Chapter 9 - CHAPTER 8 : The Recruitment

Akito breathed heavily, sweat running down his face as he stood there in the middle of the office. Sang-Hyun, still on the floor, groaned as he slowly got up, stretching his body after the exhilarating fight. Akito lowered his guard and looked at Sang-Hyun, waiting for his response about the job.

With a smirk on his face, Sang-Hyun looked up at Akito, his eyes glinting with amusement. "Well, well, well, you're quite a fighter," he said, his voice filled with admiration. Akito felt a flicker of hope ignite in his chest, and he waited with bated breath for Sang-Hyun's next words.

"And it seems like you're quite destructive," Sang-Hyun continued, looking down at the books scattered all over the floor. Akito winced, feeling a pang of guilt shoot through him.

Sang-Hyun's expression turned serious as he looked back up at Akito. "But that doesn't mean you're not useful. You're hired," he declared. Akito felt his heart leap with joy, but the smile on Sang-Hyun's face quickly faded.

"As a janitor," Sang-Hyun finished, glaring at Akito. Akito's expression fell, feeling a sense of disappointment wash over him. He had hoped for something more, but he knew he couldn't be picky, especially with his skills.

Akito nodded his head, trying to hide his disappointment. "Thank you," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. Sang-Hyun nodded in response and gestured toward the books scattered all over the floor. "Now get to work," he said, his tone leaving no room for argument.

Akito took a deep breath and began to clean up the mess, determined to prove himself to Sang-Hyun and work his way up the ranks. He knew it wouldn't be easy, but he was ready to work hard and fight his way to the top.

Sang-Hyun let out a soft chuckle as he picked up the books that had fallen and placed them back onto the bookshelves. Akito stood there, staring at him with a mixture of confusion and intrigue.

"Don't worry though, we will have fights on the weekend at the office," Sang-Hyun repeated, looking up at Akito with a small smile. "Maybe you'll either get a promotion or a paycheck if you win."

Akito's eyebrows shot up in surprise at the mention of weekend fights. He had never heard of such a thing before in any workplace.

His mind raced as he tried to process what was happening. "Weekend fights?" he repeated, his voice laced with disbelief.

Sang-Hyun nodded, a glint of excitement in his eyes. "Yes, it's one of our office's traditions. We have fights every weekend and the winner gets a prize. It could be a promotion or a bonus on their paycheck."

Akito couldn't believe what he was hearing. He had never worked in an office like this before, where employees were encouraged to fight for promotions and bonuses.

But the idea of such a challenge filled him with a sense of adrenaline and excitement. The thought of fighting for a promotion or a paycheck was enough to motivate him.

"I see," Akito said, his eyes fixed on Sang-Hyun. "That sounds very interesting. I look forward to participating."

Sang-Hyun grinned at him. "Good to hear. I'll make sure to include you in the next fight. It'll be a good chance for you to prove yourself."

Akito nodded, a determined look on his face. He was ready to show the office what he was capable of.

Sang-Hyun straightened his back, his hands on his hips, and assessed Akito. He could sense the man's determination, but he knew better than to be too impressed. "You fought well, but don't be so confident in your skills," Sang-Hyun said with a grin, making his way over to a nearby bookshelf.

Akito watched as Sang-Hyun started to rearrange the books, and his mind raced with the possibilities of his new job. He tried not to get too excited, but he couldn't help the thrill that ran through him.

Finally, Sang-Hyun turned back to face him, and Akito could see a glint of approval in his eyes. "There is always a bigger fish," Sang-Hyun said, and Akito couldn't help but feel a twinge of uncertainty. Was there someone else in the company who was better than him?

But then Sang-Hyun's expression softened, and he extended his hand. "Congratulations, start working tomorrow," he said, and Akito's heart swelled with pride and relief.

Akito took Sang-Hyun's hand, shaking it firmly. "Thank you so much, sir. I won't let you down," he said, his voice brimming with sincerity.

Sang-Hyun gave him a small nod, and Akito couldn't help but feel like he had passed some sort of test. As he left the office and stepped back out into the bustling city, he couldn't help but feel excited for the new journey that lay ahead.

As soon as Akito received the good news, he couldn't contain his excitement. He ran as fast as he could, his heart pounding with anticipation, his mind racing with possibilities. The cool evening air brushed past his face, and the city's neon lights shimmered in the distance.

When he reached his apartment, he found Emi sitting on the couch, her eyes glued to her phone. She looked up at him, surprised by his sudden arrival.

"Emi, I am home!" he shouted, bursting through the door. Emi jumped up, her phone slipping from her hand. She caught it before it hit the floor and looked at him, a curious expression on her face.

"What happened?" she asked, intrigued by Akito's excitement.

"I got a job!" he exclaimed, a broad smile spreading across his face.

Emi's eyes widened in surprise, and then she grinned.

"That's amazing! What kind of job?"

"I am currently a janitor, but it's not just any janitorial job," Akito said, barely able to contain his excitement. "Every weekend, there's a brawl among the staff, and the winner gets a promotion or a bonus!"

Emi laughed, shaking her head in disbelief. "You're kidding, right?"

Akito shook his head. "No, I'm serious! And I'm gonna win every weekend!"

Emi rolled her eyes but couldn't help but feel happy for Akito. He had struggled to find a job for months, and finally, he had landed one that could support him and Emi. "So, when do you start?" Emi asked, still chuckling.

"Tomorrow morning," Akito replied. "And I can't wait to start earning!"

The next day, Akito woke up early, feeling more energized than he had in months. He put on his new janitor uniform, a navy blue jumpsuit with the company logo on the chest

he was greeted by Sang-Hyun, who gave him a quick briefing on his duties. Akito listened attentively, nodding along as he took mental notes.

"I am sending you to the Janitor's room, you're gonna meet your boss of the job," Sang-Hyun said to him before handing him a mop and a bucket and leading him to the first floor.

"I wonder, is my boss a fighter? is he badass or cool?" Akito thought to himself as they walked towards the first floor.

"Enjoy your day, Akito," Sang-Hyun said as he walked away.

"Good luck," Sang-Hyun looked at him and added, before continuing to walk away. there was a man wearing a janitor uniform behind Akito's back, he was looking a little old and dirty.

"Ah, so you're the new guy?" the man said, he was wearing a blue cap, and he was also mopping down the floor.

"Yeah! Nice to meet you, Are you my? Boss?" Akito asked, his voice filled with excitement.

"Correct, I'm Higuchi Langley, the head janitor of this place. I know I may look old as hell, but trust me, I'm only 35 years old," Higuchi introduced himself as he wiped off the sweat from his face, his cap covering most of his gray hair. Akito couldn't help but notice Higuchi's firm posture and commanding presence.

"Wow, that's impressive. I'm Akito, pleased to meet you, sir," Akito said, extending his hand for a handshake.

Higuchi looked at Akito's hand for a second, then nodded and shook it firmly. "Good to have you on board, Akito. Let me show you around and teach you the ropes."
