February 2005...
It's already been 10 years since Savannah's 3rd birthday and so many things have changed.
Savannah has grown taller and has long brown hair with beautiful brown eyes just like her mom while Adam has grown up and is now a handsome teenager with a muscular physique and a sharp jawline just like his dad.
As the years passed by, Adam has grown up to be a splitting image of his father and day by day continues to remind Amanda of her late husband.
...
" Adam, Savannah come downstairs you're gonna be late for school!" Amanda shouted while arranged the plates on the dinning table.
Moments later Savannah came downstairs fully dressed in a blue shirt with matching jeans.
" Good morning mom", she greeted before taking a seat.
" Hurry up and take your breakfast. Where's your brother now, he's always making us late", Amanda said while serving Savannah her breakfast.
" Quit worrying mom, besides, school starts by 8:00 and it's just 7:40". Savannah said before taking a bite of her pancake.
" That's what you say every morning yet we still get there late". Amanda said and moments later Adam came downstairs.
" Savannah's right mom we still have time before school starts", Adam said before hugging Amanda, " Good morning mom".
"Okay now hurry up and take your breakfast or we're going to be late", Amanda said before serving him a few pancakes.
" Don't worry mom, I'll take them in the car", Adam said as he took one of the pancakes and took a bite, " Come on, let's go". Adam said, still chewing the pancakes as the three of them made their way to the car.
Amanda dropped the two of them off at school and waved them goodbye before leaving. Since the two of them are in different grades , they both went to different classes.
Their school is designed in such a way that people in the 10th grade and above would stay upstairs while people in the 9th grade and below would stay downstairs which made it quite difficult for them to see each other at school.
Savannah went to her first class which was Chemistry and sat at her usual seat.
She brought out her pen and notebook from her bag and started to jot down important things the teacher says.
It didn't take long before the class ended and Savannah quickly packed her bag before going to her locker to pick up some books.
Savannah watched as all the students whispered and chatted amongst themselves as they passed her in the hallways.
That's how her life has always been. She has always been seen as invisible and never involved with anyone.
This all started 5 years ago in the third grade during lunchtime. Savannah was walking to her table after buying her lunch. Everything was fine until she slipped and all her hot chocolate spilled all over Denise's dress.
Everyone gasped as Savannah tried to wipe of the huge stain on Denise's dress.
" I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to_ "
" Just get away from me", Denise said as she pushed Savannah, " Look what you've done, do you know how expensive this dress is". Denise said trying to wipe the stain off her dress.
" How could she, when she can't afford to buy it". Alexis, one of Denise's friends said and the two of them laughed, soon , the entire canteen started laughing and people started calling her names like ' poor girl' or ' loser.
Savannah got so upset by their taunts that she dropped her food and left the canteen to some empty classroom .
She sat down on the floor and cried, there she net Debbie, Debbie was one of her classmates but the two of them rarely talked.
" I'm sorry for what they told you in the canteen, I don't think you're a loser or a poor girl".
" How would you know that, you barely know me" Savannah said wiped her tears.
" I don't need to know you to tell that you didn't deserve what those girls told you".
Savannah didn't say anything but just hugged Debbie.
" And what is that for".
" It's for you being there when I needed you the most" Savannah said as the two of them hugged each other and since that day, the two of them have been the best of friends.
" Hey, we're gonna be late for class". Savannah felt a light tap on her shoulder and turned around to see Debbie.
" Oh sorry I lost track of time".
" Don't worry, we better get going or else Mr Harris won't be happy with us".
Debbie and Savannah have been really close since childhood and the two of them know themselves very well but even after all this, Savannah still felt alone.
After class was lunch time so Savannah and Debbie dropped their books in their locker before going to the canteen.
The both of them bought their food and sat in their usual seat.
While eating, Debbie noticed Savannah staring at a boy seated a few seats in front of them.
"Hey, what's wrong".
" Nothing".
" Really, if that is so then why do you keep staring at Nathan", Savannah didn't reply but instead continued eating her food, " look, we've been friends for years, it's not good to keep secrets in a friendship. You know you can tell me anything".
"It's nothing, really". Savannah said avoiding Debbie's eyes.
"Look me in the eye and tell me you don't have a crush on Nathan".
Savannah looked up at Debbie, confused," Wait, how did you find out".
" You think it's not obvious ".
" Wait, it is? How many people know?"
" Hehehe, I'm just messing with you, no one knows, actually I just figured ", Debbie giggled.
"Stop it, your jokes aren't funny", Savannah frowned.
" Okay fine, lunch time is almost over so finish your food quickly". Debbie said as the two of them continued eating their food. Soon enough, the bell rang which marked the end of lunch.
Both Savannah and Debbie cleared their trays before leaving the hall.
School flew past like the breeze and soon enough it was the end of the school day.
