Chapter 44 - Rage!!

Bumble cracked his head relentlessly trying to figure out what to do, but no specific idea came to mind. He didn't know if it was good to even do this in the first place. But his obsession for Jeffery was way more stronger than his compassionate personality.

He finally gave up. There was absolutely nothing he could find to make the two others turn against the boys. He guessed they were lucky and he wasn't. Besides they were Jeffery's sons, and plotting against them could mean death from the person he admires the most.

Alexander walked behind his brother once more as they left the building. They were leading while other's followed suite. He didn't know what they were thinking, or the plans they had in mind. But as long as they were in school compound, they couldn't use magic and it eased him a little. He didn't like backing his enemies and being taken unaware, but conditions had forced him into doing so, leaving him to rely only on pure instincts.

The two brothers headed towards the parking lot, where their vehicle stayed waiting for their return. Alexander halted and stopped his brother from entering the vehicle. He smiled to himself at the clever plan of the enemy. Instead of facing them head on, they had instead cursed their car to crash. He conversed the situation to this brother telepathically and explained the next step.

They were taking an Uber home and hopefully they wouldn't be cursed again.

Daniel could easily tell that this was Mrs Hardwood's doing. She had transferred her aggression and hatred for his father to his children. And was now going as far as trying to kill them. He didn't mind if he was the one getting the hate and the threats, but she was crossing the line by attacking his brother also.

If she wanted revenge, then he would gladly take the heat. But involving Alexander too was just much. She was being greedy with her vengeance and it was just plain annoying. He didn't care if she was Richard's mother at this point. If she bared her fangs at his brother one more time, then he would have no option but to bite back.

The two brothers rested under the shade provided by the enormous building while waiting for their ride to arrive. The other two parents and their wards had already exited the premises and for that moment in time, the brothers actually felt relieved. They didn't want trouble and they hoped trouble didn't find them either. Nobody from the Bruce family was liked especially when it concerned other factions.

For blood sorcerers, the Bruce's were gods and were either worshipped or loved. But for the other factions it was the exact opposite. Everybody wanted Jeffery and anything concerning him wiped out of existence. They feared his power and growth and felt threatened by it. Especially since this immense power was coming from someone from a clan that was considered the weakest. Nobody enjoyed losing, especially not to someone lower than they were.

It had been over twenty minutes past the estimated time of their Uber's arrival, and things had become fishy once more. They suspected foul play and hoped that they hadn't involved an innocent civilian in a war that he wasn't even aware of. They had gotten tired of waiting and had decided to find a secure place to teleport themselves home, but it must be outside the school premises.

They walked out of the school compound and headed towards the closest and loneliest alleyway around. It was still morning, only a few minutes past eleven. The streets were usually empty by this time of the day. Students were in their classes, and the grown ups were either in their workplaces or at home extending their sleep. Alexander prepared to teleport himself and his brother away from the place, but the instant he thought of the spell , he felt a sudden vibration in the air around him and had turned immediately to defend them from an incoming lightning bolt.

He maintained his defense after realising the attack didn't just end with the lightning bolt. Wind blades and fireballs followed suite. And before he could realize it, vines had shot up from beneath him and had held him in place. He killed off the aggressive plants by releasing a blood technique of acidic blood around himself.

He then proceeded to make a summersault away from the area. He could tell that their attackers were non other than the nature sorcerers and the Infernal Judgement parent they had met earlier. They had delayed their Uber and had left them with only the choice of teleportation. They were aware that the alleyway was going to be their first option and had ambushed them there.

"Run!" Alexander ordered his brother who stood for a while reluctant on whether he should follow the instruction. But after another command from Alexander, the boy immediately teleported himself away from the place, leaving his brother to handle their attackers all by himself.

Alexander took out a penknife from his pocket and cut himself. Now that his brother was gone, he can now focus on attacking and defending himself instead if worrying about himself and the boy at the same time.

He knew he was outnumbered, and sending away his only source of help might have not been the best idea. But he didn't have a choice. He knew that if things were to get serious Daniel wouldn't be able to keep up. It was best he was away.

He successfully dodged another lightning bolt before countering a fire ball. Without wasting much time, he summoned his bloodhound and sent it towards the nature sorcerer. He couldn't handle the two of them at once, so using his bloodhound to keep one of them busy provided him with enough time and opportunity to finish off one enemy before facing the second one.

Daniel arrived exactly where he wanted to, in Richard's room and luckily the boy was there. He knew Richard would never let his mother attack them which meant he was not aware of the ambush. He met his friend seated on his bed without moving. His sudden entrance should have at least startled him, but the boy still sat with his eyes open and hadn't even moved a muscle or blinked since he arrived.

"Richard?" Daniel called out to the lost boy, frantically waving his hands up and down in front of his face to call him back to reality. But Richard remained frozen as rock. His mind immediately explained to him that the boy had been trapped inside his own body, and he could guess this was Selena's doing.

Richard had probably tried to oppose her desicion of going after him and his brother, and the woman had retaliated and had frozen her son in place. She was ruthless and was hellbent on getting her revenge.

He immediately undid the spell after cutting himself and chanting releasing spells. The woman was definitely good and had used a lot of mana in a simple spell, just to keep Richard out of her way. She had also cursed him not to be able to undo her spells, but unluckily he had visited.

Richard regained himself, and immediately his eyes saw Daniel he could tell that his mother had done what he had preventing all this while. She had attacked the brothers despite all his plea and explanation. He thanked Daniel for breaking him our of captivity and without much time wasting, they both teleported back to the alleyway hoping that their families hadn't killed each other before they reached.

Richard immediately sent a fireball towards Alexander the moment they appeared but Daniel had cancelled out the attack before it reached.

Alexander had lost a limb, but Selena was in worse condition. And the second attacker was nowhere to be seen.

Alexander sat on top of his victim his penknife held high ready to descend into the woman's heart. But his wrist got held back by a familiar touch.

"Daniel" he pronounced faintly almost falling off the unconscious woman's body. His left arm was missing and he was covered in blood which belonged to him and his enemy.

Richard rushed towards his unconscious mother's body and pushed off the already weakened Alexander off the woman's body.

Her eyeballs were gone and so were her fingers. It was obvious that Alexander was torturing her before she passed out. Her pulse was faint, but she was still alive. He understood that his mother was at fault, but he just couldn't bring himself to accept this. Alexander had gone too far and he couldn't forgive this. This woman was his mother, and he was sure the man knew this. But yet he chose to be brutal to her. Rage and hatred welled up in him as he stared at the brothers beside him.

He was being biased in his judgement, but his rage couldn't let him see that. All he could see now was the brothers dead at his feet.
