Chapter 9 - Past the barrier

"You should have just done what you were told, now your daughter is going to die and that is on you, I should have just let you live with that, but these are trying times and it's only going to get worse," He said, and Myalis gasped as the guy turned towards the wall.

He sensed someone else was there because Myalis had a different presence than most and he smirked then punched through the wall, grabbing her neck and pulling her towards him, and she gasped as he drew her closer to him, Myalis looked him directly in the eyes and he chuckled while staring at her eyes and his lit up bright red as well as his body.

When he looked at Myalis, he saw no fear in her eyes, and all she could think about was her mother, which irritated him even more and he got angrier.

"W- Who are you?" Myalis asked and the queen's eyes trembled as he squeezed her daughter's throat and the girl began struggling to breathe.

'Mom will not make it, I knew that from the minute I saw her, but I will not let him make things worse for her, though, why is this even happening?' Myalis wondered as she gnashed her teeth.

"Leave us alone..." She mumbled as she forcefully lifted her leg and kneed him on his elbow due to which he released her and she looked at the marking on his clothes as well as the real color of his eyes.

When Myalis spotted her mother's sword lying on the ground, she grabbed it and struck the guy on the arm. However, the sword's edge also scraped the side of his mask, allowing her to catch a glimpse of his face before he kicked her into the wall, causing her to drop the sword and cough up blood due to the impact she landed with.

"You are full of fight and don't know when to give up, that's nice, but you might get in the way in the future, so to avoid that, I have to kill you as well, I hope you understand that," He said as he prepared to attack her, she attempted to stand up but was unable to do so because of an energy force emanating from him that was pushing her against the ground.

At that moment, Myalis didn't know what to do and she screamed, the guards heard her scream and got worried, there was a strong barrier surrounding the entire barrier that was keeping them from even looking inside.

The king had other powerful knights but they had gone on a mission for him and the guard who was powerful and could help in protecting the queen and the princess was already dead.

The guards decided to use their special skills to get past the barrier after realizing that the one before them was powerful. Myalis looked out the balcony and that's when she saw the light of them trying to get past the barrier reflecting in the sky and she lowered her head.

"Master, we must move quickly or this will backfire; those knights won't stop; they'll break through that barrier because they are not weak," Another person said as he leaped into the balcony and Myalis's eyes landed on her mother's sword beside her.

At that moment, without thinking, Myalis grabbed the sword and moved, piercing the sword through his chest, the guy's eyes widened as well as the queen's as his henchmen fell off of the balcony, crashing into the ground and a few more of them arrived.

"Myalis..." Her mother mumbled and Myalis took a deep breath before one of them was about to hit her and she flicked back before slashing him across his stomach.

She was slashed by the side before she could strike another of them, and the one leading the attackers grinned before grabbing her by the hair. She then struck him with the sword a second time, and he slammed her into the floor due to which she coughed up blood, and her mother looked at her as the wound on her chest shone light blue.

"Are you okay?" Her mother asked and she scoffed, then nodded and the guy smiled as the knights stormed the castle and the minions looked at the partly broken barrier and then sighed.

"We will take care of them, you can finish your job," One among them said then they all left as the knights rushed up the stairs and the enemies confronted them.

They all began fighting and Myalis looked at her mother.

The girl knew that no matter what was done, her mother wouldn't survive and her eyes began glowing purple before she held onto her mother's hand.

"Die peacefully now, you guys fought enough," The guy said as he released an attack while the knights killed a few of his minions to get to them, suddenly Myalis turned around to fight him off, but instead, she was shoved out of the way and the air got foggy, making it difficult for her to see anything but yet she saw something falling to the floor beside her mother and her eyes trembled when she noticed it was a person.

"Mother and daughter, this is what should have happened a long time ago," The guy said before disappearing, the fog cleared up and Myalis gasped when she saw someone looking like her laying beside her mother.

"What is this?" She asked as the person looking like her transformed into her mother's familiar which was also a Narvir.

"Mica..." Myalis mumbled as she held onto her mother and looked at her familiar which smiled at her before transforming back into the form of Myalis and taking its final breath.

Mica was given to the queen on her wedding day as a gift from the king and she was one which could take the form of a person it dearly cared for.

"It's all right... Sweetheart, she did it on her own, and now everyone will think that you're dead as well...." Myalis looked at the queen as she mumbled.

"I am sorry, I can't do anything to help you... I don't have the healing ability," She said as she pressed against her mother's wound, trying to stop the bleeding.

"It's okay, sweetheart, just pay attention because I'm going to explain this in the little time I have left.... When your father arrives, he will see our bodies here; obviously, that is not the real you, but that is what they will believe; you must leave here and go far away, start a life, and use your abilities to discover the truth...." She said.
