Chapter 13 - The Trade With Super Soldier Blain

Lucifer's snapped open.

The first thing he saw was a roughly pained white ceiling. Obviously slightly disoriented, he squinted his eye to get used to the rays coming from the large-sized window.

It wasn't after five minutes had passed did he come to.

He frowned slightly, recalling what had happened the previous night. Hurriedly checking his right arm, his entire body along with his right arm was wrapped up in bandages. But he was slightly surprised seeing his right arm moving.

He had thought he might become a one-armed cripple. Thinking about this, it was a fair price to pay for evolution.

"He-ehn!"

Just as Lucifer was soaking in in his thought, a coughing sound not too far away interrupted him, jolting him from out of his thinking.

A bit startled, he faced towards his left. In a chair near the entrance of the room was a rugged man seated crossed-legged with a cover magazine in his hands.

"You are finally awake, good!"

Lucifer didn't have to think too much about it to know who this man was. Blain, one of the super soldiers within the base and also an instructor to the recruits.

Staying within the base wasn't free, one would have to pay for whatever services they could provide to stay in this base. Lucifer had joined the recruitment service of the base and the service he was to provide was fighting the occasional beast wave, like a sort of cannon fodder.

But Lucifer wasn't spotted that night. It wasn't strange knowing his cowardly behavior.

Lucifer's eyes flashed thinking about this. He immediately stood up to explain but was suddenly stopped by Blain's next sentence.

"How do you feel?"

Lucifer's expression was strange. Didn't this man come here to reprimand him or expel him from the base?

His brows knitted together but he nodded his head and replied. "Last night, I was gravely injured but now I feel fine."

It was the truth, Lucifer really felt fine which was strange considering the amount of damage he had taken the night before.

"That's good. It means the serum I gave you worked."

This time, Lucifer's eyebrows shot upwards. What were serums? Serums are the accumulation of genes compressed and transformed into liquid form. There is various type of genetic serums out there. Lucifer hadn't even thought about seeing one. Never in his life would he think he would consume one.

Questions bombarded his mind as he tried to look for the angle this man wanted. In a place like this, Lucifer was experienced enough to know that no one would show any form of kindness without an ulterior motive.

He didn't need to think too much about it as Blain's next word confirmed it.

"Since I personally went out of my way to heal you using a serum I left for myself, it is safe to assume the level-3 wolf corpse is now mine, right?"

Lucifer's body turned rigid and his eyes widened. He had almost died at the hands of the Vile Wolf, but he was lucky enough to kill the beast. Giving up such an opportunity to earn more evolution points made Lucifer's eyes redden.

"Wait, it was level 3?" His hoarse voice asked, puzzled. How come the beast was a level 3 when it was only a level one before it consumed the shriveled finger? Was the finger actually that powerful?

Blain shook his head slightly. "You didn't even know the level of the beast,

I wonder how you were able to kill such a beast at your level? You aren't even a level one Genetic Soldier yet!"

"I guess I was lucky." Lucifer didn't speak much about it and only shrugged.

Blain closed the magazine in his hands and stood up, his eyes flickering as he stared at Lucifer with scrutiny. This little boy obviously has some sort of secret. To be able to kill a Level three beast and only receive this slight injury.

Luckily, he was the one who received notice about this and got to keep the corpse of the level-3 wolf. Osborn was currently increasing his evolution progress from the level-3 alpha wolf he had killed earlier. If he had been the one informed, then he would immediately have had the chance to evolve to level three in one fell swoop!

Blain wouldn't want to see that.

"60-30!"

"What?"

"60 percent of the meat to you, 40 percent to me," Lucifer repeated with gritted teeth.

Blain's eyes flashed coldly and he stared at Lucifer indifferently. It was as though he was saying I could just kill you here and end the trouble now.

"80, 20." Blain suddenly spoke.

Lucifer's face turned red and then purple and then black. Only after a while did he nod his head in reluctance. "Deal."

"The meat will be sent to your place this night. Remember to keep this between us and by the way, you slept for three days straight." With that Blain left the medical room without looking back.

Lucifer's remained dark. It was only after an hour did he recover. He has no idea how much a level-3 meat costs but it cost a fortune, especially meat that was as big as the Vile Wolf. One could extract more evolution potential from the massive meat than one could from a small level-3 beast.

His eyes flashed as his brain worked. With the amount of money he was owing in the real world he could sell the meat and pay his debt and would still be left with quite a massive amount of money.

However, Lucifer dismissed the idea almost immediately. His aim was to cure his illness first and then he could find other means to settle his debt.

Recalling the [Golden Cell] gene ability he gained, Lucifer's face recovered back to its original color as an idea popped into his head. Even the level-3 vile wolf couldn't cut through his skin, which meant he was impenetrable to beasts lower than level-4!

As long as said beast doesn't have the force to break his bones, he could now hunt in the wilderness for more beasts and gain evolution points, finally undergoing his first evolution.
