Massy groaned as the alarm clock rang, she had turned it off more than five times that morning already.
It never misbehaves like this and doing all of these was making her feel more perplexed so early that morning.
The morning sickness of getting angry she had was enough with the frustration that the little alarm clock was giving her.
It made that terrible sound for the upteeneth time and angrily, she threw it at the corner of the room.
She was very furious as she turned heavily to the other side of the bed and slept off peacefully for the first time that morning.
But it was not up to a minute when the alarm rang again and this time very louder.
She was now more annoyed by it because it made sure she was fully awake now as she sat up, stretched and yawned lazily on the bed.
Maybe she would have continued yawning and even lie down lazily on the bed if something had not occurred to her that very minute.
Her eyes suddenly met with the cracked old wall clock on the wall and she gasped in horror like she had seen a ghost.
"Holly Molly." She screamed and sprang to the small bathroom she created and hastily did her thing there.
As usual, she made sure to do her daily routine which included brushing and bathing.
Stepping out of the bathroom, she dried her body in a haste and got dressed even without rubbing body cream.
She without brushing her messy hair ran out of her house looking like a weirdo, a chronic one.
Getting to her first work for the day, she jumped out of the taxi she boarded without paying the driver.
He on the other hand thought she was a theif and was determined not to let her go away with his money.
Immediately, he winded down the glass and leaned to yell angrily after her "My money miss!"
She turned to him and gave him the money in her hand muttering a sorry.
It was embarrassing but she knew it was her fault so that made her feel a little better, she knew she could still face worse that morning
Although it was still a probability, but anything could happen to her that could make her weep sourly that morning.
She was happy that the cab driver only eyed her irritated by her sorry before putting his head back into the car.
Stepping into the eatery where she worked part-time in the morning, she met her boss waiting outside for her.
Massy felt that she was out of sight and thought for a minute before deciding what best she could do for herself.
With a nervous smile to onlookers, she walked in sneakily trying to avoid her boss.
She knew she was only trying her luck and unfortunately, she was unlucky because she was caught red-handed.
"Don't stress yourself with sneaking in, I already saw you, Massy" Her boss voiced coldly.
She turned to see her glaring at her coldly "What says the time Miss Tedd?" Her boss inquired about facing void emotions.
"Nine thirty." She replied with a nervous smile.
"When does this eatery open?"
"Seven AM."
"When were you told to resume work at this eatery?"
"Seven in the morning, ma."
"You know I like punctuality and I told you what I wanted from you."
"I'm sorry, ma, I woke up..."
"You always have excuses to make which I'm sick of"
"This would be the last one, ma'am." Massy was already shaking with fear from what her boss could do next.
"Yeah, that was what you said the last time."
"This is the last time, ma. Please pardon me."
"You have been doing this over and over again and I believe that enough is enough."
"Ma?"
"You heard me right, get out of my eatry, and I don't want to see you anymore."
"Ma?" Massy said, astonished, she could not believe what she was hearing.
"Yes! I don't want to see you ever again, Massy Tedd."
"What do you mean?"
"I mean you are fired." She hissed, getting irritated with the way Massy was dragging the issue in her favour.
Immediately, she knelt down and started begging her boss, by that time, those passing by the show noticed something was happening there.
"Mrs Johnson, I'm sorry, it wont…"
"That's what you always say and you kept repeating the same mistake continuously." She cut her off.
"I'm sorry I did this, I really...."
"Get out, Massy, do not let me get pushed to the point of calling the security on you."
"I really have nowhere else to go." Tears were already welling up in her eyes about to overflow.
"Respect yourself and get out without getting embarrassed, spare yourself every stress." The woman said unregrettably.
"Mrs..."
"Security take her..."
"I will get out myself." She said and she stepped out of the eatry gloomily.
That was how she lost the highest paying job amidst her fifteen jobs for the day.
"There is still hope." She encouraged herself thinking about the fourteen jobs she had left.
Unfortunately enough for her, on getting to the other fourteen jobs, she was fired like the first one.
At first, she thought she was dreaming or hallucinating, because how could she have lost fifteen jobs in a day.
These were jobs that she had toiled night and day to get, she had done all she could to earn their trust for the hours she worked daily.
Even though they were not well paid jobs, she was still appreciated and gifted when due.
She bursted into a ridiculous laughter which attracted people's attention around the last place she worked.
Those who heard her and noticed looking at her horribly and she was less concerned that she was getting weird looks from them.
Tears started rolling down her cheeks in between the laughter, she laughed till her cheeks hurt.
When she had satisfied her emotions, she decided to pick up the tiny bag she dropped to the ground so she could go home.
As she was going home, she reminisced on her life again, just like she always does, just that this time it was deep.
Doing this was what she did to keep herself sane and it sometimes still made her insane.
She thought about how she had dreamt about how her life would be versus how her life currently was and she wept bitterly.
Life has been unfair for her, maybe it is the punishment for her being a bad bitch in her high school days.
Then, she was the school queen, and single handedly she bullied both the rich and the poor.
