Emiris watched as his little boy gazed at himself in the mirror.
He still couldn't believe it, the small baby that barely weighted 4 kilo, was no taller then 49 cm had grown so much.
His own life had changed so much since the relevation that his wife was pregannt. It was impossible, had been impossible yet there was the tiny, living proof, so fragile.
Months had passed by slowly and then on january the first his wife went into labour, they had been together for centuries but that was the first time he had ever felt so much fear.
Even facing demons had felt way less taxing, the destruction of their home planet was something that would have happenend anyways so they relished into each other's present and grew from the horrors of the past.
Their planet lived on in their memories and heart.
His own heart was soft, Dakaria was the bold one, the strong one. Everything would go right if she was by his side. He loved her more then he would ever love himself and he loved their little bundle of joy more then life itself.
His whole existence an abnormality and so was all the signs of the pregnancy, after finally having told her of his worries, he had convinced her to visit a doctor. And not just any but doctor Cole, one of the best in the world and with very close connections to the royal family, not that he had known at that time.
It was only when the doctor returned, having vanished after running some test, that the imposing figure of the king appeared behind him. The first thing that had drawn his attention was the liquid like crown upon his head.
Some parts weren't even connected yet it looked so mystical, so perfect. Colour a fiery red, suiting perfectly with his hair.
Hair that looked so smooth, full and reached below his knees, neatly tucked together.
Thinking back Emiris cringed upon himself as he remembered his overprotective moment he had of his wife, his fangs had shown in a threathening manner. It was just a moment however because not even a second later a weight so heavy brought him face first to the floor.
An annoyed voice had sounded "Young vampires, always so energetic." He still felt offended, he was already 2100 years old at that point. But the king had merely laughed and even now he was still treated like a child and he wasn't even the youngest in the castle.
Either way he owned a lot to the royal family, his family lived safely within the well quarded walls of the castle, had the best off food, clothes and all else they ever needed and would need. In a quest to repay the King he had taken up beings his left hand and his wife did the same by the Queen.
"My love, you are dreaming away while your son is calling out for you."
"Seems he got it from me then." Stifling a smile, he ruffled the soft silver hair of the boy that was his(his!).
"Daddy, what where you thinking about?"
Dropping down Emiris placed his hands gently on his son's shoulders, sparkling eyes full of love, same love evident in his voice as he spoke.
"One of the best days of my life."
"When was that, daddy?"
"The day you came into my life., you where and still are such a small wonder"
"I'm already five daddy, what about you mommy?"
"The very first moment I could hold you after a long sleep, a birth is not easy but I would do it ten times over just for you."
Kneeling down she wrapped her arms around her husband and son and for a few seconds all there was was the little family, until Adrian began struggling to escape. With a swift move he slipped underneath them and hurriedly let them know he was going to find Aethelstan before leaving entirely.
With a huff Dakaria looked at Emiris. "He got that from you.'' Not even denying the claim Emiris changed the conservation from loveable to serious.
"His gone to find Aethelstan again."
"I know, it's worrisome but they seem to be growing closer every day."
"I don't know if that's a good thing, like schould we keep them apart?
You know I want what's best for my son but it's just so new.
Silently pulling up Emiris, Dakaria led him towards the soft sofa in their room.
"Your overthinking it, the situation on it's own is already a mess but Aethelstan cares for Adrian. Remember the time where they fell asleep together on the big bed. They looked so adorable."
"You took like a thousand pictures, Adrian was just six months old. His hand wrapped so thightly in Aethelstan's hair and with his stature of 1.85 it made for quite an adorable scene."
"It did, didn't it.-'' as mall laugh left her-'' his hair very much looked like a halo, it looked so peacefull."
"Dakaria, I...hope that things will be this peacefull in the future too."
Atmosphere had turned even more somber be the sudden confession of Emiris, hands thightly gripped together as eyes looked wishfull in front of him. Unsure of what to say the silence continuedd for a bit before, ultimately Dakaria just changed the conversation back. The chance their life would never be disturbed was unrealistic but she didn't want the destroy her husband's hopes.
