Chapter 38 - The First Acolyte

After harvesting the soul of the Ash Wing, Viel decided to include it in his army. But as he has the corpse, using the Animating Touch skill would be a loss as it would be temporary.

If he revive it through his Soul Order, the new summon would be permanent and have a lot more benefits.

< You have chosen to make the Abomination, Ash Wing, your Acolyte. >

< Please, bestow a name upon your first Acolyte before advancing any further. >

—--

Viel stopped for a moment and started pondering about what name he could give to his new companion.

'I already know that the name I give to them will influence its growth as it did with Jör and Indra.' Viel thought. 'If I think about an important figure related to mosquitos is Beelzebub, the Gluttony Demon portrayed as a flying insect.'

"Ok, it's decided. I will name you Bael."

—--

< You have chosen the name "Bael" as the name for your first Acolyte, the Ash Wing. >

< Is this your final answer? >

< Yes / No >

—--

"Yes." Viel replied.

—--

< Acolyte Bael has been accepted as part of the Soul Order. >

< Would you like to customize Acolyte Bael? >

< Yes / No >

—---

'Okay, let's see what I can do.' Viel checked the Bael's Page that had appeared on his Soul Book.

—-----

< Bael>

– The percentages that are shown are the compatibility rating of the transformation. If you wish to create or customize a form that is not available in the options, please supply the necessary Beast Cores or Monster Parts.

– If you choose to transform your Acolyte into a particular form with a low rating, take note that the transformation is highly likely to fail. The materials used to transform the monster will also disappear.

– If you want to increase the chances of the percentage of the profession you fancy, add more Beast Cores or Monster Parts befitting that profession to increase its percentage rating! – Take note that there is a chance that the items you sacrifice could cause a mutation and become part of whatever form your Knight is going to transform into.

– An 80% chance is guaranteed that the Acolyte's custom transformation will be successful.

"Nothing interesting so far." Viel said.

To change this, Viel decided to add the Beast Cores of the Rank 3 Ruthless Venom Mosquitos as well as its bodies and the ones from the other mosquitoes.

Now, he checked again to see what have changed.

Transformation Customization:

Ash Wing = 100%

Venom-Cursed Mosquito = 40%

Inferno Stinger = 30%

Toxic Hunter = 20%

Shadow Wing Assassin = 10%

Nightmare Swarm Queen = 5%

Deathwing Harbinger = 1%

What most caught the attention of Viel was the last option, the Deathwing Harbinger. Maybe the 1% chance of it being successful could scare someone, but thanks to Viel's luck stat it wasn't a problem.

'Copying Iris' luck was one of the best decisions I can have made.' Viel thought.

Viel took out his sword and cut the palm of his hand, making blood fall to the ground. After the first drop touched it, a red magic circle appeared beneath Viel. At this moment he decided to start the ritual, one that he will repeat a lot in the future.

"Be it known to all souls that I, Viel Von Kiazer, hereby accept Bael as one of the Acolytes of my Soul Order. Do you swear and acknowledge me to be your true and lawful Master?"

Bael's soul just nodded as it wasn't still able to talk.

"Do you also swear to devote yourself to the service of the Soul Order, surrendering your soul to my guidance and domination?" Viel asked.

Bael just nodded again.

"Make your pledge of Loyalty." Viel ordered.

The soul of Bael bowed to Viel and emitted an eerie sound.

Suddenly, a shimmering and translucent soul crystal, radiating with ethereal light and engraved with intricate symbols, materializes in front of the Viel.

Viel carefully held the crystal, representing the connection between the Acolyte and the Soul Order, as part of the ritual.

"As for my part, I do swear to guide and protect Bael, as befits a true member of my Soul Order."

Viel gently placed the soul crystal upon Bael's chest, symbolizing the fusion of their souls.

"Revive, Bael, and may your strength be my strength."

The crystal was slowly absorbed by Bael's soul as Viel continued talking.

"Embrace your destiny, for you are now a beacon of my Soul Order."

As Viel took two steps backward, Bael's soul exploded and a whirlpool of energy formed.

—--

< Attempting transformation… >

—--

After a few minutes, the whirlpool collapsed and was absorbed by something inside it. But just as Viel was going to see what have happened a really loud buzzing sound echoed inside the cavern.

—---

< Congratulations! The transformation was successful! >

—---

When the dust settled down, he could see a knight in front of him. Viel tried to get near it, but it suddenly kneeled and started speaking.

"I greet my lord!" Bael said as it took out its helmet.

Bael was like a humanoid knight, clad in dark, scaled armor reminiscent of an insect's exoskeleton. It stands at an imposing height of approximately 3 meters, its form imposing and fearsome. Its body is covered in black chitinous plates, adorned with menacing spikes and razor-sharp protrusions.

A pair of large, tattered wings extend from its back, evoking a sense of imminent doom. Glowing red eyes pierce through the darkness, radiating an aura of malevolence. Although its body was humanoid, its face was still the same as before, the face of a mosquito.

Viel didn't want to lose more time, so he started checking his new Acolyte stats in his Soul Book.