Surely, the weaker vessels in school and even her teachers were not left out at that time in her life.
She did all of these and went away because her father was one of the richest men in the country.
Never had she thought that they would be as poor as a Church rat and now a Church rat was richer than they were.
She got home sulking about her lost jobs, it was still unbelievable to her and she wished she could wake up from the nightmare.
Things were just happening too fast in her life recently.
Firstly, she had seen Martin, and had gotten a call from someone threatening her and saying he was her worst nightmare.
And now, all in just less than 24 hours, she had lost all her jobs, what other nemesis could be this heartbreaking to her?
The craziest part was that she still saw vacancies on the billboard on her way to her home.
And when she tried to apply, she was rejected for a reason best known to them, it was no reason to her at all.
At the last place, they would not even tell her why she did not qualify at all, they were just in a hurry to see her back.
She sighed at the signal her brain gave her, and was a little thankful that she had finally gotten home before this started with her.
Now, the second signal she got was when her stomach rumbled, crying loudly to be fed.
It happened the second time so she walked towards her food items shelf and still found nothing to eat.
"Hmm, guess I would have to fast today." she mumbled and walked to her bed to resume her sulking.
After hours of sulking, she stood up and changed her dress to something simple, a little green top and a denim faded jean.
She thought for a while and decided to go to the newly opened bar down the town to drink away her sorrow.
Massy had not had a taste of liquor for a while now and she thought it was best she spent her last penny on getting better.
Getting to the bar, she walked straight to the bar house and sat on one of the chairs in front of it.
"Can I get a strong alcoholic drink?" She said to the bar attendant who nodded and turned to the bar shelf.
"Here is your order" the bar attendant said, placing the black drink filled in a small glass cup in front of her.
She sniffed it and smiled before gulping it down, it was like she knew it before and it reminded her of something in the past.
"More please." she said, dropping the glass cup in front of the attendant who refilled it.
Gulping her second cup, she dropped the glassy cup only to see a familiar figure in front of her.
Massy was not sure if she was getting drunk again as she looked at the smirk displayed on his face.
"We met again," he said, chuckling darkly.
She rolled her eyes and cursed under her breath as she gazed at him wondering what she could do to get away from his grip.
"Are you here to mock me? If yes, you are highly welcomed, I am doing the same by the way and it is fun to do." She said with her eyes rolled.
"More" she turned to the bar attendant and barked at him. As she said it, it was refilled.
She was about to drink her third cup when he collected it from her and gulped it down.
Massy was shocked at his action and was too stunned to speak so she looked into the air.
"This drink is too strong for a lady" he said while she glared at him angrily now, upset that she spoiled her show.
"Do you think this would make you forget how miserable your life is?" He said with his gaze pinned on her.
"Look here, great Massy, your life is still miserable.
As Malik looked at her, he thought about how she is still the same as she was when they are in high school.
He had expected many changes but they were barely any, her rich skin: tanned, soft and smooth was still evident.
Her eyes, body, shape were still intact except her boobs that look bigger and her ways of dressing.
"Stop trying to be nice," she said.
He smirked at her and replied "I'm not and you should know this by now."
"What do you want from me?" Massy did not know where she got the courage from but it would be the drink she drank.
Her normal self would be crawling away on the floor and trying to run away from her past failures
"What do you want?" He asked out of the blues as if giving her a cheque to anything in the world that she needed.
"Nothing, leave me alone" she said flatly, blocking the thoughts of all she needed from her mind.
"I know you are in need of a job." He said.
Her eyes widened at the statement and the way he said it with confidence so she asked "how do you know about this?"
He laughed at the way she looked and winked at her.
She thought he was guessing and then added "there is absolutely no way you…"
"I have eyes everywhere," he said, disrupting her which made her confused.
"Whatever! I do not care, all that you are saying is pure scam please."
"Really? Who is a scammer here?"
"Just go and let me drink in peace." She said ordering more bottles of strong alcoholic drinks.
She did this obviously to impress him and make him feel like she was okay and comfortable with the life she was living even though she knew she wasn't.
"Will you be able to pay for these? you know you just lost your job, I mean jobs." He said jestly.
She was shocked when he said that again but she did her best in covering up so she said "that is none of your business" she growled at him.
He ignored her childish act and stood up with a shrug before he dropped a black small card on her lap.
Malik threw it on her angrily and she raised her brow questioning his immature act.
"You will need my help."
"I wouldn't" she was still trying to be as strong as possible and not be vulnerable in his sight"
"Of course you will, you have no job and I know you can't stay idle because you need to survive." He said mockly.
All these words he was saying were bruising her ego and he knew that so he did it more intensely.
Massy was not one to easily surrender so she glared at him with her gritted teeth.
"I don't need your fucking help" she growled squeezing the card while he shrugged and turned to leave.
But as he was about to go out, he turned again and left the bar after blowing her kisses.
"Asshole" she cursed as she watched him leave the bar.
She took one last glance at the squeezed card before dropping it on the ground.
