Brunos turned around and saw nothing at first. It took him to shift his gaze upwards to see a bunch of succubi flying down the Valinan mountain, the one with blue wings letting loose of an arrow on her bowstring.
The arrow launched toward him at a dramatic speed, and if not for its azure fletchs, Brunos would not have been able to notice how fast it was approaching him.
Thankfully, he had Super Speed ability. He activated it and started seeing in slow motion. A grin almost tore his face. He was sure the arrow was not going to hurt him.
'With this ability, I can even catch a flying arrow.'
That was his plan. Let it come near then show your enemies how useless their weapons are.
Just as he was starting to raise his right hand in preparations of catching the incoming arrow, something horrific happened.
Lilyon jumped in front of him and allowed the arrow to cut through the flesh on her left shoulder.
'No!' Brunos cursed as he saw its bullet point emerging from Lilyon's hind shoulder. 'Not like this!'
He rushed to save her from falling on the ground, almost about to cry because of the guilty feeling.
'If I have jumped away from the arrow right away this would not have happened.'
Lilyon didn't have enhanced sight as him. She might have saw the arrow then thought Brunos didn't see it.
'Why didn't she push me away instead? There were other possibilities. Why choose this?'
Brunos kept blabbering as he reached for her. He wrapped his hands under her armpits and gently descended her to the ground.
"You should not die Brunos! You should not! Mom can't die for nothing." Her voice was weak, almost as if life was flowing out of her.
"You're the one who should not die."
Brunos lay her to her side, and not wasting an second, he grabbed the arrow's shaft that had managed to make it through her flesh. He flinched it with mighty energy, breaking it instantly.
At that moment, he heard a deafening sound of two different steel materials crashing against each other. He raised his head to see Morrin tossing arrows aside with her long single edged sword.
Bang! Bang!
He looked behind him.
A fierce battle had erupted between the bronze haired maid and Eleanor. Not exactly a battle. The maid was stronger than Eleanor. But when the Petite joined them, the maid failed to fight both of them.
Brunos could tell it wasn't because she was weak. On top of not being flexible, her maid's uniform didn't have a slit to allow the owner to summon her wings. Summoning them would leave her naked. That's why she was fighting without her wings to boost her agility.
"I told you she wasn't a normal maid."
Brunos heard Lilyon's weak voice.
"Whoever she is, she is going to pay for this."
After saying that, Brunos stared at the arrow. It was the time to pull it out.
"It's going to hurt."
Lilyon gave him a puzzled look before she realized what he meant. "Are you crazy? I'll bleed to death if you pull this thing out."
"Don't you have a healing ability?"
Brunos had used his inspection ability to study Lilyon's stats. He wanted to know how much damage the arrow had caused to her body. It is while staring at her diminishing HP when he saw the healing ability beneath.
"It's too weak to heal this wound," Lilyon tried to explain. "And I don't have enough Lust Leaves to enhance it."
Brunos lips were almost going to touch hers to give her some Lust Leaves when he remembered that since she once gave some to him through a kiss, sex would be the mode of payment.
'Fuck!'
But then, a brilliant idea came to him.
"Don't worry!" He turned to look at the Petite. "She will heal you!"
Lilyon glanced the same way and curled her lips into a hopeful smile when she saw the Petite.
"How do you plan to call her?"
A few seconds passed without Brunos's response, then as if it was an answer, he yelled.
"Hey! Hey!"
He felt stupid to call someone whom they didn't know if she could even hear them.
Did he have any other choice?
Miraculously, both Eleanor and the Petite glanced at him. Not wanting to miss such an opportunity, Brunos pointed at her and made a come-here-gesture with his hand.
Eleanor realized whom Brunos wanted and moved her focus back to the bronze haired opponent as the Petite sped in Brunos's direction.
Seeing one of the enemies gone, the bronze haired maid exploited the opportunity and threw a devastating blow to Eleanor. With confidence that the damage made was enough, she run away shouting orders.
"Surround them! I want a rain of arrows. Now!"
At that moment, shadows of succubi making a formation above Brunos and his girls brought a slight darkness and a smell of danger.
