Chapter 33 - Where you should have been, master!

The nights were long and restless for Xylon as he was haunted by the ghosts of his past life. Every time he closed his eyes, he was transported to the time when he wasone of  the leaders of his family horde, serving the dark lord of demons, Balthyrov, his father.

It was a life of violence, chaos and sin that he was forced to live for over five hundred years.

In the dream, he could see himself leading thousands of chaotic demons with such ease and cunning. They followed his every command and looked up to him with reverence, for he was the strongest warrior in their horde.

His horde was feared by all who knew them, and he took pride in it.

But then, everything fell apart. The king he served , his father, betrayed him, and he was killed so easily, without even a chance to resist. It was a shock that shattered him to his very core, leaving him feeling like everything he had built had been taken away from him.

As Xylon woke up from the third consecutive night of this vivid dream, he was filled with a sense of anger and confusion. He knew that his past as a demon was something that he could never let go because it was not done .

He was not even used to the concept of dreaming, every dream and nightmare looked so vivid to him.

Xylon's body was drenched in sweat as he sat up in bed, his mind still consumed by the vivid nightmares of his past life as a demon. His eyes darted around the dark room, illuminated only by the flickering light of a single candle.

The flame danced and swayed, casting eerie shadows across the walls. Xylon watched the flame with a mix of fascination and fear, transfixed by its unending flicker.

As he rose to his feet and walked towards the window, Xylon couldn't help but feel a sense of awe at the beauty of the candle's light. It was mesmerizing, almost hypnotic, and he found himself staring at it for what felt like hours. But eventually, his attention was drawn back to the outside world.

As he gazed out at the vast expanse of farmland stretching out before him, Xylon's thoughts turned once again to his quest for revenge. He knew that he couldn't rest until he had taken vengeance on Balthyrov and everyone else involved in his execution. But there was more to it than that.

"This place may not be what I expected," he muttered to himself, his voice low and filled with anger. "But it's not completely useless either. Here, I can make a difference. And I'll make sure those insects get what's coming to them too, on my way to Balthyrov."

As he pressed his hand against the cool glass of the window, Xylon felt a fierce determination burning inside him.

Akuna couldn't shake off the fear that gripped her after that incident. She felt like she had become nothing more than a tool for Xylon, and her self-esteem had taken a severe blow. She was convinced that Xylon's plans were cruel and that she didn't want to be a part of them.

She feared that Xylon's reign as the soul keeper of the farm would be the last, and that thought terrified her to the core.

Xylon, on the other hand, was still reeling from the nightmare he had just woken up from. He needed a distraction, something to take his mind off the memory of his past life as a demon. He walked over to the desk and picked up one of the books left there by Arthur.

As he was flipping through the pages, he came across a paragraph that caught his attention. It read: "The soul keeper is not allowed to leave the farm under any circumstances once they arrive."

Xylon stopped reading and his smirk turned into a look of realization. "Not allowed? Not allowed!" he exclaimed, his voice rising with excitement. "Does this mean that I could leave this place, but it's just forbidden?" he mused, his mind racing with possibilities.

Xylon's mind was consumed with curiosity and the desire to test the theory he had just read. He felt an overwhelming need to break free from the confines of the farm and explore the world beyond.

He quickly dressed himself and made his way outside the house, standing in front of the imposing gate that separated the farm from the outside world.

As he tentatively pushed the gate open, a deafening noise filled his ears, causing him to flinch and hesitate for a moment. But he quickly regained his resolve and stepped forward, determined to see what lay beyond. In an instant, the scene before him vanished and was replaced by something altogether different, yet somehow familiar.

In its place appeared a horrifying, yet strangely familiar sight. The desert had disappeared, and in its place was a landscape of fire and brimstone

Xylon turned around to see Akuna standing behind him, a look of shock and disbelief on her face. "Wait...what...you can see this?" she exclaimed, her voice tinged with a mix of confusion and excitement.

Xylon was taken aback by her reaction. "What do you mean?" he asked, trying not to reveal his own surprise.

"No one has ever been capable of seeing the other place," Akuna explained. "Is it because of your true nature?"

Xylon was still struggling to comprehend what he was seeing. "What is this place?" he demanded.

Akuna closed the gate and turned to face him. "You can't even set foot there, master. There's no need for you to do this," she cautioned him.

"Fuck you, bitch, talk!" Xylon shouted, his frustration mounting.

Akuna took a deep breath before answering. "This is...this is the Abyss of Demon Souls. This is where you should have been," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.

Xylon's mind reeled at the revelation. The Abyss of Demon Souls...he had heard of it before, in whispers and rumors back in his days as a demon. It was said to be a place of unimaginable torment and suffering, where the souls of the damned were cast for all eternity.

But now, standing here in front of it, he could see that it was something more. The swirling vortex of darkness seemed to pulse and throb with a terrible energy, and he could feel its pull on him, tugging at his very soul.

"This is where your soul should have gone after you were killed".Akuna repeated with frustration that he was here.
