Chapter 38 - The healing process

As Eva slowly regained consciousness, she was struck by the suffocating heat that surrounded her. The once-bright sky was now darkened, and the air felt thick and heavy. Struggling to move, she tried to look around but found nothing in sight.

With a great effort, she managed to prop herself up onto her elbows, scanning the area for any signs of her companions.

But to her despair, there was no one there. Panic began to rise inside of her, and she started to call out for her brother, but her voice came out weak and hoarse.

Her body was wracked with pain, and as she tried to stand up, she crumpled back to the ground immediately. Her leg was broken, and she could feel the searing pain shoot through her arm.

She gasped as she realized that she had taken quite a beating. The physical pain was one thing, but the emotional trauma of being attacked by her own people was too much to bear.

Tears streamed down her face as she lay there, helpless and alone in the scorching desert. The fear of dying there without any help was overpowering. The pain in her chest only added to the already unbearable situation.

Eva's body was trembling with pain and fear as she lay on the scorching ground. She felt utterly helpless, unable to heal her own body despite being a skilled healer.

She sobbed uncontrollably, feeling like everything was working against her, and every breath she took was like a sharp knife piercing her chest.

As she lay there, she noticed a faint light flickering in the distance. Her eyes widened with hope and desperation, and she immediately started crawling towards it, ignoring the excruciating pain. The light seemed fixated, not moving like a beacon guiding her towards it.

Eva's heart raced with anticipation as she crawled closer and closer to the light, not knowing what she would find. The heat of the desert was unbearable, and every inch she crawled was a battle against the pain and exhaustion.

Finally, after what felt like an eternity, she reached the light.

As Eva reached the farm in the middle of the desert, tears streamed down her face like a river. The colors there were unlike anything she had ever seen before.

Even though it was night, the hues were completely vivid and alive, as if the darkness itself couldn't hold back the beauty of the place.

The farm was illuminated by dozens of lanterns, casting a warm and welcoming glow across the area. Eva could see a small house in the distance, with smoke rising from the chimney. She felt her heart fill with hope, finally seeing a sign of life in this desolate place.

She crawled towards the door, her broken body aching with every movement. As she got closer, she could hear the sound of voices coming from inside. Her heart leaped with joy and relief, knowing that she was no longer alone in this harsh and unforgiving land.

As she reached the doorstep, she raised her hand to knock but found that she couldn't even lift it. Instead, she called out weakly, hoping that someone inside would hear her. Her voice was barely audible, but she could hear footsteps approaching from inside.

As she fell inside, Eva barely registered the sound of the door closing behind her. Her body was wracked with pain and exhaustion, and all she could do was focus on breathing.

Suddenly, she heard a familiar voice calling her name, but she couldn't bring herself to lift her head or open her eyes. The voice was getting closer, and she felt someone's hands on her, lifting her up.

"Eva, Eva, what the fuck? What are you doing here?" The voice belonged to Xylon, her brother, and the concern in his tone made her feel a twinge of guilt. She had put herself in danger, and now she was a burden on him.

She tried to speak, to explain what had happened, but her throat was too dry, and her body was too weak. She felt herself slipping away again, but this time, she was glad to let go. She knew that she was safe now, with her brother by her side.

Xylon was taken aback by the sight of Eva in such a critical state. He couldn't fathom how someone could inflict such harm on a woman, especially one as gentle as his sister. Eva lay unconscious, her body battered and broken, unable to tell him what had happened.

Akuna, ever the observant one, had followed Xylon to the room and quickly took action to assist. She knew that the girl lying before them was a Sinclair because of the unique ability they possessed, enabling them to enter the farm without difficulty.

Xylon's heart raced as he carried Eva's broken body to his room, trying to keep her as comfortable as possible. He laid her down gently on the bed, careful not to disturb her injuries. Akuna was right behind him, taking in the sight with concern etched on her face.

Without hesitation, she disappeared momentarily and returned with a towel and a bowl of water from the pond, ready to aid in any way she could.

Akuna told him that the water of the pond held great healing properties, and so he used it to help stop the bleeding from Eva's injuries. The water was warm and soothing, and as he applied it to her wounds, he could feel it working its magic.

The bleeding slowed and then stopped altogether, and he could see the wounds starting to close up. It was a small relief amidst the chaos of the situation, but it was something.

Xylon's mind raced as he tended to Eva, wondering what could have happened to her out there in the unforgiving desert. He couldn't imagine what kind of danger could have driven her to his doorstep.

Her arm and leg were both broken, and she had severe bruising on her face and chest. He knew that healing her would be a difficult task, but he had no choice. He couldn't just leave her in that state.

Xylon carefully examined Eva's injuries, taking note of the severity of each one. Despite not being specialized in healing magic, he knew enough to help alleviate the pain and promote some level of recovery.

He began by using his own magic to ease the pain in her chest, making it easier for her to breathe.

Next, he focused on her broken arm and leg, using his magic to help set the bones and stop any internal bleeding. It wasn't a perfect fix, but it was enough to stabilize her injuries and give her body a chance to heal naturally.

Finally, Xylon worked on the bruises on her face, using his magic to reduce the swelling and promote healing. He gently placed his hand on her cheek, his magic flowing through his fingertips and into her skin.

Eva's face gradually began to return to its normal shape, the bruises fading until they were barely noticeable.

Despite the success of his healing, Xylon knew that Eva would need rest and proper medical attention to fully recover.

He helped her settle into his bed, making sure she was comfortable and had everything she needed before he retired to the living room to talk to Akuna.

"I don't know what happened to her, but she's in bad shape," Xylon said, worry etched into his features.
