The first match had Void pitted against Shadow, essentially Matt's match right from the start. They both went to the center of the training hall, and the others took several steps back, giving them enough space to engage in combat.
"Don't hold back. Go all-out," Rose said, folding her hands as she focused her gaze on the two. "Remember, this is to prove your skill to the Society."
Proving one's skill was important, as it was the only way to get a higher rank, along with achievements.
"Alright, you may begin!"

"All right, let's do this!" Matt thought to himself. He was now Void, master of the dark flames of perdition, and a Challenger-ranked figure. He was facing off against a Novice but remained determined not to underestimate them.
