Here I was on my way to Queensland, Australia and yes, you heard right, Queensland, Australia. Now you must be wondering why an Arizona girl would fly to Queensland, Australia. Well, you see, my parents had unfortunately died in a car accident and their deaths were my gateway to Queensland, where I get the incredible pleasure of staying with my grandfather, who, by the way, I know nothing about.
Hooray!
I found it ridiculous, I mean I’m twenty-one, basically an adult, who can take care of myself. But this was my father’s dying wish and I wouldn’t dare to disappoint him, so here I was, sitting in an extremely uncomfortable plane next to an oversized man who all of a sudden started sweating buckets as he slept with his mouth open that howled loud snores.
Just fucking great!
Leaving my life back in Arizona was hard and honestly, I was scared, hell, I was terrified. Queensland was unknown to me, although it was my parents’ birth and hometown. But here I am on my own, traveling to a place so unknown, to live with a man that’s only been present in a fuzzy memory from when I was three. Anybody in my position would probably be scared and anxious out of their minds.
God, this is so nerve-wracking, what if he’s two-faced? What if he’s a psycho that smuggles women in exchange for drugs? Oh damn, I hope this plane crashes, I don’t want to be anyone’s slut-
“Attention! Ladies and gentlemen, your flight to Queensland will land in an hour,” the flight attendant said as I mentally groaned before a tap on the shoulder caught my attention.
“Excuse me, miss?” the man beside me called out as his voice came out shaky and nervous. Impatiently rolling my eyes, I turned to face the man as I struggled to control my facial expression, “What’s up?” I asked with raised eyebrows as the man smiled sheepishly, “Um, could you move up a bit, I need to use the bathroom,” he said as I scoffed, “Dude, didn’t you hear what she just said, we’re about to land in an hour,” I said as the man began to whine in discomfort.
“Please, I need to-
BAZAAR!
OH. MY. GOD!!!
All of my senses immediately shut down and I felt like I was about to pass out as the deadly stench began to cave in on me.
“I’m sorry, I-
BLAAAAAR!
“OH HELL NO, GET ME OFF THIS FUCKING PLANE!” I yelled, quickly taking off my seatbelt before grabbing onto the seat in front of me as the commotion alerted the flight attendant, “Miss, what seemed to be the prob- Oh my god!” The flight attendant tried to ask but was stopped midway as she got a hold of the toxic stench, which caused her to cup her face as she backed away.
“I’m sorry,” the man said as he was on the verge of crying, “Oh would you shut the fuck up.” I snapped, as it became the worst hour of my life.
…
The plane landed and Rosalie immediately grabbed her things before leaving, all while cursing under her breath as the passing passengers glanced at her in pity.
“I’m sorry for the troubles on the plane, miss,” the flight attendant said as Rosalie and the passengers exited the plane and into the airport, “Thank you, I appreciate the apology, although I expected them from someone else,” she said, gritting through her teeth as she directed the last words to the man, who hastily moved away in fear, “But thank you, I appreciate your efforts, I guess things like that, happens,” she said so unsurely earning a chuckle from the woman as she nodded, “Your welcome, and thank you for being so understanding, I guess,” she said as her last words mocked Rosalie’s unsureness earning a sarcastic laugh from Rosalie.
“But do enjoy your day,” she said as Rosalie flashed her a smile before rolling her eyes as the woman walked away, “Stupid airplane, stupid fat ass man, stupid Australia, stupid, stupid, stupid!” Rosalie annoyingly mumbled as she made sure she had everything before her grandfather came to pick her up.
“Benjamin was right, you are a feisty little thing,” said a deep lazy voice followed by a mischievous bawdy chuckle causing Rosalie to look up, blessing her eyes with the sight of two men, 6′4, trim built, jet black hair with one being longer than the other as he rocked a fashionably thick jet black beard, while the other one had short curly wet like hair as his beard was nicely trimmed and marked.
They both had similar features, striking brown eyes, thick black eyebrows with a single slash on the edge, thick full lips, defined sharp jawlines, and romanesque noses. Dazing at their appearance, they flashed a full grin in amusement causing her to swallow at the sight of their gorgeous eye-blinding teeth that made her heart skip a beat
Such a perfect combination.
Both men gave that sexuality flare that seemed present with or without them trying as they had that older man allure that seemed to pull her in.
“Green is my favorite color, dollface,” said the man with the full caveman beard as his rich deep voice sent shivers down her spine causing her to quickly snapped out of her man-hungry daze, immediately moving her eyes from the man’s nicely fitted army green trousers, “Ew, don’t call me that, and who are you?” She asked as the one with the trim beard raised an eyebrow with a lazy grin plastered on his face.
