Rose looked at him with concern, sensing the gravity of the situation. "What is it?" she asked softly.
"It's about Grace," Nathaniel said, his eyes flickering with emotion. "I'm like her, Rose. I can't stop thinking about her, and I don't know what to do."
First, it was as if a bullet whizzed pass her ears, then his voice kept replaying in her head. Rose's heart stopped for a moment, the weight of Nathaniel's confession too much for her to handle. She felt a sharp pain in her chest, and tears stung her eyes. She tried to compose herself, but the emotions were too overwhelming. Somewhere in her heart she had always suspected that Nathaniel had feelings for Grace, but it was nothing more than a mere assumption, she had always thought it's just friendship.
She looked at Nathaniel, searching for the right words to say, but nothing came to mind. Nathaniel noticed her discomfort and asked if she was okay; she nods, but her voice caught in her throat.
