Edward just stared at his daughter in disbelief and couldn't help but smile. She hurriedly cleaned everything up and sadly said "All that money wasted on ingredients. I promise to you dad, when I arrive at Crown Lake, I'll make sure to teach that Miquel a lesson for wasting my money!" She took out some bread from a cabinet and smeared peanut butter on it before holding her ears and saying "sorry dad, now you can't have a satisfying meal because of my foolishness". Her father replied "I'm just glad I still have some time to see this foolishness of yours before you finally leave me". That was when it dawned on Abi, that in order to attend Crown Lake Academy, she had to leave her dad.
Both father and daughter neither spoke until they had finished their dinner. Abi wore a sad look while cleaning up the dishes. She thought long and hard before she said"I won't go!" "What?" her father asked. "There's no one here to take care of you. I mean, if I leave now who would cook, clean, and remind you to take your medicines on time? No I can't go". As much as Edward had been waiting for her to say this, he suddenly felt guilty. Weighing down his little girl with his illness and crushing her dreams. He couldn't keep her locked up forever. He had to let her go.
Looking into her glossy emerald eyes, he said",You have to go. And no, I don't want to hear any excuses this time, I'll stay at that elderly home by the bridge"He had been expecting her to be a bit hesitant but the girl jumped on him and gave him a tight hug"really daddy? I love you so so much" He smiled because he was happy seeing her happy. She began to walk all around the room thinking of all the arrangements she needed to make. "So If we're to resume next month,I'll have to arrange the money before the end of the month." And she went on and on until he slowly fell asleep in his wheelchair.
Abi smiled and covered him with a blanket. She also didn't want to leave him but she had to fulfill her dream of being a doctor so she could treat him and also so she can see Miquel. She covered her eyes at just the thought of being in the same school with him. She was so excited she slapped herself to make sure she wasn't dreaming. "What is this 17-year old mind thinking now?" she thought to herself. She had to go to work the next day so she laid down to sleep. She couldn't wait to be rid of Madame Gigi's tantrums and those disgusting customers that stared at her lustfully. She could finally quit that yacky job and do something more productive. Just one month to go. She sighed and went to sleep.