“I’m Genesis and this is my brother Giovanni,” he said in the same deep lazy tone, Rosalie raised an eyebrow at the word ‘brother’ as the word ‘twins’ instantly came to her mind making her uncontrollably excited, “Your grandfather sent us to pick you up,” he said as Rosalie crossed her arms, “Why couldn’t he pick me up?” She asked as Giovanni sighed, “I’m afraid a man, who’s paralyzed from the waist down can’t drive, Rose,” he said as Rosalie squinted her eyes.
“My parents named me, Ro-sa-lie,” she said in a bratty tone as Giovanni’s eyes darkened in anger, “I’ll call you whatever I want, now get in the car,” he gritted before storming off leaving Rosalie and Genesis behind as she turned to look at him immediately getting lost in his brown eyes, “We’re doing your old man a favor, Rosalie, cut us some slack, so can you please get in the car?” He asked as his deep-laid-back lazy tone, which she realized was his natural voice had her instantly submitting, “Fine,” she said as Genesis grinned lazily, “Good girl,” he said before walking away as Rosalie rolled her eyes and quickly followed behind.
“You know I could use some help,” she said with a hostile glare as her nostrils flared and her lips curled. Giovanni, who stood leaning up against the car, scoffed as he glanced at her, “You’re a big girl with that kind of attitude, big girls don’t need help,” he said before harshly opening the door as he got in.
“Asshole,” she muttered as Genesis chuckled before helping her with her bags as she thanked him before getting in the car, Giovanni started the engine, waiting on his brother, who got in before they soon drove off.
Queensland was indeed the wettest part of Australia, especially on the northern side, but the scenery was incredible and it made Rosalie feel giddy. Both brothers could feel Rosalie’s excitement as they grinned, “Do you like nature?” Giovanni asked as Rosalie shrugged, “You can say that, but as long as something inspires me then I’ll use it to my advantage,” she said as Genesis raised an eyebrow, “So you’re an artist, you like to paint?” He asked as Rosalie glanced at him in confusion not knowing if he was impressed or not with his naturally lazy tone that sounded so attractive.
“Yes, I paint and draw,” she said as Giovanni scoffed earning an offended look from Rosalie, “Sorry, you just didn’t strike as an artistic kind, Rose,” he said as Rosalie gritted through her teeth, “What do you know and for last time, it’s Rosalie,” she spat as Giovanni stared at her through the rearview mirror.
Intentionally, he sped up with his eyes still glued on hers through the mirror, he suddenly switched lanes as Rosalie began to panic since another car was inching towards them, frantically blowing his horn.
“What the hell is wrong with you, get out of the way?!” She screamed only urging him to go faster as Genesis rolled his eyes at his brother’s antics. Rosalie, who was on the verge of tears, squeezed her eyes shut as she gripped the car seat in front of her, “Please, I don’t want to die,” she pleaded, and with one swift pull of the wheel, Giovanni switched lanes, avoiding the car by an inch.
Turning to glance at his brother, Genesis glared at him before Giovanni glanced up to check on Rosalie, who silently cried to herself, “I’m sorry,” he said as Rosalie continued to cry, “I just want to get out,” she whispered as Genesis glanced back at her, “Don’t worry, we’re almost there,” he said as Rosalie nodded with her face looking down at her lap in embarrassment.
She hated crying in front of people and the last time she cried was when she got a phone call stating that her parents had died in a car accident and now that Giovanni had made her cry, she hated him and just wanted to get away from them. So as they continued their journey, no one spoke and honestly, Rosalie was thankful for that. No longer in the mood to look outside at the scenery, Rosalie just waited until the car stopped and soon it did.
“Well, this is it,” Genesis said as Rosalie quickly thanked them before exiting the car. Swiftly moving to the trunk of the car, Rosalie immediately took her things out before a voice caught her attention.
“Thank you, boys, I hope she wasn’t too feisty for ya,” said a raspy and slightly out-of-breath voice as Rosalie’s eyes lit up causing her to forget her things. Swiftly moving around the car, Rosalie caught the sight of a frail man in a wheelchair with short gray hair and a beard, it was her grandfather, Benjamin Gracias. Giovanni was right, her grandfather was indeed crippled, but he looked just like her father, but older, which filled her heart and caused all her earlier assumptions to immediately fade away.
“Grandpapa?” She called out as he immediately turned to her a big smile graced his wrinkled face, “Rosemary,” he said as Rosalie smiled at the nickname that her grandfather used to call her, according to her father’s words.
Running into his arms, Rosalie hugged him tight as he kissed her cheek before pulling away to admire her face, “You look just like your mother,” he said as Rosalie smiled, “Thank you, papa, I guess it’s been a while, huh?” She asked as tears welled up in his eyes, “Sure has, and now my grandbaby is all grown up into a beautiful woman, your parents did good,” he said as Rosalie giggled before squinting her eyes.
