Massy walked into her almost bent crooked house tiredly, the bar was the upteeneth job she did for the day and she felt like she would faint anytime soon.
One would think she was half dead, or a zombie with the way she walked and even looked like.
She generally thought that children in her environment were running away from her and she was becoming a terror already.
Opening her door, she walks straight to her small fridge to get some to drink: maybe some chill.
The fridge was half gone, she knew she would have to buy another one very soon since this one was beyond repairs.
But how would she buy another one when she barely had any money with her to take good care of herself.
Life was hard, and maybe if she was born in this kind of poverty then it would not be so worse and unbearable for her.
She sighed as she drank from the bottle thirstyly, taking it all in like this was her last chance to live.
Not only was she thankful, she was shocked that the fridge was still able to make the water a little cold.
This was because it seems like her fridge is the best in turning off and coming back on like it pleased.
As she was about to rest on the very hard chair close to her, her mind suddenly drifted to what happened at the bar.
At first, she never had expected to see one of the students she bullied in high school.
She had bullied a couple that she might not even be able to remember their faces but certainly not this one.
This one was special, specially bullied and maltreated by her, she knew that in another life he would not move closer to her if he saw her.
His name is Malik Hampton and that was the least of them she expected to see at her work place.
She could remember the hatred lingering in his face when he called her name which sent shivers down her spine.
Fear gripped her as she knew why he looked at her that way and what the look on his face meant.
She sighed, dropping the bottle of water on the fridge and decided that it was best for her not to think about him.
Massy faked a smile before going to check the kitchen for what to eat for dinner.
"I need to get some groceries", she thought as she poured the remaining cereals she found in her food items shelf.
That was all she had for now, and she obviously did not know when and how she would be able to get another one.
After taking the cereal for dinner, she had a brief shower in her small bathroom.
The house had come without one so she created the bathroom when she rented the house.
While she was house hunting, this house she is staying in was the cheapest she found around the area.
She couldn't say she loved it but she had no choice because that was what she afford.
Apart from being the cheapest house in the area, it keep her away from her family.
And being away from her so called loved ones was something she greatly appreciated and would not trade for anything else.
Her mind flew back to the time she was house hunting and how worse it was with job hunting during her shower.
She was done with the shower in a fewer minutes than usual and had to move on to another thing to do.
Massy sighed again like she was an old woman suffering from the pains of old age as she stepped out and dried her body.
She began to him a sung to distract her a little from all that she has been thinking about before that time.
At the same time, she continued her personal stuff by dressing in her already faded pajamas.
This pajamas was only one out of the very many things that spelt out her wretchedness.
She put it on smartly anyways and slumped on the tiny bed in her room to relax and reflect on her life.
With her face up to the sky that her lifeless roof blocked, she thought deeply about her life.
She was once a daughter of a billionaire; a famous one, one of the most richest in Australia to be more precise.
She was Massy Felisha Tedd the daughter of Damon Salvatore Tedd.
If one had told her all of these would happened to her, she would denied it because of how rich her father was.
"Every happened cause of snitchy witch", she cursed as she hissed and adjusted her body position on the bed.
Her mind then swiftly drifted back to Malik Hampton, he had turned into a more handsome guy.
Maybe she said that because he was no longer the four eyed kid she knew anymore.
Every thing about him screamed money and more money, he was wealthy, and even his skin looked rich with the diamonds of this world.
She remembered when they were still in Hugh school, where they graduated from years ago.
At that time he was always her target, and at first she only bullied him as she did to others.
But when she discovered he had a crush on her, everything changed and he became an item of bully.
He was bullied, morning, afternoon and night by her, she was even sure that he saw her in his dreams.
She heaved deeply as she thought of her high school friends whom she thought will help her.
After she got into this mess she was in now, she ran to those who were her friends from their high school for help.
But to her utmost surprise, she instead got disappointed and they chased her far away from then including her ex-boyfriend.
Her phone suddenly rang so loudly, disrupting her thoughts, she picked it up without even looking at her phone's screen.
"Hello." she said and as she placed the phone on her ear, she could hear the sharp breath of the person talking in the background.
"Massy Felisha Tedd." A somehow familiar voice called darkly from the background which made she froze.
She closed her eyes and opened it as she blinked numerously with a trembling voice before she said "who is this?"
