Chapter 13 - Uncomfortable

As Kamilia sat nervously in front of him at a luxurious and prestigious restaurant, she couldn't help but feel an overwhelming sense of fear and self-consciousness. Despite the maid's reassurance that she looked stunning in the beautiful blue dress she had provided, Kamilia couldn't shake off her feelings of inadequacy and unworthiness.

The dress was exquisite, with intricate details and delicate embroidery that accentuated Kamilia's curves and made her feel like a princess. The high heels she wore, however, were a different story. They were beautiful, yes, but also painfully uncomfortable and difficult to walk in.

Kamilia felt like a fish out of water, out of her element and surrounded by people who belonged in this high-society world more than she ever could.

Iyad, adorned in a sleek and suave tuxedo, exuded an aura of sophistication and refinement. His striking golden locks cascaded down his forehead, perfectly complementing the depth and allure of his dark, penetrating eyes. With his confident stride and impeccable demeanor, he commanded the attention and admiration of everyone in the room.

Kamilia couldn't help but steal glances at him between examining the luxurious décor of the restaurant.

The room they were in was opulent and lavish, with ornate chandeliers hanging from the high ceiling and soft lighting creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

The walls were adorned with intricate wallpaper, and large windows allowed natural light to filter in, showcasing the stunning views of the city outside.

The tables were elegantly set with crisp white tablecloths, polished silverware, and sparkling crystal glasses. Plush chairs with velvet upholstery provided comfort and sophistication, and fresh flowers in beautiful vases adorned each table.

The ambiance was serene and refined, making it clear that this was a place for the affluent and discerning. Kamilia couldn't help but feel a sense of awe and trepidation in such a grand setting.

Her nerves got the best of her, rendering her mute, and she simply looked around in awe. It was the first time in her entire life that she had entered a place like this. As she marveled at the opulence surrounding her, Iyad interrupted her thoughts with a firm question, "What do you want to eat, Kamilia?"

Before she could answer, the waitress arrived and couldn't help but gaze at Iyad with admiration as she handed Kamilia the menu. Despite feeling intimidated and out of place, Kamilia knew she had to make a decision.

She took a deep breath and began perusing the menu, silently praying that she wouldn't embarrass herself further in front of Iyad.

Kamilia felt overwhelmed as she scanned the foreign menu in front of her, filled with dishes she had never heard of before.

The names were as unfamiliar to her as the expensive decor of the restaurant they were in. She couldn't even bring herself to look up, feeling out of place and inadequate.

As Iyad confidently perused the menu, Kamilia couldn't help but feel a twinge of envy at his ease and sophistication. Finally, he broke the silence with a decisive tone, "What do you want to eat?"

Without any knowledge of what to choose, Kamilia quietly murmured, "I'll take what you take."

As the waitress approached their table, Kamilia noticed the way she leaned forward, her voice dripping with artificial sweetness, as she tried to catch Iyad's attention. It made her feel uneasy, almost like an intruder in a space she didn't belong. Meanwhile, Iyad remained unfazed, his gaze locked onto Kamilia.

Without batting an eye, Iyad handed the menu over to the waitress, a small smile playing on his lips. "I'll take the steak," he said, his voice confident and clear. Kamilia couldn't help but admire his self-assured demeanor, the way he seemed completely at ease in this upscale environment.

She found herself feeling both intimidated and strangely drawn to him, caught in the tension between her discomfort and her curiosity.

As the waitress left to fetch their food, Kamilia couldn't bear the uneasy silence any longer. She mustered up the courage to speak, hoping to ease the tension. "Iyad, this place is absolutely stunning," she said, gazing around at the lavish decor.

Iyad looked at her with a slight smirk, "Clearly, it is your first time in a place like this," he observed.

Feeling even more self-conscious now, Kamilia blushed profusely, unable to meet his gaze. However, Iyad quickly interjected, "This is my restaurant, actually. I have a few throughout the country."

Kamilia nodded her head then stopped talking , she just felt too small to even talk to him anymore .

He gazed at her for a long time but he didn't say another thing ..

A few minutes later the waitress comes with the plates .As the waitress placed their plates in front of them, Kamilia's heart was pounding with anxiety. When she finally gathered the courage to look at her plate, her eyes widened in horror.

The steak was Half-coocked , with blood oozing out from its center. She couldn't imagine eating something like that, and her stomach churned at the mere thought of it.

She tried to look composed in front of Iyad, but her hands were trembling under the table. She couldn't bear the thought of disappointing him by not eating what he ordered. But at the same time, she couldn't bring herself to eat something that made her feel so uneasy.

Kamilia mustered up the courage to hold the knife and fork, leaning forward to cut into the steak. But as she attempted to take a bite, she couldn't bring herself to look at the meat on her plate.

Her eyes welled up with tears, and she felt a lump forming in her throat. She struggled to keep her emotions at bay, but eventually, a tear rolled down her cheek, and she couldn't hold back any longer.

Her hands began to shake, and she placed the utensils back on the table, unable to continue. The restaurant's elegant and luxurious atmosphere that had earlier fascinated her now seemed suffocating.

The tears streamed down her face, and she could feel the humiliation creeping in as she sat there, unable to eat or look at the food in front of her.

Iyad noticed the sudden change in her demeanor and leaned forward, "Kamilia, is something wrong? Did you not like the food?"

She shook her head, too ashamed to speak. He looked at her with a concerned expression, "Please tell me, what's going on?"

Kamilia wiped her tears with a napkin, "I'm sorry, I just can't eat this".

Iyad's face twisted into a scowl as he watched Kamilia force herself to eat the undercooked steak. He couldn't bear to see her discomfort any longer and abruptly spoke up, "Fine...just stop. Don't eat what you don't like. Shit...I am not forcing you to do anything here."
