Ivan knew Natasha made sense, but then who could've posted it.
He told Hailey about what Natasha said.
"Oh, there's another person. Seems like I walked into a deadly trap when I started talking to you."
"I have to find out who did it, unless it'll continue."
"They might be too many. You never know." she laughed.
Ellie came to see Hailey. "What was Ivan saying?"
Hailey told her everything Ivan told her.
"I don't believe Natasha, but it makes sense though." Ellie swiftly swept the classroom with her eyes.
"Whatever."
"I'll help Ivan to find her."
"It might be a he."
"Negative." Ellie shook her head.
"It could be. Even Natasha turned out negative."
"I don't expect you to find out who it was. As your friend, it's my job," she hit her chest. "And for the record, Natasha is cunning, so she's still on my positive list." She made a face and heard a short laugh. It wasn't Hailey.
"Henry? Did I say anything funny?"
"Yeah. Your face was funny too." he smiled.
"I doubt that. But why were you eavesdropping on our conversation?"
"I wasn't. I just heard it, because you are right in front of me. Hailey is my friend too, and I want to find who posted it." Hailey coughed immediately she heard her name and Ellie just nodded.
Hailey's mind kept going back and forth on what Henry said. Was he interested in her? He wanted to help her during test, stood up for her against Tyler and told Ellie he wanted to find who posted the video too. No it can't be. I have to ask him. Before Hailey could gather courage to ask any questions, their teacher entered the class. She wasn't paying full attention until she heard Jeremy's name.
"Jeremy Kitcher got involved in a car accident on his way to school yesterday. He's currently under coma in Grand hospital. Do well to pray for his quick recovery."
"No." Hailey suddenly said standing up.
"Miss. Stones? Any problem?" he looked at her and she slowly shook her head. She sat down.
Hailey kept spacing out in class. She managed to hold out till school was over. She kept mumbling prayers for Jeremy's survival. She couldn't afford to think about anything bad happening to him.
She went to the hospital straight from school with Ellie. Henry and few others also came by. Hailey's eyes were filled with tears. He was her best friend, and the thought of loosing him choked her. She convinced herself to be optimistic and prayed.
"You must be close to Jeremy." Mrs. Kitcher pointed, seeing how she still stayed after others has gone.
"Yes ma'am."
"What is your name dear?"
"Hailey. Hailey Stones."
"Oh. You must be the new girl he told me about." she smiled. "Thank you for being his friend, he's never been this close to anyone."
"Why?" Hailey wondered why he wouldn't have friends. He has money.
"Well, he isn't that social and his former friends say he's nosy and stuff_ like clingy. That doesn't mean he can't communicate, but you know someone to share things with. Never thought it'd be a girl."
"I mean he is sort of clingy, but I don't it's disapproving. That is how he cares, and he's super warm. He made school so comfortable than any school I've ever attended." she smiled.
"That's it. You understand him and will be one of the few people to ever do. I should have taken him to school, this wouldn't have happened." tears filled her eyes. "I'm sorry. I'm being too emotional."
"He has a good heart. He would survive." Hailey said holding Jeremy's hand.
Ivan thought of what to do. After seeing how miserable Hailey looked at the hospital, he didn't want anything else to bug her. He decided to oppose the post, like Natasha said.
He made a statement on the website: ' Hello y'all this is Ivan McAndy. There is an edited video about Hailey and I that everyone has seen, and I wish to make something clear. Hailey and I are just friends, that is why whoever posted this is just being mean to a new student. She is not hitting on me, we just had conversations. Thanks.'
The counter post had an effect. It totally changed the situation. Ivan didn't think he could find the perpetrator, but then.
"How did you know she wasn't hitting on you?" Ivan heard someone say. She smelled nice, and seeing how expensive the shoes were as he brought up his head, he knew it could only be Madison.
"She wasn't." he said with a tone that told her to leave so he could rest, but she didn't budge.
"And she's your friend? A new student?" now her voice was a bit harsh.
Ivan stared at her for some moments, preparing what to say. "Why would you post something like that? Do you think that would be the best way to gain my attention?"
"How did you know?" Madison was taken aback.
"I didn't. You made it obvious."
"I'm... I mean I thought that was her plan."
"So?" Ivan stared at her. "Why did you do it then, when it was just a thought?"
"I'm sorry."
"I'm not the victim. You know who to say that to, unless you want to do it publicly. I need to rest."
Madison wanted to say something, but Ivan head was already perfectly on the desk. It was end of discussion and she knew. Ivan barely talk to anyone that long except Henry. She was in love with him, and she wouldn't let just anyone, especially Hailey to be around him.
"Sorry."
"What?" Hailey was confused. Why was Madison Courie saying sorry to her.
"About the post. I'm apologizing because Ivan asked me to, not because I'm wrong."
Hailey just stared at her in disbelief. She doesn't care about the post anymore, so she shouldn't care about her.
"You think you are not wrong. Are you for real or are you just plain stupid? Ivan asked you to apologize because you did something wrong." Henry spoke up and walked past her.
