Chapter 7 - Never be free of me

Kamila felt her heart racing as Iyad broached the subject again. She had been dreading this moment, and now it was here. She held her breath, anticipating the worst. Would he hit her? Would he scream at her?

But all that he did at that moment was push her away from him, as if she had a disease in her body. Then he turned on his heel and stormed out of the room. Kamila was left alone, feeling as though she had been punched in the stomach. What just happened? This is not right. I feel like I'm suffocating, she thought.

She sat down on the bed and tried to collect her thoughts. However, she just couldn't think of any possible explanation for his actions.

Had she done something wrong? Did he hate her that much? She felt so confused and hurt. Why was he treating her like this?

Kamila's mind was a jumbled mess, and her heart felt heavy in her chest. She tried to take deep breaths to calm herself down, but it felt like she couldn't get enough air. She couldn't help but feel that Iyad's behavior was unjustified and cruel.

The way he pushed her away was so cold, so callous. It was as if he had no feelings for her at all.

As Kamila sat there, trying to make sense of what had just happened, she realized that she was shaking. She hugged herself tightly, feeling vulnerable and exposed. She didn't know what to do or where to turn. All she knew was that she had to get out of there, away from Iyad.

Kamila got up and walked to the door, her legs feeling weak and unsteady. She opened it slowly and peeked outside. Iyad was nowhere in sight.

She hesitated for a moment before stepping out into the hallway, her heart pounding in her chest. She felt like a prisoner trying to escape from a jail cell.

As she walked down the hallway, she realized that she had to get out of that house, away from Iyad, and start a new life.

She couldn't stay there any longer, not after the way he had treated her. She deserved better than this, and she was determined to find it.

Kamilia's heart was beating wildly as she raced down the stairs, her mind racing with fear and adrenaline. She knew that she had to get out of the house and away from Iyad before he had the chance to stop her.

Every step was a struggle, her legs shaking with each stride as she desperately tried to keep her composure.

The house seemed to stretch on for miles, its many rooms and winding hallways causing Kamilia to feel lost and disoriented. Every turn she took seemed to lead her down a new path, and she began to fear that she would never find her way out.

But then, she saw it - a glimmer of light coming from a distant door. Her heart soared with hope as she ran towards it, her breath coming in short gasps as she pushed herself to go faster. And finally, she burst through the door into the bright sunshine outside.

The fresh air hit her like a wave, filling her lungs with sweet relief and washing away the heavy fear that had been holding her back. She felt free for the first time in what felt like years, her heart soaring with the promise of a new beginning.

Kamilia froze at the sound of his voice, her hand hovering over the doorknob. She turned to face Iyad, her heart racing in her chest, unsure of what to say. The fear and panic were visible on her face, and her mind raced as she tried to come up with an answer that wouldn't upset him.

"I...I just needed some air," she stuttered, her voice barely above a whisper. "I couldn't sleep and I thought some fresh air might help."

Iyad's gaze bore into hers, his eyes searching for any sign of deception. Kamilia held her breath, waiting for his response. For a moment, they stood there in silence, the tension between them palpable.

Finally, Iyad let out a deep sigh and shook his head. "You know you're not allowed to leave the house without my permission," he said, his voice firm but not unkind.

"I have to go back to work and to my apartment," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "I can't stay here forever."

Iyad's face twisted with rage as he took a step towards her. "To work as a whore?" he spat, his voice echoing off the walls. "Is that what you want?"

Kamilia shook her head, tears pricking at the corners of her eyes. "No, Iyad, that's not what I want. I just want my life back. Please, let me go."

Kamilia felt a chill run down her spine as she heard those words. The accusation was so absurd, yet she knew that it was pointless to argue with him. It was clear that he had made up his mind and nothing she could say would change that.

" your life, i don't care " he stated

Iyad's cold, callous words hit Kamilia like a ton of bricks. She couldn't believe that the person she thought she knew was capable of such cruelty. She looked at him with disbelief, wondering how she could have been so blind.

"What do you mean, you don't care?" Kamilia asked, her voice shaking with emotion.

Kamilia stood there, her heart pounding as she looked at Iyad. His eyes burned with anger and hatred, and she couldn't help but feel a sense of dread wash over her.

"Clearly you don't understand your situation," he said, his voice laced with venom. "You are not here to play family with me. You are here to pay for what you did."

Kamilia couldn't believe what she was hearing. She had done nothing wrong, and yet she was being punished for something she didn't do. She opened her mouth to speak, to plead with him, but no words came out.

Iyad continued, his voice rising with each passing second. "My mother is dead, and there is no way you could change that. Therefore, I am going to take my revenge from you in the worst way possible. You will pay for your sins, Kamilia."

Tears welled up in Kamilia's eyes as she listened to him. She had never seen him like this, so full of anger and hate. She didn't know what to do or say. All she could do was stand there and take the verbal abuse.

"I hope you understand that you will never be free from me," he added, his eyes piercing hers. "You will stay here and suffer for the rest of your life. That is your punishment."
