Chapter 41 - Favored

"You should have made it a little clearer, Lucas...",Leo quipped, nudging him in the shoulder. With a short giggle he responded, "Sorry about that." "Nevermind that. Are you saying that a camp made solely of women built this base? It's....unbelievable." "I know. Still don't know how they did it. But those Sisters.....they are really strong..." "Sisters?" "Well, they're not really sisters, they just call themselves that. They are the executives of Ponies, a Captain, and three lieutenants." "From your perspective...., Do you think Howling's stronger than the Ponies?" "I do believe that Howling has the advantage....But those girls....they are...dangerous. We'll be there soon, you'll see."

Jethro sat next to an injured Pierson after overcoming the golem. Pierson gazed at him keenly before questioning,"Do you...by any chance, have a sibling?" "No I don't, not that I remember alot of my previous life, anyway...Why, what's the matter?" "Well....it's just that your god ability reminds me of.....nevermind."Jethro shrugged and didn't inquire further. He took of his layers and soon sat shirtless. At that moment, Pierson noticed a uncanny marking branded on the upper left of his back. It was a figure 7, with an asterisk next to it.

The trio ascended a flight of spiral stairs within the castle-like structure in the base. The Ponies' emblem was ubiquitous. The walls were marbled with magenta and another darker hue, lit by rays of sunlight that pierced through the petite windows, creating a subtle golden hue. They soon stood before a large wooden door, a redish brown tinge. In a few moments, it was opened, grafting them entrance. It was a large, articulate room, draped with turquoise curtains. The walking ground was overwhelmed with diverse colored tiles and pleasant murals. Facing their direction were four thrones, three of which were empty. Kazumi strutted towards them, seemingly confident. "How have you been, Freya?",Kazumi addressed the woman, who remained seated. Her skin was a radiant chestnut, veiled by her lengthy scarlet strands that separated into multiple braids. Her eyes were a foggy brown, and she wore a revealing black dress, carving her voluptuous figure. She smirked mischievously, revealing her sharp canines that made her look a bit monstrous. "What business do you have here, Kazumi?",she asked in a breathy voice. "Not much. I only have a proposal." "Speak then.." "A final Showdown, winner....rules over the other factions in the second lab. I know you would like to participate, Freya. You dislike Klaus as much as me." "What makes you think you are in any position to issue something like this?" "Never said I was. I just think it's time decided once and for all...". At this, Freya lept up from her seat and sauntered towards Kazumi, staring at him in the eyes. "I know you are scheming something, Kazumi. I. don't know how, but you seem confident you are going to win this. I would like to decline, but it sounds so tempting...." "What is your answer, Freya?" "Hmm...Let's discuss it....ALONE." Kazumi turned to Leo and Lucas and motioned for them to wait outside, and they obeyed. Lucas folded his arms and leaned on the door, when Leo said," This place looks incredible, I've got to see more. I'm going to check it out." "Yeah sure...whatever you want..." Lucas lazily muttered a response.

Leo descended the stairs within a few minutes, and took a stroll outside. He marveled at the beauty of this base. "They really put the work in this place. It's surreal." At that moment, he spotted a miniature arena in the distance. He inched closer and saw that it was in use. Two girls were having a sparring session. The first had dark hair, and the ability to manipulate rock formations. She hurled small Boulders at the other, who weaved between the rocks effortlessly, almost acrobatic. Leo stared at them for a minute, mesmerized, until the dark hair girl launched a much bigger boulder, one impossible to dodge. Just before the Boulder made impact, she crouched suddenly, when huge angelic wings sprouted from behind her. With a flap, they blew the into minute pieces. The wings stretched out, revealing their fiery brilliance, a marbled hue of vermillion and saffron. Leo gasped at the sight, falling back."That looks just like..."
