"Our parents should be here by tomorrow," I told Addie during dinner, "I had the staff prepare their rooms."
"Do you think they will like me?" She asked.
"Of course, they will bokkie, what is there not to love?" Said Khalid, caressing my cheek with his thumb.
"You guys have to like me since we will soon be mated for life soon, but your parents and family do not."
"You will be a fine kitten," says Jaed, taking a bite of his bloody steak.
The following day, we all gathered in the courtyard as we waited for our parents to arrive. The others and I decided to introduce our families individually as they appeared.
"Are you ready?" I asked Addie, pulling her in for a kiss.
She nodded, then said, "As ready as I will ever be….."What are they like?"
"Hmm, well, my mother is ahh, shall we say… eccentric? She likes to wear gowns that went out of style a few hundred years ago… And can be a bit of a drama queen too. You will see when she gets here."
"You had seen how I looked when we first met; being eccentric is my forte." Addie said with a wink, "But what about your sisters? What are they like?"
"Zyrah is more like my father and me, and she has been training to become a knight. But Ryanne is more like my mother and can be a bit of a drama queen."
Addie was startled when a thundering whoosh-whoosh-whoosh came from above, echoing through the courtyard. I smiled when she gasped at the sight of my mother and sisters as they flew into view.
Mother's dragon had scales of metallic mahogany and was a majestic-looking beast with corkscrew horns that curved like a ram. Close behind her was a dragon with metallic copper-colored scales; that mighty dragon was my sister Zyrah. Behind her was Ryanne with dark metallic chestnut colored scales, the horns on her head corkscrew straight up, then curved backward like our fathers did. Looking at her in her dragon form made me think of father; I wish he would have been here to meet Addie.
One by one, the dragons landed, then shifted. This made Addie squeal in shock as mother transformed, then began walking over to us in her birthday suit.
"Mother, put some clothes on, please. Addie isn't used to seeing so much bare skin like we are."
Gasp, "Her name is Addie? What a great name!" Mother said dramatically.
"No, mother, I call her Addie, but her full name is Addelynn." I explained.
"Oh! That's even better! A strong name for our soon-to-be queen!"
Thankfully one of the servants hurried towards mother with a gown from her room. I shook my head as she slipped on the hideous Victorian 18th-century cocktail dress. Once fully dressed, she hurried over to Addie, pulling her in for a hug.
Poor Addie just stiffened, but she held on like a champ, smiling awkwardly, obviously very nervous.
"Oh my, what a beauty you are!" Mother smiled, " I have never seen such white skin before; it's truly spectacular!.... I wonder what you will look like as a dragon?"
I chuckled when I saw the look on Addie's face; now, my mother was speaking her language. My precious girl wants to be a dragon, and in a month, I and the Goddess will make it happen.
"Congrats, brother," I turned my attention to Zyrah as she approached. Zyrah was tall, like most dragon females, with short chestnut-colored hair, skin tanned by the sun's light, and amber-colored eyes. Zyrah was also muscular and wore dragon-scale armor made out of her own scales, making her look like the young warrior princess she was.
"Thanks, sis; I hope there will be a day when you find a male that meets your fancy," I said, clapping her on the shoulder.
"Well, since you are the firstborn, I lucked out and didn't have to search the Above for a mate who matches your fated mark," Zyrah says, " because I was lucky enough not to have one and can choose whom I spend my life with."
"You say that like having a fated mate is a curse, " I said, shaking my head, then peered over at my fated one, who was now being tormented by Ryanne, "I can imagine a life without my Addie."
I ignored whatever Zyrah had to say next to save my poor mate from mother and Ryanne.
I walked over to where she stood to kiss her forehead, then turned to address Ryanne.
Ryanne was tall and leaned muscled, with pale skin and long copper curls that fell to her waist and had the fire dragon trademark, amber-colored eyes. Ryanne was the opposite of Zyrah in every way. She loved going to tea parties to talk about boys and loved makeup and helping homeless children in her spare time.
"Hello, sisters and mother. I want you all to meet my fated mate, Addelynn.