The person chuckles darkly and as if he expected her reaction said "your worst nightmare."
Just as she was about to check the screen to see who called, she heard a click and with that the phone went off.
She released the breath she did not even know she was holding, as her heart beat heavily against her chest.
It was as if it wanted to pop out of her chest and she squeezed it while her mouth trembled in fear.
Maybe to others, it was no big deal but to her, it was and she was soaked in her sweat despite the cool weather.
Her phone rang again, this time she stared at the screen to see who it was, hopefully and afriad at the same time.
She had hoped that the person who threatened her called her back to say it was all a joke and to keep her at ease.
But she was afraid that he because she knew the voice was masculine would call back to threaten her the more.
"Dad", she saw in the screen of her phone and then lifted her other hand up wearily as she swiped to the receive icon.
Massy did all of these amongst her trying as hard as she could to keep her breath steady and moving like nothing was wrong.
"Hey pops." She said when she picked the call finally, trying to talk in her normal voice.
"Are you okay?" Her father inquired noticing her wobbling voice, she was still shaking obviously
"Yeah, I am fine, what?" She replied in a way to defend herself since she did not want him to notice anything.
At some point, she was sure that he would not buy into the idea but she did not still want to be like a weak girl to him.
Since she left home and was on her own, she should be able to take care of herself and little issues like that.
If this issue was as little as she had just thought about then she would be happy and relieved but she feared that it wasn't.
He wasn't saying anything so it meant he was thinking about what could be going on wrong as well and there was silence.
"Dad, Why did you call?" She said dad because she wanted him to come back and out of whatever it was he was thinking.
She asked her father that question because she hasn't heard from him in a long time and she did not even care.
Massy was unfortunately not sure if he did as well, because she expected him to have called at one time or the other.
Maybe she cared about him, after all he was her father and she was supposed to do that.
Also, her father went bankrupt, he had a heart problem and it was his wife, which is her stepmother that was taking care of him.
How everything changed drastically was an epic story that should be titled" from billionaire to nothingnaire."
She had heard of stories of men who had money and were very wealthy at the early stages of their lives but could not contain the wealth.
Even her father told her numerous stories that she could learn from, so she never expected it to happen to them as well.
If anyone had told her this would happened: she would argue with such person and even bully them like she used to do.
At that time and even till now, it was like a dream that was lasting till a very long time.
All she needed to do was wake up but unfortunately it was reality and not a dream at all.
Her mom died ten years ago, those days, months and years were her worst days.
The days, months and years of saddness because her mother died just after her birthday.
A few years after her mother's death, her father brought in another woman as her mother.
It was at that point that things started falling apart, nothing could hold the center of their family anymore.
She was living in the poorest house because of her. She was living this wretched house, all because of her stepmother.
"Are you there?" Her father asked her when he did not hear anything from her for a few seconds.
"Yeah, I could hear you very clearly, dad." She mumbled under breath.
"Are you...."
"No, I'm not, I just feel ........, It shouldn't have been this way to us all."
Life had hit them hard multiple times and did not even give them the change to get up to defend themselves.
Not even for once had they gotten a chance to relax from all these issues, it just kept coming to them, day in, and day out.
She spoke again in a terribly wobbling voice.
Her father sighed at the end of the phone, he could feel the frustrated in her voice as well.
Massy was sure he would also be careful enough to listen to the discouragement in her voice, he could feel her giving up.
"Every will be back to normal, don't give up now, Massy." He said softly.
When she did not reply or even breathe into the phone he continued, "Not now and not ever because soon our sun will rise back to it normal post."
"Hmmm, really?" She said in total unbelief, she was tried of hearing him say these same words over and over again.
"Yes and by then our eagle will soar higher than all of its limitations, you'll see" He encouraged.
"I will be looking up to that day" she mumbled finally trying to envision his words in her head.
It worked more than she believed it would as she felt a little bit of relive by his words. She yawned sleepily.
"Good night dad, thanks for today. It's good to hear you call me once every decade."
"You know that's not what I do, right, dear?"
"Yes, sure. Thank you."
"Sweet dreams, Princess."
"Same" she said flatly like she was more tired from making the call and keeping it prolonged.
"Don't miss your drugs and stay healthy for me."
"I will do my best." With that she hanged up and placed her phone on the small night stand beside her small bed before drifting off in her sleep.