"Your highness," Morrin exploited that opportunity to speak to Brunos. "You've got to get out of here. It's too dangerous for you."
Brunos fought his longing to tease Morrin for her submissive tone. However, her argument was reasonable. Staying under those shapshooters would be a suicide mission.
With his Super Speed ability ready, he lifted Lilyon bridal mode, but before he could run, "It's of no use," he had Lilyon saying.
"If we run away, the Petite will die. No healer no me."
She didn't wait for Brunos to ask what was the plan b. "I'm going to make their wings fragile. With your speed, knock a few on the ground and follow that maid. She must be their commander."
Brunos looked at her with admiration.
"Now! she continued. "Pull this thing out."
As soon as Brunos threw the azure arrow aside, the Petite moved her face close to Lilyon's wounded shoulder and brightened it with her blue light.
Lilyon on the other hand, looked unconscious and Brunos could sense a change in the atmosphere around them. One by one, the succubi who were getting ready to send a wave of arrows lost control of their wings and started falling like heavy rain drops.
Brunos didn't wait for all of them to kiss the ground. He run in a circular pattern, lingering a little on each of them to deliver his punch with enough energy to bounce her on the grass.
Morrin, not surprised by Brunos's godly speed anymore, followed him decapitating the dizzy Brunos-Super-Speed-punch victims with only one slash.
Brunos who was hesitant to kill any of them, felt something cold onto his neck then turned around.
'Holy shit!'
Three to four succubi's decapitated bodies hugged the ground, their heads sprawled across the grass as if in a garden of pumpkins.
As if the sight wasn't horrific enough, Morrin chopped of another head as easy and comfortable as a farmer cutting weed. The tip of her sword was dripping with vermilion liquid, her face looking as calm and satisfied as a poor man having a free meal in a 5-star hotel.
"What are you staring at? They would have killed us instead."
Hesitantly, Brunos had to turn around and proceed with his massacre. If everyone he punched would instantly die on Morrin's blade, it meant he was the one killing them.
This wasn't his first time killing many people at the same time.
He had killed millions and millions of people, but of course only with a pen. Throughout his writing career, many characters had to suffer consequences of his merciless imagination. But now that it wasn't imagination but something real, he tried to feel guilty but couldn't. Was it because they would have killed him instead?
Uh... yes or... or maybe because he was no longer Morgan but a king who had fought many wars.
'I better focus on war.'
With a change in his mindset, he launched to the nearest succubus. She was still trying to recover from the drastic fall. Instead of a punch, he grabbed her head and twisted her neck.
A tune of her cracking bones brought a satisfied look on his face and prompted him to aim for more satisfaction.
'I never thought I'll end up a killer.'
He killed another one and wandered his eyes in search of his next victim. Seconds later, a blue haired gorgeous came into his view. Unlike others, she had somehow managed to land on her left foot, her right knee touching the ground superhero style.
'What an impression!'
Brunos recognized her as the one who shot Lilyon and launched in her direction with a doubled killing intent.
Unfortunately, for the first time, someone was able to dodge his lightening attack. Before he could grasp the meaning the situation, he felt someone's elbow banging on his neck.
He insinticvely stepped forward to reduce the effect of her blow. He also didn't forget to turn around as quick as possible so he could avoid being caught off-guard once again.
"Who are you?" He tried to distract her with a conversation so that Morrin's blade will do its job from behind, but she was too wise to fall for that.
"Someone who's going to kill you," she replied as she charged with a dramatic speed.
With his super speed, Brunos was able to step aside in an instant and bang her on the neck with his wrist.
"Why do you want to kill me?"
Instead of answering, she surprised Brunos with a roar that sent him 2 meters back. It wasn't because she was loud, or because her screech was high-pitched. It was because of the hot air that surrounded her, creating a circle of heat that made Brunos's vision blurry.
At that moment, she turned around with a golden ball dancing in her curved hands.
"Because you have to die," she gave an answer to Brunos's recent question. "On top of being Brunos, you've dared to kill some of us with your witchcraft. You must die! You have to die!"
The word 'pyroknesis' rang inside Brunos's head as he stared at the flames on a ball in her hands. He also didn't forget to activate inspection ability.
'Finally, a real fight!'
