"Hello Hailey Bieber."Jeremy whispered mockingly as Hailey sat down.
"It's a bright new day, don't spoil it."
"What? You say I'm a killjoy?"
"Worse." she said and they laughed.
Ellie came in and Hailey waved at her, she waved back and smiled. Hailey turned to meet Jeremy facing her with a questioning look.
"What?" she asked.
"What do you mean what? For God's sake, I just saw a bright smile on ELLIE FORD'S face and it was for you." Jeremy spelled out.
"I told you we are neighbors, didn't I?"
"So you weren't neighbors when she gave you a cold attitude?"
"Ok fine, I...I went to see her yesterday and we talked about her sister, and I think she's getting better considering the fact that she told me she won't come to school, but here she is." she took a deep breath. "Happy now?"
"No, why did I have to force it out before you tell me?"
"It was.... I'm sorry. I just didn't think, well I'm sorry."
"It's fine, I get it... girls stuff." Jeremy said and smiled.
Just then a teacher walked in.
"We all are writing a test, uhmm, except Miss. Hailey Stones."
"Sir I can take the test." Hailey said confidently.
"Yeah, she's one intelligent nerd Sir." Tyler chipped in from the back.
"If you utter another insensible sentence Tyler...." the teacher warned, turning to Hailey he shrugged, " If you say so."
As they were writing the test, Hailey looked to see Ellie and her eye caught Natasha who was peeking from a piece of paper. She was still looking when their eyes met and Natasha mouthed " what?", looking intimidatingly at her. Well, Hailey didn't want to cause a stir and focused on what she was writing. She wondered why she was engaging in malpractice at such small easy test.
"Hey, are you done?." That was what Hailey heard and it wasn't Jeremy, it was someone at her back. It was Henry, the hot Henry!!!! Why was he asking her? Does he want to help her or vice versa?
"Hailey?" Henry whispered bringing her back from her thoughts.
"Yeah... yeah... I'm....I'm almost done." Hailey whispered back nodding her head.
"Okay then." Henry said and went to submit. That was when Hailey confirmed that he wanted to help.
Hailey was in the cafeteria with Jeremy when she brought up Henry.
"Do you think Henry is crushing on me?" Hailey asked Jeremy, which made him to drop his fork and have a good laugh. "What?" she asked clearly annoyed.
"whoa..whoa, hold on. Why would you think Henry is crushing on you?" Jeremy asked trying to contain his laughter.
"He...umm, he asked me if I needed help during the test and I saw a slight smile on his face that was...." she paused. She wasn't sure how to describe the smile. Was she getting ahead of herself? She just sighed and started eating.
"Look Hailey." Jeremy took a deep breath, trying to compose what to say . "I'm not laughing because I think low of you, it's just that Henry is a kind soul. I mean.... that is how he is, you're a new student and he just wanted to be sure you're not struggling despite your decision to write the test." Jeremy stopped and held Hailey's hand across the table. "I've known Henry since kindergarten and he doesn't even date, there was a time we all thought he was gay." Jeremy said and gave a weird short laugh.
"I understand Jeremy, I was just.....carried away, something like that."
"Are you crushing on Henry then?." Jeremy asked eyeing her.
"Who wouldn't? But, I mean he's hot and rich.... but that's not all right?"
"Yeah, tho you sound like a hopeless romantic." he said and they burst out laughing.
Hailey didn't know she'll feel so comfortable around someone like this. Jeremy was a definition of warmth and free spirit, and for that she counted herself lucky.
After school, the teacher they wrote his test called in Hailey while Jeremy waited for her.
"Please sit, Miss Hailey." he said and Hailey sat down. "The test you wrote today was outstanding, I couldn't help but call you in to tell you I can be of help if you need to know about any college you want to apply." " I know you still have a year left but I can coach you till then.....you know, sharpen your edges."
"Thank you Sir. I... I haven't actually decided on college yet, but I'll let you know if I need any help. Thanks."
"Okay, that's all. You can go now."
Hailey looked down the hallway and saw Jeremy waiting, she started walking towards him but just then someone was blocking her, not someone, some people. Black shoes, denim skirt, pink top. Natasha and co!!!! She looked up to them and said "excuse me."
"You're going nowhere, did you go to spill my beans in that office?" Natasha's voice rang.
" What are you talking about?" Hailey asked and Natasha scoffed.
"What do you mean? You saw something during the test, didn't you? Chloe asked while Natasha grabbed her hair.
"What the hell is going on here?" It was Jeremy.
"Stay out of this, we have something to talk about?"
"You're not talking, all I can see is your hand on her hair."
"Why are you so concerned? I said stay out of this."
"She's my friend and I'll appreciate you let her go before you regret this."
"Friend?" Natasha scoffed. " Or is she your lil new cover up huh?"
Jeremy lost it and made his way to hit her but his hand was caught midair. It was Ivan.
"Natasha let her go." Ivan said in a smooth calm voice.
Natasha murmured grumpily and let go.
"I didn't report you, I was called. To think you'd be this shameless." Hailey said confidently.
"What report? Hailey?" Jeremy asked.
"She saw her cheating during the test and Natasha thought she went to report." Ivan replied to Hailey's surprise.
"Wait, you knew?" Hailey asked him.
"What test?" It was the teacher who talked and everyone froze. The teacher came down to look for Hailey because she forgot her keys and joined in on the ongoing conversation.
