"Before we begin, I think it's only fair to cover a few things. Although, I wouldn't be repeating things I've said earlier." Rose said, a sly smile spreading across her face. Her gaze lingered on Matt, making it clear that he was at a disadvantage for being late.
"As you're aware, Enlightened individuals possess the power of Imagi, which they can use to manifest special abilities. By fueling this power, known as Magia, with their will, they can produce remarkable results." Rose paused to emphasize her point.
"The Chuunibyou Society takes into account both Imagi and Magia levels when assigning Ranks. However, having high levels of Imagi and Magia doesn't necessarily guarantee victory over someone with less power. Without the experience to wield such power, it's like throwing pearls to the swine." Once again, Rose's eyes flicked over to Matt, causing him to stiffen involuntarily.
"Now, we're going to put that to the test. Each of you will tell us your Imagi, Rank, and Class. And then, we'll see who truly has the skill to back up their power."
All four of them nodded in agreement, although Matt hesitated slightly. His mood had already been soured by the lack of a mission, and now Rose's attitude towards him wasn't helping matters.
"Let's prove her wrong, shall we?" Matt thought to himself.
"Me first! Me first!" Bee exclaimed, bouncing up and down in excitement. "My name is Bee, and my Imagi is [Sting Like A Bee]. I'm currently a Novice Rank, but I'll be moving up to D Class soon. I belong to the Warrior Class, and my Imagi enhances my body, making me faster and more resilient than normal." Bee's introduction was exactly what Rose had been hoping for. Choosing her to go first was definitely a wise decision.
"Shadow, you're up next," Rose instructed.
Shadow, dressed in dark clothing, stepped forward and spoke in a hushed voice. "I am Shadow. My Imagi is called [One With The Shadows]. I belong to the Summoner Class, and my power is derived from the Shadows that I summon. Currently, I hold the E Class Novice Rank." Shadow kept their explanation short and to the point, not bothering to elaborate on how their abilities worked.
Rose acknowledged Shadow's response before turning her attention to the next person. "Pansy, it's your turn now."
Pansy nervously stepped forward, her hands fidgeting with her clothing. "I-I'm Pansy," she stuttered. "My Imagi is [Imbued Friendship]. It lets me imbue a soul into any object and make it my friend, like a rock or a stuffed animal." She paused for a moment, collecting her thoughts before continuing. "I belong to the Contractor Class, and I'm still an E Class Novice." With a deep breath, she returned to her spot in the line, relieved that her turn was over.
"Voidbringer, its your turn."
"Ah, you can just call me Voi—"
"Just do what you're told."
'Jeez…' Matt thought to himself as he walked ahead of the row.
The Rose he was facing was completely different from the one he fought back in the exams. She seemed more on edge, and he didn't like it.
'Just loosen up a little…'
Even though the previous Rose seemed crazy, especially wth how she laughed like a maniac, he would still pick that over this uptight version that seemed like she would eat him alive.
"I am Voidbringer. Void for short. I belong to the Mage Class, and my Rank is Challenger, C Class. My Imagi is called [Void Dar'k]." He began, now completely donning the Void persona.
"Void Dar'k allows me to create dark flames of perdition, an all-consuming flame that destroys everything in its path. However, I can only access it when I'm surrounded by darkness, which means I have to close at least one of my eyes to manifest the flames." He had only realized this during his fight with Rose back during the exams.
"Pretty cool, right?" Void smiled, tooting his own horn.
"Y-yeah, it is," Pansy responded pleasantly.
"It's pretty rad," Bee's enthusiastic voice chimed in.
"Nice," Shadow replied in their typical stoic manner.
"Sounds pretty unoriginal to me. I bet you copied it from an anime you watched," Rose was the only one who poked holes at his ability.
'Why are you such a wet blanket today? Void thought, groaning as he returned to his original position.
Once all four of them were back in their row, Rose moved on to the next topic.
"Classes are divided into five categories: Warrior, Mage, Contractor, Summoner, and Irregular. Irregulars are very rare, and only a few teams have one on their roster. However, if we look at the other four classes, then our team is pretty balanced."
Void and Rose were Mages, Pansy was a Contractor, Shadow was a Summoner, and Bee was a Warrior.
"There are also a few other things I mentioned earlier, but Voidbringer can easily ask someone else to explain them. The last thing I'm going to talk about is known to all Chuunibyous as the highest form of power." Rose's voice suddenly deepened as she addressed this issue.
"Highest form of power?!" This quickly piqued Void's interest.
He had always been curious about the power of those at the peak of their abilities, and now he would finally get a glimpse.
"Even I don't have access to this level of power yet. Then again, I'm only a B Class Master," she added.
Void already knew that the ranks determined one's power, as measured by the Chuunibyou Society: Novice, Challenger, Master, Sovereign, Principality, and Transcendent. In terms of skill, Rose was actually in the bottom half, so her lack of mastery in the highest form of power was understandable.
"It's known as the Domain of Thought, and when the time comes, I hope you'll all be able to manifest it."
"Hold on...the Domain of Thought?" Void knew he had heard that term somewhere before.
"With that out of the way, let us begin the real training...a combat exercise," Rose said.
Before he could figure out where he had heard that term before, Rose separated them into two groups, each fighting against their respective combatants. Voidbringer would fight against Shadow, while Pansy would face Bee.
"Let us begin."