"I was uhm doing a little bit of searching in the forbidden library.
Have you heard of an unbreakable bond, they call it a mystic bond apparently."
"Mysti..? Like from the ancients legends? That's impossible."
"You said it yourself, they have had a connection since the day Adrian was born. And remember when he healed me, that golden surge?"
"Yes, I remember. I could never forget. You where in a coma for a month, a month as a vampire."
"I know that was a difficult period for you, my love but everything turned out fine. About the surge..?"
"He was doing better that day, since he was ill just after birth. So fragile, still so fragile but he had looked at me so intelligently so I talked, I spoke about you. And after days of raw cries full of pain it was the only relief I got.
I don't think I have ever felt so usseless, there was nothing I could do for you and our own little wonder did nothing but sleep, cry in pain and eat. The pressure to be there for him while their was a chance you would never wake up.
I had to give him twice the love but I didn't even know how to do that.
I tried my best but still felt so utterly uselesss."
Dakaria didn't disturb his talk, feeling like he needed to let go of some of his tightly grasped worries.
She would be for him what she alwasy was, his rock.
"But that day he was so quiet, so relaxed. It felt like he was hearing me so I talked and talked.
Told him of his worries for you. I still don't know he did it but a wall of magic had left his tiny, tiny body.
After that he started screaming and crying again, I panicked, I rushed to the doctors.
He fainted and I stood there useless in the corner as they worked their magic.
His core was empty, a month old baby used magic..for you. For his mother because I needed you, he listened.
At first I thought you where a shape shifter, my fangs already bared and my fated knifes had appeared glistening in my hands, ready to protect my wonder.
But as I heard your voice for the fist time in a month, it was clear you weren't one.
Even the doctors had already positioned them in a way to protect Adrian.
Cole was already looking for a way out, while informing the royal family. Aiwen held our baby and kept him safe while checkinh his well being, together with Aethelstan.
Angesi stood in front of them, ready for a fight while also supplying everyone with power.
"You hugged me so thightly afterwards.-" "It was such a relief to finally have you back again." "I know, all thanks to our little boy. I still feel his magic surroundingme, healing me. It felt so safe, loving and familair."
With a chuckle Emiris continued "You rushed over so quickly that Aiwen flinched and almost dropped him."
"I grabbed him in time and at that time I was still allowed to hug him for longer then a second."
With a smile Emiris agreed. "It's still weird that even with an empty core and mana overload that only Aethelstan managed to help, even Angesi couldn't and she can give her energy to others"
"He was too young and small to modify his natural resources like that, my love"
"What a relief that elf's have a natural proposition to nature and healing magic, because of our boy's usage of healing Aethelstan reverted it a little It was dangerous to do more as letting an adult's magic take over a newborn ,who hadn"t reached maturity in any way, could prove to be fatal. So we owe him quite a lot.''
"Yes, we do. I wonder if that moment heightenend their bond seeing as their magic connected so closely together. However you said that magic wall spread everywhere right?"
Humming Emiris recalled the moment. "It didn't stop when it met you, I saw it go on till the outer walls of the courtyard."
"When I was being healed I heard Aethelstan running towards your direction, averythin sudden normal until he suddenly stopped in his tracks and started gasping. Almost kneeling down on floor, a few seconds later it was over and he left running."
"That most have been the moment he met the magic wall. The moment he was healing Adrian after his use of magic, both their eyes shone golden. I thought I was mistaken, that I was seeing things through the haze but it could be true."
"That was such a exhausting and weird day. We even had Angesi trying to ask out Aethelstan."
"He didn"t appreciate that, considering our mixed feelings about this, his must be even more."
"True, do you feel his avoiding Adrian? I feel he doesn't come around as often as when he was a baby."
"Maybe but he also has a lot on his plate. Let's go and research some more.
Getting up Emiris graciously extended his hand and with a charming smile said ''My lady.''
"You're ridiculous." Nonetheless she placed her hand on his and left together with a bunch of laughs.
