Stephen was unable to keep up with the couple's pace anymore when he saw the door to the ward his daughter could possibly be in, Stephen halted.
He entirely stopped walking.
The next second, his eyes stung. He clenched his fist, pain, anger, and sadness flowing through him. He doesn't even know how he would face his daughter.
From the news, he saw all Alfred had done to his daughter and it left him feeling all guilty and worthless. He would have searched harder, if he had, his daughter would have escaped Alfred and Laura's madness.
His stomach crunched tight and tears welled up in his eyes. He tried to imagine how people could be so cruel to their fellow humans. He searched his mind trying to figure out what he had done to Alfred and Laura to deserve the amount of hate they grew for him and his wife. They even passed it down to his daughter.
