Chapter 35 - The government..what's that!

Ezekiel looked down at the old lady with a mixture of anger and suspicion and hate  .

He hated liars all his  life, and he had a very weird feeling that she was hiding something much bigger from him, more than he could ever think of .

He didn't know what it was, but he was sure that it was important.

Ezekiel punched the desk with his strong fist, then turned on his side and spit on the ground .

The scent of blood filled his nostrils,  and it made him want to puke .

"What do you know about what happened here in your filthy motel?" Ezekiel asked, his voice low and dangerous.

It felt like every word he was saying was very toxic .

The old lady shifted nervously under his gaze. "I….I told you what I know, boy . I was hiding under the desk  all the time of this attack and that is why I survived . They didn't know I was there, I couldn't help the others."

Ezekiel frowned, not believing her for a second. He had a feeling that she was involved in what had happened here, but he couldn't prove it yet.

He was so pissed that she kept acting until now .

' If she did this …this means that she is strong …so why is she answering my damned questions still, why isn't she attacking me like before ?'

She was so old to be working with the government still, the old lady was in her late 70s, with wrinkled pale skin and thinning white hair .

She had a small, thin frame and a slight hunch in her back, giving her the appearance of someone who had lived a long and arduous life.

This woman was very weird and even her sense of fashion was not from this modern day .

It felt like she was frozen in  time , she was not following the new trends and also she kept her hotel the same as the old hotels .

Despite her age, her eyes still held a sharp glint and her movements were quick and agile

"I don't believe you,"  Ezekiel stated as kept looking at her from head to toe . "I think you're hiding something from me. And I don't like it…hmmmm. by the way, I am not going to play detective with you"

Ezekiel looked around then he moved around the desk to meet her this time, he was clearly pissed yet he was still capable of holding himself back.

" Listen, I don't believe you, so you better start talking about what really happened here " he was very firm this time .

The old lady's eyes widened with fear, but she didn't back down. "I swear, I'm telling you the truth. I had nothing to do with what happened here."

' Why is she still trying to convince me that she didn't  do anything,  why is she not attacking me ?' He thought .

Ezekiel's eyes narrowed as he looked down at the old lady, his hand tightly gripping the hilt of the sword he had summoned.

' If she brought the magical knife then I better bring the fucking sword, it is not an eye for an eye anymore, to me, it is an eye for the whole fucking body '

He had grown suspicious of her from the moment he arrived at her motel, it was too hard for him to trust anyone from the beginning, and now her involvement in this massacre only confirmed his worst fears.

' If it was the government then why did they do this to the others ? I know that those people were normal ones, unless they just had supremacy and they already knew how to hide their powers '

Ezekiel was standing in the middle of a bloodbath,  however  this terrible situation was not going to make him want to let her get away with it.

He raised the sword in the air, he even waved it for a few seconds, the blade glinting menacingly in the light. "I hate the fucking liars," he growled, his voice filled with anger. "And I won't stand by and watch you kill me next ."

The old lady's eyes widened as she looked up at Ezekiel, fear and confusion and disgust  that she tried to bury desperately evident in her expression.

"What are you talking about, little boy ?" she asked, her voice shaking heavily,  "I had nothing to do with this! I was just as shocked as you when I saw the bodies!"

"And still I didn't  hear a single scream from upthere " He argued .

Ezekiel wasn't fooled. He had seen the look in her eyes when she first arrived at the motel, the suspicion and mistrust , yet he only thought that was just the right amount for an old lady who runs a hotel in the middle of nowhere.

"Don't you dare to play dumb in front of me ," he said, his voice cold and hard. "You're the only one here who isn't dead, and that can't be a coincidence. I want to know what you're hiding, and I want to know now or I am going to kill you "

The old lady swallowed hard, her eyes darting around nervously. She knew that Ezekiel was right, and she was running out of options.

Ezekiel didn't  even care about her the slightest,  he didn't even care about his family let alone this old woman.

" These …..thesewhat bastards …..these bastards are giving life to this place " she said while hissing like a snake .

When cornered she just had to reveal her true identity.

" This blood is  is making this place still vivid, boy "

" What do you mean by this, crazy woman?"

" This ….disgusting people are just ….like a fuel …a fuel to my place to continue existing "

" Do you work with the government? Did you kill them because they had supremacy signs ?

Ezekiel shouted when he saw her rolling her eyes in all directions as if she was possessed.

" The government? What's that …hey….give me your blood "
