Chapter 6 - THE MISSION AND THE HARD PATH

"What should I do now Grandpa!" Frank asked expectantly.

"I believe the light has gone out now! Go and bring the box Here!" the old man send him back to his room.

Frank rushed and soon was back holding the suitcase in his hands. He gently placed it before his grandpa. He looked at it as the greatest treasure he had ever received.

"This box housed all the secrets of my life, after All!" he thought and therefore took good care of it all his life.

"Now open It," the old man directed him. He did as he instructed.

"Do you notice a small zip on the right wall? Open that compartment!"

Frank was stupefied! How many times has he been opening this box? But there had never been a zip or a separate compartment! Yet right now there was a pocket size compartment with a tiny zip sealing it off! This must be magic!

"Place your hand in and take out what you find!" The old man said.

Frank hesitated, curious yet terrified. Slowly he dipped his hand and he felt something like a watch or a bracelet. It was metallic. He pulled it out. Astonishingly it was a brand New wristwatch made of pure gold which shone brightly by the reflection of the overhead lamp.

But it did not look as normal wristwatches!

And it wasn't displaying time.

Instead the watch was a drawing covered by a clear glass. He brought it closer to his eyes a d could distinguish the drawings clearly. It was a throne room with two elegant throne seats placed on a raised platform! But what was catching to the eye was that the bigger seat was unoccupied and a lady sat majestically on the other chair.

"What do you see?" his grandfather asked after some minutes.

"Something like a throne! I think there is a queen seated..."

"And the King?"

"The king...His seat appears empty!" Frank said and looked up, hoping to get the meaning from his grandfather. "What does it mean, Grandpa?"

"No! The question should be, where is the King, right?"

"Yes Grandpa!"

"As you can tell the queen is all alone. She is waiting for the king. But that king has to be made!

"He has to rise!

"He is somewhere very far from his throne! Not yet king but somebody has to help him become King!"

"Will He?"

"The path is not easy! Nevertheless, he has to walk it. First, he has to be united with the one to help him ascend to the throne. The two must be one for him to succeed!" The old man said this and his face fell. Frank noticed it and wondered.

"Is everything okay Grandpa! Why are you so sad?"

"Nothing is okay from now onwards! He who wants to reign forever is rising! He will not let these two to be one! He will do everything possible to change the worlds for his favour and grab the reigns of power from the Old one!

"My grandson! You must stop him! You must stop the Dark Lord before he becomes the Supreme ruler of all planets and all that lives!

"You must save the planets. This is your destiny.

"Go and find the daughter of the Old one, she will help you. Go before it is too late!"

After saying this, the old man collapsed on his bed. Frank ran to him and held him up. He seemed to be in a trance and his breathing was hoarse.

"Are you okay Grandpa! Are you alright, please stay with me! Stay with me!"

The old man spoke slowly but Frank could get what he said.

"As the first rays of light so would she be to your eyes!

"As soon as is light, go to school, she is waiting for you!"

The morning came so fast.

Noel was still not over her night experience with the stranger from the past and really wanted to share her experience with somebody. But she felt restrained because the man had told her to keep it as a secret until he returned. He said he would return that night! She couldn't wait to see evening come. But first she had an assignment to do.

The guest had told her that her partner was somebody from her class- obviously a male. She tried to picture all the males in her class and wondered who it could be.

"Probably someone I have a crush on!" she thought.

Well, from her class? No! She didn't have a personal crush on any of her classmates but at least in the entire campus there was a guy whom she was dying to be with. But her heart had been broken the moment she knew he was married.

"I can't be someone's second thought!"

What about those who had crushes on her! There were numerous! Countless men had tried to win her heart over but she had always flatly turned them down. She was an extremely virtuous woman and every body knew her principles! It was an open secret that she was still blossoming and nobody had dared to deflower her!

Besides, peer influence didn't affect her as she had almost everything that was worth to be envied. Her parents had long moved from the village and bought a luxurious home just outside the town. They had plenty of money and she was the only child who swum in their fortune! She drove herself to the university everyday! What more could entice her to a man! Most of her female colleagues only envied her.

As she drove to school this morning she came by a cyclist who was driving in the middle of the road. She honked her horn to get his attention. The man seemed preoccupied and she had to honk again.

"Beep! BEEEEP!"

That is when the cyclist got startled and swerved to the side of the road before stopping and turning to her.

" Am really sorry my apologies!" Frank started and stopped seeing it was his classmate Noel. Something just clicked in his mind.

'Did grandfather say the first female student I shall meet today shall be the one? 'The daughter of the Old one!" his mind quickly did the thinking! He did not quite remember what the grandfather said but was something like that, he believed.

"No it can't be Noel!" he told himself, "Besides, I know her parents! No! I think I am mistaken!"

"Are you alright Frank?" Noel asked again. She had been talking to him but he seemed lost in thoughts!

"Oh sorry! No! I mean Yes am okay!" he fumbled as he recollected.

She observed him silently and shook her head. She felt like telling him to come to his car so that she could take him to school. Then she decided against it.

"You look dizzy! Are you really able to ride to school?" she asked, again wanting to extend her invitation to him.

"Yes thanks! I am fine! I will manage!" he said and made like starting off to pedal.

"Call him! Just call him!" A voice urged her as she stared at him.

"Why is this lady staring at me like this? Could she be thinking about the same thing as me? Does she know It?" A dialogue erupted in Frank's head. Partly he didn't want this to be true. He remembered that he had tried on several occasions to approach Noel previously but she had shown no interest. Furthermore, he said she was a class way too above him.

"Who would date a poor, beggar like me whose background was a mere blurry?"

"Call him now!" The voice became persistent in Noel's head but she shook her head and sped off in her car!

Zooom!

Frank stared at her as she disappeared and shook his head as if a person had slapped him out of a trance.

"I think I just made a fool of myself before that angel!" he said as he started pedalling following the car slowly.

Inside the car, Noel was feeling extremely hot and just now realized that the medallion had resurfaced around her neck! She could not remember the point when it came up.

"Was it when I was talking to him! No that can't be correct. I would never accept him as my lifetime partner!" she said.

Immediately she felt a massive headache and she almost screamed out in pain.
