The night went by slowly and Mira was restless the whole night.
She couldn't sleep at all since she kept thinking about that so-called announcement. The first thing she did in the was to return to Reid Mansion in order to confront her grandma and other family members. And also "Jane". Because for Jane she was a mistress was trying to steal her fiance. Because the whole industry and even the media knew about their relationship. Last Month whole media exploded with dating scandal of model Jane with the CEO of ReiMar Enterprises Zion Marston. Although Grandpa was furious about their relationship and didn't approved of their relationship but that doesn't Mira was going to be a scapegoat
for their relationship.
"Good Morning Miss Mira! Your grandma is waiting for you on the dining table," Butler informed her with a smile as he saw her walking towards the entrace door.
"Morning," Mira replied with a forced smile as she quickly made her way towards the dining room.
Her grandma was already seated at the dinner table, along with her stepmom and aunt Linda.
"You had the audacity to come here after what happened last night," Aunt Linda said harshly as she glared at Mira with fury in her eyes.
"Of course it's my home afterall," Mira
retorted. She was tired and angry herself. But right now wasn't the time to fight. She was going to stay calm.
"You are just like your mother. She did the same thing. Like mother like daughter," Aunt Linda said, shaking her head in disgust.
"Don't you dare to bring my mother in this mess," Mira pointed her finger at her. Her mother was her bottom line. She couldn't tolerate anyone insulting her mother.
"Enough!" grandma yelled at the both of them, slamming her palm on the table, causing the silverware to tremble and the crystal glasses to shake. Everyone became quiet as they waited for the old lady to speak. She then spoke calmly in a low and calm tone.
"Sit down and have a breakfast," She ordered in a cold voice, indicating that they should sit.
"Where is Jane?" Vincent call Jane to join us for breakfast," grandma ordered Butler to call Jane.
"Grand-ma--," Mira tried to speak but grandma interrupted her.
Shortly after Jane furiously stormed her way into the dining room. She looked extremely agitated and annoyed when her eyes landed on Mira sitting there.
"What is she doing here? Mom? grandma?" Jane asked, frowning her brows as she eyed Mira.
"Eat, Jane," grandma said as she motioned for Jane to sit down beside her. Jane didn't respond but instead stared at Mira.
"Regarding the matter you all are curious about. Mira and Zion marriage is going to held next week on Sunday. Start your preparations," grandmother stated calmly without any emotion showing on her face.
Jane's expression changed immediately as she looked at Mira.
"I can understand your frustrations Jane. But it is for your own good," Grandma replied, looking straight into Jane's eyes. She wiped her mouth with a napkin and ordered Vincent to bring coffee to the greenhouse. After grandma left the dining table Mira got up and started to leave the dining room but Jane stopped her by grabbing her wrist roughly.
"You're not leaving until we settle this," Jane said angrily, staring into Mira's brown eyes.
"I will not let you have Zion. He is only mine," Jane asserted.
"I don't care what he is to you Jane," Mira declared angrily, staring at Jane, who frowned in annoyance.
"Get away, I need to leave for office," Mira said with an angry expression on her face as she pushed past Jane and headed out towards the greenhouse. Greenhouse was the place her grandma adored the most, she spent most of her time gardening and taking care of her plants. Mira entered inside the greenhouse where she saw her grandma tending to a large pot filled with flowers.
Grandma was busy tending to the plant as she raised her head to see Mira standing in the greenhouse.
"Grandma we need to talk," Mira said, her hands clenched tightly into fists. Her heart was beating hard as she felt uneasy and scared.
"There is nothing to talk about. My decision is final," Grandma replied, returning her attention to the flowerpot again.
"Grandma try to understand," Mira said, coming closer to her.
"If you will not accept this marriage then resign from the company," Grandma said, not bothering to look at Mira. She knew how stubborn her granddaughter was. She was just like her mother, who could never give up even in the toughest situation. If she wanted something then she would fight till the end.
"I won't resign Grandma."
"Then start the wedding preparations. We don't have much time," Grandma told her sharply, still not turning around to look at Mira.
Mira took a deep breath and exhaled loudly before speaking softly. "As you wish."
With that she left the room, slamming the door behind her.
...
Mira sat on her chair as she stared intently at her computer screen. Everyone in the office was gossiping about their marriage. It had become a big topic among all of the staff and social media. Marinda who was her only friend in the company plopped in front of the screen to get her attention as she had been trying
to do so for over an hour.
"Are you okay?" Marinda asked worriedly, as she grabbed her cup of coffee and took a sip.
"Do I look like?" Mira asked bitterly, looking down at her computer screen.
"President Martson is furious today. No one dares to go inside his office. Some people has been fired today," Marinda said, sighing heavily.
"Miss Mira," Alaric, Zion's assistant called her. Looking up from her computer screen.
"Mr. Marston wants to see you in his office," His assistant said with a nervous look on his face.
"He is furious right now, be careful," Alaric advised her, giving her a worried look.
"Thanks," Mira replied in a gloomy spirit as she headed towards his office. She knocked twice before entering the room
"Come in," Zion said, without looking up from his laptop. Mira walked towards his desk after closing the door behind her, facing him directly.
"What can I do for you President Martson?" Mira asked, trying to keep calm. She could read his expressionless face. He must have gotten the new that she accepted the proposal.
"I heard you have accepted the proposal," Zion said calmly as he closed his laptop.
That was calmness before a storm. The kind of calmness that had a lot more undercurrents. His tone didn't seem too surprised, though. As if he had suspected.
Mira blinked, her brow furrowing and a confused frown crossing her face.
"Yes, I did." She paused, trying her best to stay composed. His tone didn't seem too surprised, though. As if he had suspected.
Mira blinked, her brow furrowing and a confused frown crossing her face. Closing his laptop abruptly, he stood up from his chair and moved towards her slowly. His step towards her echoed through the office. Her eyes followed his every step. She took a deep breath, keeping her cool.
"What are you- doing? she asked taking a step backwards but not taking her eyes off of him. She felt her back hit by the desk. Taking a few steps closer. He looked down at her, his hazel green eyes piercing hers.
"You know I don't like to be controlled," he said while placing his palms on the desk and leaned forward towards her, trapping her between him and the desk. He was the first man to ever come this close. Or to be exact first ever man whom she allowed this close.
