"Lucifer Dawn, Oliver Deck, Violet Pawn and Michael Bruce weren't present nor were they active in the battle to defend the base from the beasts intrusion. We are here to discuss their punishments."
Hearing the base master's voice, the four people including Lucifer lowered their heads. The three lowered their heads in shame, but Luci lowered his to think of an excuse to escape this predicament since the main reason couldn't be stated.
Lucifer had planned that if push ckes to shove, he was going to tell them he had been attacked by a beast but now that Blain was here, that excuse couldn't be used any longer.
This problem was beginning to give Lucifer a headache. And the most thing he loathes doing the most was 'overthinking'. The day he learnt about his cancer, that had been the most disastrous day of his entire life! Lucifer spent more than nine months mopping, thinking and worrying before finally giving in.
Now thinking just makes his head pound hard which was why he hates doing so. Only at the verge of death would his true emotions resurface.
The Base master stared at the bruises on Luci's face for a second before removing her gaze to stare at the three Super soldiers.
Super soldier Lana was the first to speak. Her brows were furrowed as she stared at the four cowardly recruits. "I say we toss them out of the Base to fend for themselves."
The two other Super soldiers nodded their heads in response.
Immediately this words were heard, the faces of the four recruits turned pale. Tossing them out from the base was no different to sentencing them to their deaths!
One of the recruits Oliver Deck immediately dropped to the ground begging and crying! "No! No! No! Please! D-don't kick me out! I wasn't aware there was a battle, I promise!"
"Lies!"
Super Soldier Lana snorted. "No matter where you were, as long as you were within the base, the heat of the battle would have surely notified you! Since you can't risk your life for the base, the base no longer have use for you."
She was one who hated cowards that are unreliable when it comes to it. How seeing four people who fled from battle before her made her absolutely disgusted.
Oliver's words got stucked in his throat as he had no excuse to give. That excuse was just too dumb.
"Do you three have any excuse to give?" Osborn stroked his brown beard carefully, staring at the four students standing before them with squinted eyes.
Looking at those eyes, Lucifer's heart shook and his alarms tingles. He knew in his heart that apart from the old woman, Captain Osborn was probably the most powerful of the people gathered here.
Lucifer shook his head slightly, indicating he had no excuse to give. From the looks of it, no matter the excuse they gave, none of them would escape punishment from the Base.
Except for the sobbing sounds coming from Oliver, the cabin turned silent as they waited for The Base Master's verdict.
Lucifer's hands where clenched tightly in his pockets indicating how nervous he was which was in contrast to the calm expression on his face.
"According to the rules and the agreement made, you four will have your entry tag revoked and you will be expelled from the base, never to set foot here again or in any other base within a 1000 mile radius for that matter."
This time, even Lucifer's face turned pale. If they were in doubt that she was sentencing them to death, this statement was the assurance they needed.
Within the wilderness, there were various Military Outpost and bases stationed in various places of the wilderness. Being expelled from one base meant one would have to cross the wilderness to change Bases as the wilderness was just too dangerous to live in.
Therefore, one would have to cross at least 10 miles to get to the another base nearby. Even the thought of going through the dangerous, mutabeast infested forest and wasteland would give anyone shivers!
Unless one was a Transcendant, it was totally there was no guarantee one wouldn't die at the hands of some monster. Several dozen kilometers from the base was an enormous wilderness with all types of sly, merciless, and strange creatures. Mutated people, living corpses, bandits, and all types of organizations with unclear intentions were illegally occupying this area. It was just like a labyrinth. It was an incredibly scary and dangerous world.
"You are putting us out there to die. There's no way we would be able to survive one mile out their, not to mention a thousand miles." Michael who had been silent through out practically growled.
Violet, the only woman there immediately started sobbing loudly as the strong facade she was putting in previously crumbled like clay. She didn't want to die! Neither did anyone of them.
The Base master's gaze turned cold. Instantly, the sobbing recruits turned quiet. "If you had memorized the rules of the base by heart, you would know desertation is punishable by banishment. But..."
There was a but! Hearing this, hope appeared in the eyes of the four recruites.
She slid the glasses off her face and massaged her forehead lightly in worry. "After fending off the beast wave, the base has suffered 70 percent decrease in its recruits. And most of our talented individuals are also dead. If still decide to chase you kids out of the base, it wpuodnr bide too well of the base since I have to think about its welfare."
She sighed as she leaned backwards to her seat. Most of the talented kids died by the jaws of the vike wolves that had somehow managed to sneak in, which was a slap in the face to her. Now, with the reduction in the recruits, she couldn't bare to chase four more of them to their deaths. But she also can not possibly let them free without some sort of punishment.