“And what about you, grandpapa, you don’t look a day over twenty-five,” she said as Benjamin waved her off before turning his wheelchair, “Honey, please, I’m the best version of myself, I’ve been doing some stand-up comedy, keeps me up at night,” he said as Rosalie laughed, “Come one, Rosemary, I’d like you to meet someone, forget the bags, Gio and Gen will get it,” he said as Rosalie immediately shook her head, “It’s okay, papa, they’ve done enough,” she said as Giovanni sighed, “Relax, Rosa-lie, we got it,” he said as Benjamin shot him a knowing look before wheeling away leaving Rosalie as she stared at them blankly, “Go, we got it,” Genesis said as Rosalie rolled her eyes before walking away to catch up with her grandfather.
Walking into the house, Rosalie was impressed and taken back by the decor of the house, “I knew you would bump heads with Giovanni,” Benjamin said as he wheeled beside her, “You have no idea, papa,” she said as her grandfather shrugged, “Actually, I do, he’s a good kid, they both are, but Gio just has a bit of a temper,” he said as Rosalie scoffed,
“But enough about them,” he said as the older woman suddenly appeared, “Rosalie, I’d like you to meet my lovely wife, Melody,” he said as the beautiful woman stepped forward to shake Rosalie’s hand.
“Hello, gosh you’re so beautiful, I could see some of your father in you, it’s nice to meet you, Rosalie,” she said as Rosalie blushed with a wide grin, “It’s nice to meet you too, Melody, and thank you, you’re stunning yourself, papa always has amazing taste in women,” she said as Melody giggled while Benjamin playfully rolled his eyes, “Anyways, Mel and I got married a few years after your grandmother had passed away, she was Laurie’s best friend and was asked to take care of me if anything had happened to her, and for that, I’ll always love your grandmother,” he said as Rosalie smiled.
“As long as you’re happy, papa,” she said while holding his hand before they were interrupted by footsteps, “Alright, Ben, that’s it we’re about to head out,” said Genesis as his brother nodded, “Alright boys, thanks a lot and check me when you can,” he said as Rosalie raised an eyebrow, “Thank you, for the ride and my stuff,” Rosalie said as they both nodded, “You’re welcome, it was nice to meet you, Rosalie, and once again, I’m sorry,” Giovanni said as Rosalie nodded before glancing at Genesis, who grinned before winking as they both turned to leave.
“We’re out of here, old man,” said Genesis as Benjamin scoffed, “Yeah, yeah, remember to be careful especially with these upcoming days, specifically you, Giovanni,” he said as Giovanni stuck an ‘ok’ sign in the air before they got in their car and left.
“What’s happening in the upcoming days?” Rosalie asked in a curious tone as her grandfather waved her off, “It’s nothing to worry about, Rosemary, they know,” he said as Rosalie grew more curious but brushed it off, “It’s been a long day, and I’m sure you would like to settle in and take nap,” he said as Melody pushed him to the escalator, “Come on, we’ll take you to your room” he said as they moved upstairs.
Upstairs was just as beautiful as the door stairs, there were a total of 4 rooms. Two bedrooms, one guest bathroom, and a storage room. The door after the bathroom was Rosalie’s room, which had originally belonged to her father. As they stopped in front of the room, Rosalie opened the door and they went in. Nothing had changed in the eyes of Benjamin, but for Rosalie, it was wholesome to be able to be in the exact room where her father had spent the majority of his life.
“This was your father’s room, feel free to re-decorate if you’d like, I always did hate his taste in decor,” Benjamin said earning a giggle from Rosalie as she continued looking around, “Mel had cleaned it for you,” he said as Rosalie smiled before turning to Melody, “Thank you,” she said as Melody smiled before back to look around the room, “Well, we’ll leave it to you,” Benjamin said as Rosalie walked up to embrace him as she whispered, “Thank you, papa,” earning a tighter hold and a warm smile, “Anything for my grandbaby, now get settled in and take a nap, you’ll need it,” he said as Rosalie nodded before he and Melody left.
Glancing around the room once again, Rosalie sighed heavily before plopping herself down on the bed. Gazing at the ceiling, she couldn’t help but think about the twin brothers, who both teased her curiosity and provoked her patience.
“Giovanni and Genesis, what is it about you that makes me anxious,” she mumbled before she slowly drifted off into a desirable slumber.
…
Four hours had passed and now it was officially dark. The pale full moon shined like a guardian angel in the mighty night sky, watching as the animals came to life, and accepted the praise from the beasts of the night.
Outside of Benjamin's house by the southern side of the house, the bushes began to move as a terrifying creature crawled out. Blending into the night as its big brown eyes glittered. The creature stood near a window as it listened attentively to the steady beating of the human’s heart as it quickly calmed it. As it continued listening, there was a sudden noise coming up behind it as the creature growled before recognizing the familiar pair of exact brown eyes.
As they both nuzzled against one another, they soon continued to enjoy and relax to the sound of Rosalie’s heartbeat until the sound of a howl caught their attention as they ran off leaving an opportunity for tomorrow.
