Chapter 15 - Making Memories ...

February 2005...

Meanwhile, After buying her lunch, Savannah went to the bench she saw Debbie seating in.

" Are you still worried about leaving?" Debbie asked once Savannah sat down.

"Yeah but, maybe leaving won't be so bad". Savannah said before taking a bite from the french fries.

" But what about Nathan?" Debbie asked before taking a sip from her water. Savannah didn't say anything for a while but kept looking at her food.

" I'll move on". Savannah blankly stated. If she was starting life afresh in a new town, maybe it's best to leave all her past memories behind.

There was silence for a while as the two of them ate their food.

Not long after, which signaled their queue to leave.

The two of them trashed the remains of their food as they talked about school work.

" At least you have done half of your homework, I haven't even started yet, I'm going to be in so much trouble with Mr -", Suddenly, Savannah bumped into someone,

"Williams". Savannah said as she looked up and saw Nathan.

"Oh sorry, I didn't see you there. Are you in Mr Williams class?" Nathan asked as the two of them looked at him.

" uummh yes, I am". Savannah said as she turned to look at Debbie, avoiding his eyes.

" Oh, okay, see you around". Nathan said as he walked past them.

" bye", Savannah said staring at him as he disappeared amongst the corridors.

" Savannah, this is the first time Nathan actually spoke to you". Debbie said excitedly.

* Sigh*

" What's wrong".

" This is the first time Nathan spoke to me, this is the first time he noticed me, but this all had to happen when I'm leaving. Just great". Savannah said while staring at the floor .

" You still have two weeks left to here, and I won't let you leave without spending quality time with me. Deal?" Debbie said as she stretched her hand out.

"Deal ", Savannah said as she shook Debbie's hand, " Oh shoot, we're supposed to be in class by now, Mr Williams would be so mad at me". Savannah said as she threw her head back in thought.

" Ugh, Mr Williams is so annoying, he punished me once just because I submitted my home work a day late". Debbie said as the two of them walked to their lockers.

" Well, I guess it's just me now, bye Debbie". Savannah said as Debbie grabbed her backpack and walked away.

After Debbie was gone from view, Savannah opened her locker and took out a few notebooks before heading to class.

...

Meanwhile...

Adam and his friends cheered to David's idea.

"Oh shit, I forgot to do the assignment, who here did the assignment", Adam said as Brian and David looked at each other puzzled, " That means it's only me who didn't do it, I'll get in trouble with him again this week".

"What homework are you talking about?" David asked Adam, confused.

" It's the assignment Mr Harris gave us on Thursday and told us it was due today". Adam said as he picked up his bag and brought a notebook and pen out of it.

" He gave us the weekend to do the assignment, how weren't you able to do it". Brian asked as he took a sip of water.

" I forgot, is it that hard to understand". Adam said as he hurriedly wrote on his notebook.

" Well, hope you can finish before class starts, you have only 15 minutes". Brian said as he ate his fries.

" If you can't stop distracting me, can you at least help me with it". Adam said as he dropped his pen and sat back on his seat.

" Okay fine, I'm not sure about the rest, but for question 5 you should add these two first before dividing by 2". Brian said pointing at Adam's notebook.

" Are you sure?"

" Yes , I used this method and searched the question up on google and it gave me the same answer".

" You guy's, I'm sorry to say but lunch time is over". David said as he stood up from his seat.

" Are you serious?" Adam said as he abruptly stood up from his seat.

" Yeah you can check if you want". David said as he showed Adam his watch.

" You can still get it done before class starts". Brian said as he stood up.

" You're right, I can still get it done during English class". Adam said as he packed up his books and put them in his bag.

The bell rang as the three friends talked on their way to class.

Meanwhile...

Amanda picked up the envelope from her drawer and looked at it with concern, this envelope was going to change a lot of things in their lives.

She opened the envelope and brought out the money inside. She counted it before placing it on the table.

No matter how cheap the apartment is, the money still wouldn't be enough for her to be able to stay there.

Suddenly, her phone rang which diverted her from her thoughts, she picked it up and saw that Trisha had sent her a text, it was the details for the apartment.

" Thanks Trisha". Amanda replied to Trisha's text. Maybe she might not have enough money now, but at least she'd have somewhere to stay.

Amanda rushed to her cupboard and opened it. She hurriedly looked through it until she saw an old purse, she opened it and saw a few dollars, if added together could be more than a thousand dollars.

Amanda had been saving up some money since Daniel's death. Every day since Daniel's death, Amanda saved up at least 5 dollars so one day in the future she could use them. Now that day has come and she can use the money.

Amanda counted the money and her face lit up. The money added up to 4,500 dollars. If she added the money with the money the company gave her, it would be more than enough for them to stay at the apartment. Amanda was so happy at the thought of having a fresh start in a new environment from all this.

She brought out the old trunk from under her bed and stared at it remembering all the memories attached to it. She opened the trunk and picked up and old and dusty photo from it. It was a photo of Daniel, Amanda, a small version of Adam and Savannah when she was still a few months. The photo was taken in the park a day before Savannah's first birthday.

Amanda stared at the photo for a while before taking another photo from the trunk, it was a photo of just Daniel, it was taken at the entrance of the house a week after Adam was born. These two photos meant so much to Amanda, they reminded of her of her late husband and her past memories, she hugged them tightly before placing them carefully back in the trunk...
