Chapter 31 - Naked illusions.

Brunos stared at Lilyon's left shoulder with wide eyes, tears threatening to sprout out of them at any second.

Due to the Petite's magic, the wound on it should have already closed. Instead, it was wide for a finger to pass through it. Brunos even entertained the idea that he could see through it.

Did it get wide? Why?

The wound was bleeding, blood pouring from it and dripping down the Petite's fingers; she was sitting beside Lilyon, holding her shoulders with her green hands.

Brunos locked eyes with the Petite who wore a worried expression on her green face, sadness and anger lurking nearby.

Soon after, he turned his gaze back at Lilyon, this time at her face. Some kind of show was going on on that brown face of hers, pain and fear hosting it. Sadness and vengeful were the guests.

Uh... Eleanor?

Brunos who couldn't find right words at the time decided to wander his eyes in search of Eleanor.

Firstly, they landed on a red succubus; beheaded of course. Second, on green one then on a mashed head.

'Sweet Mother of Jesus!'

The bodies made it difficult for Brunos to move his eyes fast. How could he pass such a disturbing view as if he had seen nothing?

An enemy is an enemy. It's a rule. If you are lucky to survive his ambush, there is no reason to reconsider the idea of killing him as fast as you can. But blood is thick. Many people say than water. But it's even thicker than a porridge, milk and... and you can say soil if you want to.

Blood is blood, thick or not.

He didn't want to, but thanks to lingering a little on them, Brunos had counted the decapitated bodies.

Eleven.

Whoever had sent them was going to be...

Wait!

Weren't they so many? Where were the others?

He wandered his eyes, this time faster.

Three succubi stood together, their wings cyan, marroon and yellow, their arms raised above their heads in surrender.

Knowing exactly what Morrin would do to them, he resumed his search for Eleanor, and there she was.

Lying on the ground immovable, the area around her jagged from the fire balls bombarding, she looked like a dead body.

Did Amellia's ball hit her?

The sight sent chills down Brunos's spine and prompted him to run for her.

He squatted beside her and put his ear on her chest. His intention wasn't to feel the warmth from her soft mammoth mounds.

But he did.

Before dirty thoughts could invade his mind, he heard a tick tuck sound.

He sighed in relief and lifted her bridal style.

Lilyon and the Petite were only staring at him.

At the time, everyone didn't have what to say except Morrin.

"Is she still alive?"

Brunos stared at her. She lowered her gaze as a result.

"And heavy," he replied.

Morrin raised her head for Brunos to see a weak smile that was emerging on it.

"Thank devils!"

This is when Brunos remembered he was a demon. He had to thank devils instead of God. Would he get used to saying thank devils instead of thank you God?

'Whatever!'

As he approached Lilyon and the Petite, his eyes scanned the area around them in hopes of finding a suitable place to lay Eleanor on.

Unfortunately, he could only see holes with stones jagged as a result of the fire balls.

Realization.

Though their battle with Old Generation succubi probably lasted for only ten to twenty minutes, it had destroyed as much as an actual war could destroy.

The paved path to the garden was destroyed, some rose flowers roasted and some trees and houses down.

The battle field was a compound with grass and soil in some parts. They were in the middle of it, halfway to reaching the garden when Old Generation attacked. That's why most of the flowers didn't suffer a lot.

But that compound had paid the price for protecting the garden.

Once smooth and straight, now it was full of jagged holes, heads and their bodies, blood splodges decorating what was remaining of it.

It really was a destruction.

"Why isn't it healing?" asked Brunos as he gently lay Eleanor in front of them.

As usual, the Petite stared at him silently. However, this time, some strange emotion sparkled in her blue eyes. It was as if she was feeling pain. As if she was pushing some kind of limits.

A few seconds later,

"Aah aah!"

She was trying to speak but only aah could be heard.

Brunos stepped closer to her and patted her shoulder.

"It's OK!" He said. "Don't stress yourself."

He turned to look at Lilyon.

"Any idea?"

"They had probably applied some kind of a spell to their arrows," she replied. "But don't worry! I'll be alright. It's that it's going to be difficult and time consuming."

Hearing it was OK, though he could tell it was not, Brunos flinched his head to look at Amellia.

"She's going to pay for it."

His eye colour shifted from blue to red, indicating they were filled with killing intent.

He turned his gaze to Morrin.

"Where's your sword?"

She lowered her head.

She then pointed ten metres away from them.

"Bring it to me!"

