"Richard stop!" Daniel urged his friend who kept attacking them relentlessly. He understood that Richard had a right to be enraged by his mother's condition, but the woman brought this on herself. His friend was being very unfair and unjust right now. However, Daniel chose to blame it on anger. This was a do or die situation, and the fight could have gone either way. If Alexander had been in Selena's, Richard wouldn't be doing this and that was purely unfair.
Daniel didn't attack back, he only dogded and blocked all the attacks that came his way while carrying his unconscious brother's body with him. He didn't want to fight back, not that it even mattered. He would lose if he fought back. Richard was way stronger than he was and he could end him and Alexander if he wanted to this instant. His friend was still in there somewhere. He could have ended them so easily by summoning Astaroth, but he didn't. There was still hope. If he could reach out to him, he might be able to pull him back to sanity.
He had never imagined that a day like this would come. A day when he would have to fight his best friend, or a day where he would be killed by Richard. All this appeared like a dream to him. No, a nightmare, and this was the worst nightmare he had ever had in his entire life.
Daniel encased himself in a shield, successfully keeping out the attacks that Richard threw at them. But the defense wouldn't last long.
This fight was just unfair. Not only did Richard possess infinite mana, he was also stronger than he was. His friend had gotten better with his mana control and had definitely improved his stamina, and those perks were just adding to how dangerous he had become. He had tried to get through to him through telepathy but Richard had closed his mind from any unauthorized entry.
Daniel focused on his defense while making sure to keep Alexander's body safe. His injuries were still untreated and he was loosing a lot of blood. If the two of them didn't stop this nonsense and help their injured relatives, then they were going to die . The more time they wasted, the more the two unconscious humans drew closer to death.
He tried calling Richard back again, but it wasn't working. If only he could get close enough to Richard, and knock him out of this madness. He enclosed Alexander's unconscious body in a dome before jumping sideways to avoid being burnt.
Daniel projected forward, carefully making his way through the careless attacks Richard threw at him. He was lucky his friend was blinded with rage and wasn't being precise with his attacks. He countered a fireball before finally getting close enough to the boy. He slinked past an outstretched punch before pushing Richard's defensive arm out of the way.
He tightened his fist before apologizing to his friend. This was the only way to bring him back. Without hesitation, he delivered a reinforced blow to the boys face, knocking him off his feet and throwing him a few metres away.
Daniel waited for a moment for the boy to rise while praying and hoping in his heart that he had returned back to himself.
It was the exact opposite. His friend was a sneaky bastard. He had used the blood from his mouth to draw a summoning circle around himself before standing. He couldn't believe it, Richard was really aiming to kill him. He launched himself forward once again, hoping to reach the boy and stop the summoning before he concluded it.
He was too slow and it was too late. He could already sense the creature making it's appearance before he could even reach Richard. He stopped midway towards his friend and jumped back immediately, barely escaping the claws of the extremely fast beast. It had covered the distance between them in just a blink and had also attacked at the same time.
Daniel created a dome around himself, but the defense got shattered just by the shockwave from a single claw swipe. The attack dug holes in the ground and shattered buildings as it approached him. Realising that the mass destruction will attract people, Daniel immediately casted a spell over the arena. He enclosed the entire neighborhood in his aura, and in one instant teleported everything within in out of the vicinity.
They arrived on a rocky plain, somewhere he couldn't recall ever being to. Richard had messed with his spell, and they were in a place he couldn't recognise at all.
Daniel fell to his knees. He was almost at death's door at the moment. Teleporting beings with huge mana reserves had drained him of the little he had. Things weren't looking too good for him.
He grabbed a rock from the ground and slit himself for the second time. He had seen his father do this before, using his blood to enhance his body and physical strength and he planned on doing the same. He knew that even one blow from this creature could end him in an instant, but with the enhancement spell, he could survive at most two blows.
He didn't know if it worked or not, he didn't feel any different after concluding the spell. Maybe this was how it was supposed to be, he didn't really know. But he was still going to dodge this demon's attacks like he had been doing. He still couldn't believe all this was happening, and he sincerely hoped he was hallucinating or under an illusion. But the pain of a claw digging into his side reminded him that this was all real.
Daniel clutched his bleeding torso. The stab was definitely deep and had punctured one of his lungs. He rolled out of the way just in time to avoid another slash. He could barely stand and breathe properly. It was almost as if his insides were burning, but he endured the pain and kept avoiding more attacks.
He covered himself once more with a dome which deflected the hot flames that poured out of the beast's mouth. Using his blood on the floor, he drew a circle around himself and began a summoning spell. He had no familiar or anything, but just prayed that his father had a family guardian that answered to all Bruce family members.
He concluded the spell, but nothing happened. It was all over now and there was nothing else he could do. The dome around him was already giving in and he was being fried Inside the barrier. Once it goes down, then it was definitely the end for him. He still found it hard to believe that he would die at the hands of his best friend.
Who could have thought of that. He knew that once he was down, then Alexander would be as good as dead. It was in moments like this that he truly wished his father would appear, but the man never came when he was needed. He closed his eyes and accepted his fate. At least he would be with his brother in the afterlife.
He felt his defense shatter into pieces, but the flames never hit. Maybe he had died before he could feel pain and was now in the afterlife. He was definitely still alive, the pain by his side was still there and was still draining life out of him. Somebody had saved him and he had to know who.
He opened his eyes and met his savior standing in front of him.
"Angus?" He questioned the being who's body was glowing gold. He had his lance in his hand and he could guess that the weapon had negated the demon's flames.
"Don't talk, your wounds are serious. If you stress yourself, it could kill you. Just stay down, I'll handle this" Angus assured before walking towards the nine feet hellish monster without fear.
He had never seen Angus this serious before. The vibe he gave off was completely different, and he looked like a completely different being from himself. He had never seen him like this either. He looked angelic and his pure aura almost brought him comfort. But the thoughts of his friends fighting to the death scared him.
Daniel knew that using this power drained Angus badly, and that he wouldn't last long. But the same could also be said for Richard . He also knew that summoning an archdemon into this realm was a big deal, and his friend had never sustained this creature for this long. Which also meant that Richard was approaching his limits.
This fight was completely a fight of endurance and stamina. Whoever outlasted the other would win and he sincerely hoped that Angus did. He was their only hope and if he goes down, then they were all going to die. He closed his eyes and drifted into unconsciousness while praying in his heart that his friends didn't kill each other.
Angus couldn't believe this was true, Richard was really going to kill his best friend without holding back. The two had been friends long before he even met them. Seeing them fight against each other was something he considered impossible.
He was lucky to have arrived just in time to save Daniel. Wilson had relayed the vision to him and he had been reluctant thinking that all this was a joke. But after much persuasion, he had teleported here and had managed to negate this demon's flames just before it reached Daniel.
He never imagined that he would have to fight any of these two, they were his family and the only people he could ever call friends. But as things were now, Richard left him with no choice. It was a kill or be killed situation, and he wasn't planning to die yet.
