Chapter 4 - A New Home.

In the year 1968, Albert, Alex, and William, along with the five other children who lived in the group home, were all given the name Wesker. They were also given the chance to spend their time in an atmosphere that encouraged the children's intellectual growth and provided them with unrestricted access to resources. Because of the time they spent together, they gained an understanding of the catastrophic effects that war and plague had on mankind, and as a direct result, they formed a profound aversion to both of these calamities. They thought that these conditions hampered the progression of humankind and kept it from realizing its full potential. They believed that humanity had hit a standstill in terms of its evolutionary progress and was in need of a fundamental shift in order to break free from the boundaries it had imposed on itself. They were unaware that this was the result of the work of the W project team or that Spencer's ideals had been instilled in them.

As a direct result of the mutual comprehension that they attained, they stood as individuals in the effort for order, salvation, and rebirth. They were of the opinion that in order for mankind to progress, there must first be a peaceful society that is free from the devastation that is caused by war and sickness. They longed for a fresh start, one in which all of humanity could collaborate in order to build a better future for themselves. They progressed academically and simultaneously developed a growing fascination with virology, also known as the study of viruses. In yet another instance of Spencer's manipulative behavior, the author omits other topics in favor of focusing on the witch.

They established a bond comparable to that of siblings throughout the years they lived together. They completed high school education together, and when they were 11 years old in 1971, Albert and William both proceeded to the University of Liverpool to further their studies. Spencer had developed an interest in Alex and had paid greater attention to her, causing Alex to believe that she was the best of them all and that she had begun to learn directly from umbrella experts.

Both Williams and Albert spent their time in college studying, with Albert concentrating on becoming an expert in biotechnology and bioengineering. At the age of 17, he graduated from college and was headhunted by Umbrella. Albert became a student at their executive training facility. It was there that he would meet and become acquainted with another student called William Burkin, who was much younger.

After receiving his doctorate in human virology and evolutionary biology, William Wesker declined the offer from Umbrella and decided to remain in his position at the university. The members of the W project team, including Spencer, were frustrated since they had plans for him. Since they are unable to intervene, their only option is to influence Albert in the hopes of convincing him to join. In 1979, William began researching non-coding DNA and quickly rose to become the foremost expert in the field of theoretical non-coding DNA study worldwide.

After leaving university and with Albert's assistance, William was headhunted by Umbrella. However, because William gave them issues and Spencer believed that he squandered time and his talent there, he ordered that the local institution in Raccoon City undergo renovations and expansions. Students were given the opportunity to participate in internships with Umbrella as part of their connection with the company, which included Umbrella providing lab equipment and research professionals so that the other researchers could conduct their own research. As part of his punishment, William was stationed there to keep an eye on the other students and researchers.

All the while, Alex Wesker became a doctor at age 18, was sent to Umbrellas HQ, and became a trusted exclusive by Spencer enough that she was introduced to the Wesker Project. Where she would continue to work on this vision, making it a reality. But even so, her bonds with the others were still there, so she would watch out for them and not let them know she worked for Umbrella.