"No!"

Brunos was stunned. After what he did for her, he thought she would become an obedient servant.

As if not wanting to be misunderstood, she hurried to add.

"You should follow her instead."

"Who?"

Morrin pointed at the Valinan Mountain.

The bronze haired maid was climbing it, about to reach its peak.

"Lania is their commander," Morrin explained. "If she escapes we won't know who was behind this and why. Go catch her. I'll take it from here."

Her argument was reasonable.

"OK!"

He stood up and stared at the bronze haired maid who was stepping at the peak. Soon, she disappeared from his sight.

"Brunos," Morrin pointed at Amellia. "She's stronger than that one. Be careful."

Brunos nodded.

"I should be the one going," she continued. "But I cannot run as fast as you and I cannot fly."

Brunos turned to look at Lilyon.

"Remove the spell so she can fly." He wanted to go with Morrin. That would make things easier and shorten duration for battle. He had to leave for Pergus valley, remember?

"If I remove the spell, Lania will be able to fly too. She has already put in some distance. Catching her will be impossible."

Brunos stared at Lilyon a long time before answering, "I see!" He was sad that two of his team, the team that would escort her to complete the Kill a Pergus were down.

Not wanting to fall into a depression, he turned on his heels and stared at the Valinan Mountain again.

"Brunos," he heard Lilyon's voice before he could run. "Do you know how to use a sword?"

Morrin stared at them confused. Of course! He is a warrior and a king. That was the expression on her face.

Seeing Morrin's confused face, he asked, "Do you have one?" Since Lilyon knew about his transmigration, Brunos knew what she meant.

He had never used a sword on earth. But he could rely on Brunos's memories and skills. This was time to put his 'morganism' aside and become Brunos completely.

"I guess yes."

As soon Lilyon finished those words, a long vermilion sword appeared in her right palm.

"It's not safe to go without a weapon."

Brunos stood still in awe.

Was it magic? Maybe a spell. Not wanting to stress himself, he grabbed it and shot himself toward the mountain peak.

***

It didn't take Brunos long to reach the mountain peak. He moved his gaze down the mountain and saw Lania descending.

Running down the mountain with Super Speed would be suicide. He chose to slow down. Accidentally, he tripped over a stone and rolled like a huge log going down Everest mountain.

'Shit!'

'A stone again?'

'Why me?'

He cursed, not believing what was happening and tried to grab onto grass but to no avail. Thankfully, his hand grasped a strong weed that he held tightly as if his life depended on it.

Soon, he rose to his feet again, panting and thanking the devils.

At that moment, he realized his sword had slipped away when he fell. It was rolling down the mountain alongside stones.

Some of the stones hit Lania and caused her turn around.

When she saw Brunos, for some reason, a smile appeared on her face. Thus, she turned around and started running again.

Brunos followed behind her, glad that she didn't take his sword. He couldn't see her arms which were in front of her, busy doing some things he didn't know.

Soon, she removed her maid shirt and threw it away. There was no undergarments inside. She stopped for a moment and removed her white skirt too.

Brunos could only say his favourite phrase.

'What the fuck!'

Thankfully, there was a white undergarment inside. What she was trying to do, Brunos had no idea. He just watched.

She summoned her wings and flew away. Now Brunos understood why. She did it so she could be able to summon her wings. It also made him realize that Lilyon's spell wasn't reaching this side of the mountain.

As a result, he flew after her.

She was flying upwards. This gave Brunos who was above her an advantage to catch up with her easily.

"You have nowhere to go," he yelled at her.

She tilted her head to her right side.

"Are you sure?"

That question mark was followed by a loud scream, then two, three, four...

The area filled with screams. That's when Brunos took grasp of what was happening.

She was multiplying.

Several illusions of her appeared beside her. To make matters worse, she made a U-turn and launched for Brunos, her illusions flying here and there.

Brunos panicked.

'Who is who?'

The screams were deafening, her illusion thing frightening, and the boobies that had multiplied into tenths torturing concentration out of Brunos.

As they approached, Brunos remembered he had flew before picking his sword.

'Fuck!'

He clenched his hands into fists as he tried hard to guess who was the real one.

'I never thought I would be an air force.'

When he had decided who was who, he launched his fist forward. It touched his target but cut through her as if she was a projected image.

Following, her screams turned into a mocking laughter.

"Guess what?" she asked. "We're a long distance above the ground and I'm going to punch you! Uh, you cannot dodge. What a pity!"
