Chase finally breathed a sigh of relief after a long hour of running. His breaths were irregular due to the stress. Leaning against the cave wall, he slid down to sit, gazing at the upper part of the cave. White and green glowing insects flitted around, casting an eerie illumination within. Chase had his own source of light, but he preferred not to use it here since visibility wasn't an issue.
"Ugh."
A soft grunt of pain broke the silence, and Chase turned his head toward Cloris, who was waking up from her deep slumber. She held her head and sat up, her mind quickly filling with the memories of the evening's events.
"Shit! I'm the reason Chase is in danger... Wait, why does my body still feel the same?" Cloris examined herself thoroughly, unaware of Chase's presence. "Whether he touched me or not is not important right now. I need to see if Chase is al—Ahhh!"
