hear any voices." The High Priest stated. He found the mysterious fox girl's actions to be quite suspicious.
"The divine object inside that building is not supposed to be in the hands of humans! It is too dangerous." The Gray-Eyed Girl shouted. An expression of pure rage contorted her face as she continued to try to free herself, pointing a finger at the shrine's main building. She completely forgotten about the reason why she followed the High Priest to the shrine in the first place.
"What? We had it enshrined here for centuries, saying that now doesn't make any sense. My predecessor never informed me about it being dangerous." The High Priest argued. His grip on the girl's arm tightened as he tried to stop her from approaching the building. He suddenly felt fear, and his carefree demeanor disappeared as the fox girl started to express anger. He never expected the girl in front of him to get upset over such an object nor did he intend to anger her.
Is this human just a mere fool? That mirror is not supposed to be in the human realm. I wonder how it got here... The Gray-Eyed Girl resisted harder. Her feet dug into the worshipper's path as she tried to fight against the High Priest's opposition, creating a small crater underneath her feet. She wanted to bring the object back to the Divine Realm with her to keep it away from any humans that could misuse it.
"Say... Would you answer one question, Human?" The Gray-Eyed Girl sighed. She lowered her gaze, and her gold-colored hair covered her eyes as she did this. The facial markings on her face started glowing as her face was concealed.
"Yes, of course. W-What do you wanna know?" The High Priest replied. His voice trembled as the wind blew harder, and some of the leaves from the nearby trees started falling off their branches as the powerful breeze caused them to sway back and forth.
"What is that mirror doing here? That is one of the sacred treasures, it should not be here but in the Divine Realm!" The Gray-Eyed Girl roared. Clouds started to form in the clear night sky, blocking the moon's light from reaching the city below, its color slowly turning gray as the thunder started to boom throughout the sky.
"A samurai brought it here thousands of years ago. That is all I know, we did not find anything else about it on our records." The High Priest explained. He started to fear the chance of him being hit with the divine punishment that he imagined as he noticed what was happening in the sky. This caused him to gulp as he watched the heavenly body slowly get engulfed.
This girl is more dangerous than Yui. I need to be more cautious around her, one wrong move may get me struck unintentionally. And I must contact the Earth's Immortal Management about this later as well. The High Priest concluded. His survival instincts were pushed into overdrive as the unforeseen change in the weather persisted.
Meanwhile, the broom-holding Shrine Maiden quickly told the others to take shelter inside the prayer hall once she heard the rumbling after she told the High Priest to do the same. The maiden's asagutsu clacked loudly as they started to run toward the aforementioned structure, they thought an unexpected storm had come. They did not know what caused such strange weather phenomenon, they could only watch the High Priest speak to seemingly no one in particular from afar. All of them found the man's actions very odd and out-of-character for a person of his position.
That didn't explain why it was here... What a pain. The Gray-Eyed Girl sighed. She was disappointed that her effort to investigate led her nowhere.
"Let go of me this instant, Human! Or I swear... I will smite you for your insolence!" The Gray-Eyed Girl warned. The thunderbolts got louder as her vexation reached its peak, and her desire of retrieving the mirror grew stronger by the second. More body markings appeared all over her body as she prepared to strike the High Priest, her facial expression showed no intention of sparing the High Priest's life. The shrine maidens nearby all had an expression of fear as they watched the High Priest's scared reaction. Her kind has always valued artifacts such as the mirror located in this shrine.
"I-I hope you forgive me for my foolishness, but that mirror is needed by this shrine. It is used by us humans in order to worship the Goddess Amaterasu. Without it, this shrine may not be able to function normally." The Head Priest pleaded. He loosened his grip on the girl's arm, slowly prostrating himself in front of the enraged spirit.
"I do not care about such trifles! What I wanna know is how it got here!" The Gray-Eyed Girl's voice boomed. As this happened, a hurricane siren-like alarm went off all over the city as the municipality's natural disaster detection system detected the change in weather. It was followed by an announcement via the city's PA system which cautioned the citizens about the dangerous meteorological conditions.
