When Caelus woke up he was feeling complicated. Unlike before, he was not actually feeling brokenhearted. Contrary, he actually felt like smiling.
He was happy to remember the face of someone he used to cherish. And he was sure he had got the closure he didn't get in his past life.
*Did seeing Hikari happy helped? Why?*
When he saw Hikari was still awake, he knew she was the reason he was able to get his closure. He couldn't understand it but he was thankful for her.
That was why he thought he should give back properly. He convinced her that she should rest too.
"You should rest so that I won't have to heal you too. You know, I'm not even sure if I can heal you. So, if you don't want to be an experimental subject, you should rest." He said jokingly.
For him, Hikari was someone who had stabilized his unstable mental state and soul.
Seeing Hikari's treatment, he felt she thought of him as a younger brother. It was thanks to his appearance as Sho.
He wasn't offended by the thought. Actually, he was happy. His soul had a real overhaul. He felt cleansed.
"A-ah? I-I'm alive?"
A rough voice interrupted Caelus' thought as he was doing a round of checking on the patients who had Dead Essence expelled in their body. He wanted to make sure that there was nothing he had missed and the patients were truly healed.
He looked to where the voice came from and saw Alisa who was struggling to stand up.
She was a little woman. One would mistake her for a child because of her short height. Yet, she doesn't act like a kid at all. She was sick at the moment but he could feel her dignity. Her current unruly look didn't even lessen her dignity.
"Careful."
He immediately went to her side and stopped her from going up.
"Wait. You don't have enough energy. I'll prepare a meal for you."
"No heavy food… I can't remember when I last ate. I might die or get a stomach ache if I eat meat." She weakly said.
Caelus was glad she said that and that Alisa was the first who regained consciousness among the patients. If not, Caelus might have fed them meat. If there was a complication that would arise, he would have no choice but to wake Hikari up.
He was embarrassed thinking he might have caused death to those he treated because of his ignorance.
He promptly steamed the bread that Hikari pointed to Caelus when they had talked about food.
He was amazed at the fact that these foods were something Science Will group bought in the Survival Shop just so they would have excess stocks of food. They didn't even thought of saving up the points to upgrade themselves because they had grinded GP as early as they could.
Caelus was broke poor in the GP sense. As he had to recuperate as soon as the Super Phenomena started and he had a lot on his mind after that. He didn't even think of grinding points.
However, the opposite happened to others.
Like Asahi, Gouki and Akihiko; Hikari also grinded lots of God Points with the people of Science's Will.
As such, she was tasked to buy foods, medicines and potions for everyone. Hikari even wanted to trade Caelus some of her God Points but he refused.
He wanted to "grind" it himself.
Because of the topic about trading God Points and earning them, Hikari revealed a gruesome thing about points. At the start of Super Phenomena, killings were common. The Scientist deemed it as an Error of the System.
Because when someone killed others, they would get some of the God Points.
It was hellish on Zones when it was discovered.
It was the first week and many became blinded by greed to kill as much as they could to become stronger.
Humans killed each other. Dragon Riders killed each other as well.
It was the reason why many had died when they met other Users.
According to the Science Will, the First Zone up to Fourth Zone calling was only interracial Zone. The Science Will said that the First to Fourth Zone was a calling since people who weren't registered to the System were forcefully pulled inside a Zone until the Fourth Zone. In those first four Zones, only humans were able to register to the System.
After that, Zones of the two worlds were put together. It was like the two Natives of the two worlds were slowly seeing each other inside the Zones and outside as well. As the merging of the two worlds progressed, the Natives became more common.
As such, killings were also extremely common.
But after a System Error and a seemed-like System Patch.
The "reward" of killing others got removed. Instead, when someone tried to hit you with some ill intent and you defended yourself and then killed that person, the system would give you something like compensation.
The killing reward became complicated so that one would think twice before killing another User. However, killing "monsters" still gave ample GP rewards. Of course, it was not really easy to find monsters who were still weak as they grew stronger the more they had killed.
Caelus was really surprised when he heard of that.
*System Patch? System Error? Monsters?*
It means someone was really monitoring everyone.
*But there was no more God's Army around. Who was monitoring us?*
He could only sigh in relief as that someone was actually against indiscriminate killing for gain.
His question at the time when he heard of that was: "Is the System adapting to our environment? Is the previous System based on other worlds Super Phenomena and it wasn't suited for us that's why it is adjusting?"
He felt the only way he would know is to Rank up.
Because when he asked the System, the System gave him a mechanical answer.
Because of that, he was really feeling the drive to Rank himself up. After ranking up, he felt that he would be able to talk to whoever was using and patching the system.
Should he call it the God of System?
Since there was a God's Army, it was normal to think there's a God above them.
Caelus snapped out of his reminiscence when the steam mix with smoke covered his face. He was so deep in thought he forgot about the way of cooking.
He coughed and started to fan away the smoke.
Because there's no more appliances that were working, they were back to using firewood to cook. He could only be grateful that there was actually an "ancient stove" among the shops that they could use. Although he didn't know how to use it, Caelus' memory still had knowledge about heating firewood when he camped out of the mountain.
There was also Sho's memory. He liked camping outside his castle once in a while with the help of the mood of anime or manga he watched. His adventure was actually funny and childish if Caelus thought about it.
He felt a sudden chill in his body and froze.
*Is Sho's ghost mad at me? Sorry! I didn't mean it!*
He felt guilty thinking about Sho who might be around watching him. If the kid was really around, he felt that it could be possible. Among the memories of Sho, he couldn't deny that everything that happened ever since he had entered Sho's body was all considered "impossible" before.
So, if Sho's ghost was somewhere around…
"Are you there…?" He whispered.
He wasn't really afraid if someone answered. Or if Sho answered.
To be honest, he would feel better if Sho really did answer. He really wanted to talk with the kid.
It was all his selfishness who wanted to make sure the kid had no hard feelings for him
"Yes?"
