Aethelstan had hurried over, after hearing the screams of terror.
It hadn't been the first time he had heard the boy scream, so the scene was becoming already so familair to him.
He could hear the beating of a frantic hart even before he entered, the golden hair was drenched in sweat and bloody tears had dried upon his face. He was pale, paler then a vampire should be.
Silently a green filled bottle appeared into his hand and he waited.
He waited until he saw unfocused eyes turn focused and gently spoke up to make the other aware of his presence.
"You where screaming again."
Dawn's bagged, tired eyes turned towards him and he couldn't help but sigh as he placed to bottle silently next to the candle. It calmed him, he knew and that's why he placed it right next to it.
"Take your time, drink it and if you need anything else you can always come knock at my door.
Aethelstan closed the door and left.
The bottle he had given was filled with magical liquid, liquid filled with medicinal properties.
It had been five years and while it helped, the nightmares didn't seem to lessen.
It must be though on him because even he, a full blooded elf, had needed a second to take in everything.
From the moment he had became aware of the newborn vampire he knew his life would drasticly change. No sooner had he been summoned by the Queen of Aesteamore kingdom.
Together with other famous doctors around the world. Or in Angesi's case something relevant like providing magic and such.
....
While he had told his parents he would go find Aethelstan, he actually had prepared to leave the castle all together
He had pestered Aethelstan endlessly to teach him some magic and in the end he did.
It took months but just a few weeks ago he finally finished his **_all seeing eyes_**.
While it was just in the beginning stages it was already very efficient.
Mana transferred to his eyes and within seconds he could see the core of every passing maid or servant.
Some glowed brighly, other more dim and some more dangerously.
More specifically the glowing green ember hidden behind the corner. She wasn't aware he knew of her but he was.
He had dubbed her the maid of facades, just like him she smiled so brightly to passing quards, maids and servants alike.
Yet the clear green spark in her eyes only glowed brighter. It had been a difficult process, the first time he used the power his eyes had strained for weeks to come He hadn't controlled the imput of mana into his eyes properly causing his eyes to start bleeding. Even the second time was as much as a disaster as the first. Luckily for him Aethelstan had been close and had quickly traced him down with the help of the bond.
Shuddering at the memory he swiftly vanished from view.
From the middle of a hallway to one of the least visited corriders right next to a widow.
Sure to the eyes of the maids and such it had probably looked like he had vanished but he knew better, while his speed was fast hers was faster.
Her slimy, green eyes stared down at him, frozen in fear his shoulder slumped. A resigned expression on his face only to be surprised when she had walked away.
Clearly telling him without a word that she didn't see anything.
A smirk immediately blossomed into his face before immediately jumping down, fresh air hitting him in his face and with a childish giggle he hit the ground..
The maid of facades was a facade no one seemed to notice, she was either hiding behind groups of maids, servants or quards.
However same couldn't be said for the greed in her eyes. Every time he passed by or his name fell she got intriqued.
It had become a game to see how far she would go to gain information.
Either way for the first time in ages he enjoyed the silence, in those five years he hadn't been able to go anywhere without needing weeks of preparation.
Whenever he wanted to go outside it would be with quards, his parents and even a member of the royalties.
It was a parade, the people watched him like that. Like he was the devil, it got whispered down the streets.
Others worshipped him, the very ground he walked on. They looked at him like he was the cure, some others like a very interesting project.
It didn't matter.
As long as they prove themselves to be usefull in the future then he could see past there flaws.
....
Aethelstan had contemplated what kind of potion he would make for Dawn before deciding on all of them.
So while he was studying a mineral from the kingdom, his magic was present all over. Ingredients got trown into bowls and bowls by invincible hands, others crushed into fine strands by seemingly nothing.
It was alot at once but he never did anything else. His magic strained yet it had been days since he had slept and even longer since he had eaten.
It would be fin...nevermind. Gritting his teeth he heard the sample crash into the floor along with all the other floating equipement.
Faintly he could feel himself shaking, hands clenched on the desk yet all he saw was different colours.
"Wha...at's happening?!!"
Reaching out he went to the direction of his door but before he could he was once more hit with a colour rush and promtly he met the floor. His eyes fluttered close as he remembered that no one would come, his wards where too strong for that.
....
"..GHH"
He had gotten careless, just seconds after returning to the castle and finding his empty bedroom he had asked his system to pull out his information.
What was weird was the new clause in his information.
{....
Bond:???? (click to access) }
Ofcourse he had clicked it...and just as fastly he had regretted it as a rush of colours came over him.
He couldn't regret it for long before his vision turned black and his body hit the soft mattress.
....
Fields and fields of grass that was all he saw, while he layed down peacefully,Aethelstan could feel countless eyes around. Something was aorund him, watched him and observed him.
While it made his hair stand up he didn't get the immediate feeling of danger. Instead he breathed in and let his magic spread out. For miles there was only fields and hills, not a tree a sight.
Wondering if he got abducted he quickly got rid of that thought. While he had countless enemies they wouldn't dare do anything in the vampire kingdom. Complete with that was the fact everything was locked to the bone.
Just like how silent his enemies where being so was his surroundings, he didn't know what to do this, place..felt so familair and also oddly safe.
It felt like he had know this place and was connected to it for years.
Frowning, he felt his magic hit a border. A little over 40 km in front of him something surrounded his magicand didn't let it through.
Even forcefully trying to break it did nothing but ultimately he did find a weak spot. His magic rushed there in all it's silver glory and attacked. Instead of the impending explosion, taht usally happenend when two forces met, it felt like something grabbed his magic.
His magic got pulled closer and closer, he couldn't even recall it.
Instead Aethelstan's eyes widenend as he felt himself get pulled from his position. Trying to stay standing was a useless endeaver as he got pulled even closer to the spot he had thought of as a weakness.
Clearly it wasn't as even his sword, wich he had pushed into the ground and had grown bigger and bigger, was only able too stop for seconds before dissapiting into nothingness.
His relief quickly turned into surprise, this place...could disable his magic like it was nothing.
Only a few known places could do that, not counting the hidden ones.
Summoning his magic wouldn't work again so he nicked his arm and droplets of blood dripped down the grass field as he kept getting pullen forward.
A single drop caused thousands of flowers and trees to sprout. Rows and rows of trees grew between him and the wall. They weren't just trees, they could hinder any kind of magic that targetted him, he could command them but they where also capable of thinking for themselves.
In though situations they will act on their own intuition and would help him without even needing any instructions. They would do everything to help him and that fact had saved his life more then once.
Even now dozens of veins thightly wrapped around him and to further prevent him from getting whisked away they formed a large net in front of him. Even if the pulling continued he would be stopped by the net.
The power of the veins was amplified with magic, so it came to an even greater shock t him when a powerful gust of wind cut down the veins, trees and even the ground they sprouted from.
The only thing that was left was a broken mess. Instead of being pulled he litterally got trown into the spot.
