Inside the newly constructed control room of the Earth's Immortal Management headquarters, multiple people wearing military-like uniforms sat in front of hologram-like screens. Each station's display showed a map of a specific prefecture. It also showed round-shaped blips that served as markers to indicate each city that is located within the station's assigned region which gave it an appearance of an atlas that you would find inside of any JRPG.
In the middle of the chamber, there was a captain's chair-like seat along with the same hologram-like screen located in front of it. There was also a white-haired fox girl that sat on it, she wore a serious expression on her face. She was the newly-appointed Commander of the first squadron and her name was Yui. Her blue-colored eyes were focused on the display in front of her as a pie chart was displayed on her monitor. It represented how many crimes were committed by each non-human race within the country, every being had an assigned color on it. This updated every few seconds as the crime rate within the nation changed, this served as a method to keep her informed as she sat inside the room. A breath escaped her lips as she recalled the events of the attack that was started by the Nekomata Clan a few years ago, the reason why she is now in such a high position. The memories of the battle was still fresh on her mind.
Why are the crime rates not improving...? Yui groaned. She felt disappointed by what she is being shown, a frown slowly forming on her mouth.
This was the situation before an alarm went off within the room, a larger-sized display in the front corner of the room showed an alert about a new immortal being making its appearance within Tokyo's vicinity. A message also played via the building's PA system and it stated: "A being with the alert rank SSS has been detected. I repeat, a being with the alert rank SSS has been detected. This is not a drill." Its volume was loud enough to wake anyone from their slumber. Among all of the alerts that the speaker system could've mentioned, "SSS" was the most dangerous one overall. This level has the potential to destroy multiple prefectures if Yui failed to intervene with the threat.
"Do we have a reading on what it is?" Yui inquired. She immediately jumped into action as her attention was diverted to the current situation, she left her seat as she prepared to find out the answer. The central display switched to a live video feed of a shrine that was located near the Saitama prefecture border where a fox girl with golden tails stood along with a High Priest. The fox girl's expression showed a scowl that was directed at the High Priest as the weather around them changed.
"It is a Spirit-class, Ma'am! A powerful one at that! As for the location..." Someone responded. The video got distorted as a thunder clap was heard, which made it difficult to see what was happening. The display switched again, but this time it showed the location of the border between Tokyo and Saitama was located along with a red blip that represented the location of the shrine.
"Now things have just gotten exciting.... Don't you think so, Yui?" A fellow fox spirit remarked. An amused expression on her face as she watched the events unfold in front of her. She was bored of standing still next to Yui's seat and now that something is happening, she could not help but be vocal about it.
We may need assistance from the other squadrons on this one. Yui sighed again. She did not care about what her companion had just uttered, the urgency of this matter was not something that should be thrilled about. Without missing a beat, Yui started to think about how to deal with the current state of affairs. She sat back down and closed her eyes as she crossed her arms. Her understanding on how to deal with such a dangerous opponent was scarce at best considering the low chance of getting such a high alert level.
"This is the first time we got an S, isn't it?" The other fox spirit continued. Her eyes glittered as she observed the dangerous assailant, she imagined how she could defeat such a highly-dangerous enemy. She knew it was impossible to do it alone but she can dream of it happening.
"Could you quiet down, Kuro? I'm trying to think here." Yui complained. She opened one eye in order to look at her associate, her concentration wavered as she heard Kuro continue with her energetic prattling.
"My apologies." Kuro bowed. Immediately going silent as she was instructed. The other individuals inside the control room continued with their work as if nothing had happened.
